Don't mean to be funny but how long is it because 100mb+ seems a lot for a podcast when you are on a limited connection Maybe a mono or Low Qual version would be welcome by more people? ~_~

I think the larger point of the discussion was that PL doesnt value the more traditional objectivity/neutrality of what most would consider mercs, instead pursuing their own agenda and seeing who will pay them along the way.
It's not much of a secret the opinion most merc corps have of PL. I dont think we really say anything negative about PL's capability, which is impressive, we just seemed to share the opinion that their "packaging" seems off from our perspectives. ---

You are of course welcome to your opinion, but the truth is that you yourself have complained about people making the same uninformed statements about "lack of neutrality".
When you moved to providence some people claimed that you became a pet of AAA, and I know that you yourself disagreed strongly with that assessment. I don't believe that Noir. was ever completely tied to AAA but I think you can agree that we in PL have demonstrated even more evidence of neutrality than you were able to during your stay in provi. In your podcast itself dnsblack mentioned how we have worked closely alongside IT's closest real allies; Init. We've also proven that we have no compunction against hitting the north. Recent headlines should prove that if you're not convinced.
If you have any actual evidence of our "bias" or can produce a single case of people getting scammed by actual official PL representatives, I would be very open to hearing it. But I think you may have let your views on PL become coloured by your emotions, instead of relying on facts.
That being said, we love it when people talk about us no matter what they say, and I have always found your podcasts interesting (if often inaccurate when discussing news outside your direct experience) going back to episode 1. So keep it up and I'll keep listening. ---------------------------------------------

Edited by: Alekseyev Karrde on 11/11/2010 05:38:24 Some cool comments Raivi. Glad we at least keep you entertained heh. PL and Noir. take very different approaches to the game but there's no market competition and we've no reason for a personal beef. We respect their FCs and fighting ability, we just dont like their approach in other areas. It's just as much our right to disagree with how you guys do things as it is your right to do things the way you do.
Still, even if we cant be 100% accurate we do our best and at least try to be fair. We put like 1 hour, MAYBE 2 into the outline + research and record it all in one take with a cast that hardly ever features the same set of hosts from ep to ep, so dont expect miracles ;) but we try.
I will remind ya this was recorded in Sept. and as such PL's activity in the north during the DRF conflict was a bit out of scope. I will say that from my PERSONAL perspective PL's northern escapades have cast some serious doubt to the tin hattery. But then again I dont spend as much energy as some trying to figure out PL's benefactors and their political maneuvers, so I dont think I'm in a good position to do anything except be skeptical.
I do NOT buy into the "actual official PL representatives" answer to scamming. It's essentially the same answer Goons gave RE: their recruitment scams. "Well if you didnt talk to the right people/do it the right way you deserved to lose your money" while simultaneously never able to easily identify who those "right people" are or what the "right way" is since it's never explained clearly in a place that's easily referenced. And any attempts to just ASK are unreliable since the whole alliance has an incentive to misdirect victims in hopes of getting their money. It's a weak cover for what I see as a system designed to make it easy and consequence free to scam whoever, whenever while still trying to claim enough reliability that the occasional serious contract you do want from someone "in the know" will still be willing, albeit reluctantly and with a question always in the back of their mind, to pay you.
You are right to say Noir. didnt exactly "prove" it's neutrality Re: AAA but I think it's a bit of an unfair comment. I've taken contracts from several people in alliances that contributed to the anti-AAA- bandwagon both before, during, and after. I've made no secret someone asked about a contract vs AAA in Catch, I quoted that person a price that was reasonable, but we were already booked for a while (apx. 3 weeks i think, might have been a little less) and the individual didnt want to wait. If they had paid, we would have hit Catch and AAA hard, like any other target. But they didnt, so we didnt.
Aside from Slinktess of IT, who's posted quite a few times that she's hired us for something a long time ago, and INIT, who we escorted an ihub-laden freighter for back when Provi was quiet and allowed me to name them as a reference, I cant "prove" most of that without outing customers against their wishes. Which I wont do. Dont expect people who dislike me or us to take my word for it but there it is. ---

I know. It's really difficult to find this information and at some point we should probably make a clear announcement somewhere public that can be easily referenced.
Also, if you needed this current deployment to convince yourself that we can damage the NC, you may have missed our stays in Pure Blind or Geminate over the past year. The Pure Blind one stands out in my mind because at the time your podcast reported as news the Maru'Kage CAOD troll that we were there to blue up the NC and shoot them. ---------------------------------------------

I dont think anyone really considers the EVE O forums "easy to reference" heh. Maybe a link on your kb, or a website, alliance description, public chat channel etc is the sort of thing I'm talking about. ---

the people who would be likely to hire PL know who they should be contacting.
also, they're never really neutral, they're always on the side of whoever is paying them. i think that's how mercs work. but i don't know, you could teach us a lot about how a true merc alliances work.
