I made this thread and then it occured to me that maybe if there was something to fight over nullsec alliances would risk their ships and attack each other.
My proposal may be a little over the top but im sure you get the idea :D
On a browser game known as travian this has worked, much like eve people build up super armies but only when rare stuff are available people risk all their army to claim it, unfortunately there isnt really anything worth risking 50+ titans on.
Hopefully im not alone on this :D

We had better and worse space. We also had money-printing 10/10 plexes. CCP removed em, nowdays fight is only over moons.

Yeah it needs to be super rare, with moons its more of a "well screw it we got our own" after a loss and I dont think alliances will send all their supercaps for the sake of moons.

T2 Capital BPO sounds good, but it would be too easy to ninja, im thinking something that is heavy, like a nuke or something haha.
Something so rare that all 0.0 alliances will freak out and try to get it, this imo is the only reason I will see anyone in 0.0 risking all their supercaps

a few systems that are the only source of XXX would be interesting.
If anyone is interested in the PLEX roid I've located, just drop 10B into my account and I'll share....

Do you remember a game called Star Control 2?
In this game there were special planets called rainbow worlds. These planets screwed up your ship sensors and casued a rainbow like pattern, the planets themselves were not valuable but an alien race called the "Melnorm" collected rainbow world location data and paid great rewards if you found one of these worlds. Also the planets themselves were placed in very specific locations, if you find all of the planets they would reveal a pattern pointing to something very unique.

Tossing ideas out:
1. Near permanent wormholes - worm holes to hi sec or enemy territory with weeks-months lifespan. Access to this wormhole offers high strategic value to moving supplies/fleets/staging attacks.
2. Space monsters - "Biological" monsters that "eats" asteroid belts or player POS's until the system is clear, or destroys every POS/ship in system if it reaches the star. Kill it to prevent, or protect it if it is in opponent's system. Kinda like a "defend the seige engine" mini game. Anyone who played DoTA knows what this escort-like arrangement is.
3. A one time use, freighter sized ship that creates a single highly beneficial/detrimental effect such as temporarily bringing Z/K space effects like turning stars into magnetars. Randomly spawned abandoned in space, players will need to bring it to the desired system to trigger the phenomenon.
4. Ancient jovian superweapon ala classic Star Wars Deathstar that skips through warp space, dropping in randomly within the galaxy. During the time it stays out of warp, players can board it with a single use ability to wipe out every ship in a single system within the entire galaxy.
5. A lost "bait" super capital ship such as successor to the Amarr throne, high ranking Caldari CEO, etc., that causes every npc in the constellation to be replaced by hostile faction npc's from cheap sansha frigs up to T3 sleeper drones. Effect lasts as long as the player stays in the ship, shutting down entire areas (effectively t3 sleeper gate camps all over) to spawning big sansha npc bounties all over the constellation until the ship is destroyed by other players or the NPC rescue fleets chasing the player.
6. A random NPC that is vulnerable only to titan doomsday weapons, dropping drug boosters that hugely benefit fighters/bombers/dreadnought/doomsday weapons.
7. A single implant that allows the pilot to use every ship in the galaxy without skills.
8. A single implant that allows the pilot to use every module in galaxy without skills.
10. A few dozen self replenishing stack of nano repair paste.

Edited by: kongking wang on 13/11/2010 03:57:19 Edited by: kongking wang on 13/11/2010 03:52:24 every so often an object of unknown origion will appear in a 0.0 system. this object (derelict ship, satelite, super dense asteroid etc) will have an automated distress call or create a wake that anyone in surrounding systems can pick up (lets say 2 ly).
these objects have a huge ammount of resources be it salvage, archeology, large ammounts of valuable high end ore etc. enougth to keep a reasonably large fleet busy for a 24hr a day week if they can keep hold of it that is. the object would last a month or untill depleted
further to that there would be a limited amount of them at anyone one time in eve. lets say 15 (sry i dont know how many 0.0 systems there are but this should be about 1% or less)for a start. once 1 is depleted it despawns after 24hrs.
those sorts of resources might just tempt conflict or cooperation

Edited by: Flashrain on 13/11/2010 04:50:29 12. A rare NPC titan fleet with sleeper AI that spider tanks, requiring a supercapital fleet to defeat. Upon destruction drops special capital modules that allow the pilot to jump clone in/out of the ship. This solves the nightmare of most supercapital pilots - spending years to build up the skills only to be locked in a flying prison. They'd probably risk losing their ship fighting for it.

so the alliances fight each other for sov so they can take out an npc titan fleet so someone can jump clone. what about the rest of the fleet what do they get. i can see it now,
" oh that special rare npc has spawned inside xyz alliances system. we need a fleet to take it so i can get my new cap mod. erm no thanks. lets just buy it. its cheaper"
on a serious note it offers nothing to benefit the corp/alliance as a whole to warrent any effort at all. besides it must be uber strong for it to last long for anyone to make use of it. just spwaning in system and it dying in even a few hrs is pointless as no one can gather the forces to try and steal it.

Maybe spread some wormholes around that lead to a new area of space that has an ancient gate that jumps to an area that requires large fleets to operate against NPCs. Corps/Alliances would have to fight to maintain control of access WHs. Then fight to control the gate. The winner then fights NPCs for the rewards but has to still maintain PvP control in that area to benefit. Then you'd have to get back to known space before the harvested assets could be used.
Would make for some great youtube movies.

Just dont make it give out ISK that would be pretty lame.
Nukes, superweapons, giant space turtles, anything that will people risk EVERYTHING or majority of what they have to get it before the enemy does

11. A temporary concord license tower that raises all station systems of the region to low sec / hi sec for 6 months.
12. A special cyno license that allows cyno jumps for the holder, within one of the four empire space.
I like 1,2,7,8 and 11.
As for 4, people will just target Jita half of the time. But I do think that the Jovians could provide an excellent source of unique items as they have been in space for thousands of years there are bound to be many lost items. To balance it, whatever it is should be of limited use.
My idea
Only 1 'Jovian' site in null-sec (nowhere else) and it respawns in a different location. The site can contain a derelict Jovian structure or an abandoned jovian ship. Upon discovery of a Jovian site, the object in the site will send out a distress signal that can be detected in the entire galaxy. This will also activate a life-feed of the site. Then everybody knows where it is.
If its a Jovian ship, then you need a pilot with relevant piloting skill at V. In case its a battleship the pilot will need Battleship V from all 4 races. To prevent it from being traded and stockpiled, the ship will self-destruct in a week after discovery.
If the object is a Jovian station then it can drop a item. To get to the item, the armor of the structure needs to be destroyed and then the vault will need to be hacked. Items that it could drop include: Jovian Doomday Bomb, Jovian ammo, Jovian implants, etc. All items will expire in a week.

Edited by: DeadNite on 13/11/2010 18:52:04 Sounds like people are just getting tired of playing because everyone is getting upset that they don't have something others don't have (like the old myths of "X" having a titan until it was confirmed by being dropped on your head).
What happened to playing because you liked to play? Fighting because you like to fight? I thought NBSI gave everyone a reason to fight?
I see more requests on this forum about having/taking/blowing up something that another person has just because you want it more than anything else. Weakness in attitude becomes weakness of character. -AE |

you cant mission/mine / salvage whilst pvp'ing so most of those spawn ideas are no go's..
I think vanity items are likely to be more win, Moar kitty drones.
Maybe some bind on pickup items... or something so you cant flog it to market etc. you have to find it yourself.

Re: #4
It's not a bad thing for people to target Jita half the time. Then you'd have half the universe trying to keep the other half from destroying Jita. Whoever does/does not pull the trigger also goes down in history as villain/hero. Can also finally drive people to start other market hubs.

Edited by: Le Meistars on 14/11/2010 10:34:29 May be a capital size ship that would give several bonuses to the holders corp/alliance members like extra % to mining efficiency; dmg output; cap recharge; shield tank.. i do no..u name it... . Although I`m not sure for how long .. a week..month or more? After the time is up the ship self destruct. Or it`s been destroyed/captured by hostile corp/alliance. If u capture the ship (drop it to 25% structure)the ship would have a special ability to jump to any system or wormhole u want to ( this can be done only once per capture) If it self destructs(after the bonus time is up) the ship would resp. in some random place (not sure about this one.. i mean it should be a place that is not controlled by some corp so u could enjoy the game play: FIND IT; FIGHT FOR IT; USE IT FOR GREAT BENEFIT) Or maybe the ship has an in built beacon giving up it`s position to others? .. i do no just an idea :) But the goal would of been achieved = everyone will get its reward.

Maybe with that Nuke idea have one randomly drop from a 0.0 sec plex once every 12 months or so that is built for one specific purpose, to completly destroy a Station and all contents inside.
This item would be worth fighting to destroy or an alliance may risk losing its main home station

I think that we are looking at this too complex. Lets look at real world wars. Two reasons there are agressors; religion and greed. In eve we have wars for sake of war which is similar to religion (goon vs bob of old). Many of the new ideas offer novel, but not very "Sandbox" way to do it. I think resource and depletion is where we need to look. Make different regions offer different stuff. This will mean trade or raid.

i agree completely. it's all about resources. having every type of mineral/moon goo/whatever available across the eve-verse is whats' problematic. there's no reason to fight other then the desire to fight, which, when you're facing some of these major groups, means the will to fight just isn't there. but if there was some crtical ...uhm... something... that couldn't be had without fighting for it, or buying it from them (at obviously insane prices) then it gives a major reason to fight, and for smaller groups to band together to fight then bigger.
so basically, yea. we're looking at Dune. not one planet though... maybe one per region? less? and it could simply be the requiredfuel for cyno's and jump bridges and such. that would mean huge demand, and could also limit the use of supercap blobs a little, as the fuel would be too valuable to waste.
although - as an aside, i totally agree with the sentiment about supercap pilots effectively being stuck in their ship. really ought to be a way around that. the jump clone thing makes sense. why couldn't we just jump into and out of said clone?
