Originally by: Zyck By the end of the war the US had deployed over 8 million servicemen in the army alone to Europe
A figure which is even below the number of Red Army soldiers who died to the Nazis: around 10 million Soviet military casualties, plus another 14 million dead civilians.
Another figure we are not so keen to mention in the West is that around 80% of Nazi casualties on WWII died to the Russians, with the rest of the Allies just accounting to 20%.
I'm not a historian, and I'm certainly no friend of the Soviet regime, but I did have a German girlfriend who studied history specializing on the Cold War, and she told me modern day German historians agree they lost WWII primarily to the Russians.

The war was lost with Operation Citadel/Battle of Kursk. The largest tank battle in history.

This is certainly true, but I'd say 8 million+ infantry isn't too bad when you also have to cross about 3,000 miles /4800km of water to get there and then maintain supply lines. Though it is certainly a bit wrong that the Russians never seem to get as much credit as they should, especially when over 20 million of them were killed in the war, including civilians, and a big chunk of the western parts of the country were burned down.

US industry and Russia pretty much made sure that the ****s where totally screwed. a country the size of germany never had the ability for a two front war.
Heck if the ****s had kept fighting past august 1945 I bet Berlin would have gotten nuked.

It's kind of funny, yet sad, how hatred for a country makes some people so blind and stupid.

Quote: I don't know about huge. The US has always had little in the way of raw materials compared to other countries, and is instead the biggest importer of raw materials, but the people who were actually fighting ******, and not just sitting back looking for business opportunities, would have accepted deals for any extra war materials offered, no matter how small.
Do yourself a favour and gain at least SOME knowledge of the subject you are talking to so that you don't look like a complete fool. The USA has had and still has a ton of natural resources. Are you nuts?
Quote: Japan was only ever a minor power. Even though what they lacked in numbers they more than made up for with determination, they were still largely ignored by everyone else because they didn't pose a signifigant threat. As for pearl harbor, it's pretty established now that the US had cracked the Japanese ciphers, intercepted communications from the Japanese about the coming pearl harbor attack, pulled all the high ranking officers and cryptography teams out, and allowed it to happen. I know that probably goes against your world view so you won't accept it. But there it is.
Japan was only ever a minor power? Peral Harbour was a flase flag operation? Jesus man, is there ANY conspiracy you DON'T fall for?
Quote: The RAF didn't beat back every bombing run and raid or shoot down every missile. What they did do was cause enough damage that the Germans weren't confident they could launch a full scale invasion, which would have been required to knock them out of the war
A necessary pre-condition for Germany invading the UK was air superiority. They failed to to gain this. Largely because of RADAR and the SPITFIRE. read some history dude.
Quote: The Germans wanted to eliminate the RAF before attempting an invasion, and they were denied that by the RAF simply not taking to the air in full numbers. Which was a smart decision by them. However that's as far as it went in terms of the RAF stopping an invasion. Before ****** could ever get around to trying an invasion he was losing all his points to launch one from.
Wow, this is so dumb. Radar and the Spitfire. Also, Goering and ****** switched from attacking runways and radar installations to attacking the cities which was a welcome repriece for the RAF and the RCAF. Learn some basic history dude. You are making a fool of yourself.

From my experience they get too much credit. Pretty much everytime those discussions end up with people claiming the russians single handedly defeated the ****s. They certainly made a huge contribution, but without US material they would have most likely lost, or at least lost alot more ground.
Also looking at the casualties and claiming from that that russians were more important in defeat of **** germany is ridiculous. You do not become more important by using ******ed strategies and suiciding your army units.
