Maybe you should compare ammo from sisi, with ammo from TQ?

ORLY? Hail to me looks like it got a slight damage boost, less of a tracking penalty (-30% instead of -50%) and no more cap penalties.

T2 ammo for long range weapons (Arty, Rail, Beam) has been updated but ammo for short range weapons (Autocannon, Blaster, Pulse) hasn't.
And if this ammo isn't updated as well, they remain useless as they are now, faction ammo is still way superior.
I hope CCP is doing something about that, for example removing the drawbacks on this type of ammo or give them a lot more damage.

Reading comprehension fail. The T2 short range ammo changes have been on sisi since they released the patch last week.
Tranquility Conflagration M SiSi Conflagration M
Tranquility Hail M SiSi Hail M
Tranquility Void M SiSi Void M
All T2 short range ammo got a slight damage boost, and a reduction in the tracking penalties.

So Hail gets the cap use penalty removed, but on Conflag it remains? Sounds balanced.

Seeing that projectile weapons don't consume any capa I don't see why T2 ammo should modify any of this.

This changes is still crap. Still useless changing the faction ammo to t2.

My point was that T2 short range ammo is still way underpowered compared to long range or faction. Because these changes are nearly nothing.

The changes I've seen to t2 short ranged ammo on SISI so far are insufficient for it to be of any use. T2 short range ammo will remain worthless from the looks of it.
Thus far you shall read, but no further; for this is my sig. |

So what was the use of void again ? To make my blasters equal to scorch with 1/100th of range and sucking even more cap while dealing less damage ?

Actually its a very siginificant amount. Currently, Conflagration does about 1% more damage than imperial navy multifrequency, but with these changes it will do about 11% more damage. This is also true for void vs. CN antimatter and Hail vs. RF emp, phased plasma or fusion. I do believe that hail got the best deal, however, as it got a tracking boost, damage boost and the cap recharge penalties removed, but then again none of the other T2 ammo had cap recharge penalties.

Hail never had cap use penalty (as it doesn't use any cap in the first place). It had per-gun cap recharge penalty that would nerf your cap regen all to hell with 6-8 turrets loaded with that stuff (i.e. even when not firing).

Edited by: Zhim''Fufu on 17/11/2010 07:38:23 Bah, who cares about the short range t2 ammo when faction is still plentiful and cheap. The standout for me is the massive drop in penalty for aurora. -75% penalty to tracking changed to -25%? Oh boy oh boy time to break the snipoc and most especially the beam slicer out of the hanger.
Also a massive boost to zealots.

I dunno I see this as a good job in balancing.
New Hail vs. RF Fusion +11.5% damage -30% tracking -50% optimal -50% falloff
While the -range and -tracking really hurt this turns Hail into a blaster type ammo best used on webbed targets or targets larger than yourself. Think cane vs domi or jaguar vs a t1 cruiser or if you have a huginn/rapier buddy then hail away.
It certainly won't replace faction ammo but I don't think it should, T2 ammo is supposed to be highly specialized and useful in only certain situations. With these changes it is exactly that and although I will still be firing a lot more RF Fusion, I will always now keep a reload of hail with me. Damn the missiles, punch full speed and load hail, pew pew mofos. - It's not "Play through a pre-set story, become stronger, do endgame". Gameplay is open ended, and you make your own story. Unless you're too afraid of 'pvp grief' to do anything relevant |

Even without the Aurora changes, it is a bit of an undeserved boost to Amarr, who are the only race who can really make proper, full use of different ammo types using rapid ammo changes.

Considering all the mandatory level 5 skills it takes to make amarr ships and weapons work I call it a just reward.
And don't give me any guff about having to crosstrain all skillsets to make minnies worth using as you can skimp and only put the majority to level 4 past the racial ships and weapons. Support skills can all sit at 4 or even in some cases 3.

Want to check my pilot on eveboard? And it's still a pretty terrible minnie pilot, I've yet to train all the missile skills :(
Also, any other long-range t2 ammos got any changes? Tremor might be marginally useful with only a 25% tracking nerf.. I'd check myself but at work atm. ---

As far as I know the T2 ammo rebalance was only for the "short range" versions, so Javelin, Void, Hail, Quake, Gleam and Conflag.

Someone said aurora only sports 25% tracking nerf rather than 75% now though. If this really is the case, and Tremor and Spike are unchanged, then I guess it really is time to train amarr :( |

CCP, I am disappoint.
Void still useless.
I would LOVE to see how the team comes to conclusions about balancing items internally though - it would make for a good dev blog.

Edited by: Cantana Soul on 17/11/2010 16:50:17 LOL you dont need missile skills to be extremely useful with Minmatar. Their best ships use guns only. Also to those that think otherwise beouse of the typhoon... Half of Amarr t2 ships are missile boats.
On subject, you guys are crazy if you think they will make t2 ammo as good as faction. Its the point of faction, to be the best. (not including officer or complex mods) Faction ammo will always be better then t2, as it should.

T2 is not supposed to be "the best", it needs a role, which theese t2 ammos lack (or its a stupid one and only works in the dev's imagination).

Good balancing ? Useless changes. You will lost +1%DPS advantage from penalties and you will hit much better with faction ammos. Just orbit and you will hit crap with t2 ammos and no matter if enemy using on you 3-4 web.
