The rewards are brilliant, if they make them harder then the rewards should be even more brilliant.
If you don't want to pay for PLEX cards every few weeks then grind is a lot of what this game is about. It's way too close to real life in the respect you grind 1/3 of your game time, have fun 1/3 of your game time and spin around in the station (sleeping) 1/3 of your game time.
If the make missions harder and don't increase the rewards or worse decrease them, then people like myself will just have to find another way to fund my character until they nerf that as well. If they nerf too many things then the amount of grinding people will need to do to progress through the game will exceed their staying power and the subscription turnover will spike and numbers will dwindle.

Been playing for so long that i've done most things in eve. Welcome new things like this, sure probably needs some teething, but more content is what we want!
And for those mission runners whining, it's a big game, find something else to do.

In most games, when things like this get added, and solo players are annoyed by it:
(1) Annoyed solo player Alpha says in local chat, "Sansha Incursion is interfering with my missions. Any other mission runners want to help drive them out so we can resume business as usual?"
(2) Annoyed solo players Beta through Omega reply, "Fleet invite please."
(3) Annoyed solo player fleet grudgingly work together to slay the incursion, get some small money out of it, and split up to continue their business.
It's just not that big of a deal. If incursions happen at lvl 4 hubs, the incursions will probably not last very long at all.

Or they could, you know, use the 2 months remaining to build up standings with a couple of alternative agents (actually this will only take a few days but hey, why not do two or three?). Then they'd be barely inconvenienced at all.
As a special bonus, the learning skills reimbursement provides an excellent opportunity to cross train to a new race, so you can train Amarr to kill blood raider rats or whatever.
Malcanis' Law: Whenever a mechanics change is proposed on behalf of "new players", that change is always to the overwhelming advantage of richer, older players. |

The only problem is that only the fleet that contributes most gets points.
If they just gave each pilot points equal to his contribution, then there would be nothing stopping mission runners from plotting their raven towards the incursion and joining the fray. As it is, a random pilot joining the fray will be pretty pointless unless there's a fleet willing to take him in. (And why wold there be? There's no incentive for organized fleets to admit more members).

You're missing a couple steps.
(2.1) Someone encourages the fleet to use remote reps because that's the only real way to compete against other remote-repping gangs. Then war targets show up to kill everyone who flagged themselves. Or, more likely, the remote-repping advocate shoots another player to get himself CONCORDED, and CONCORD shoots the whole fleet because of the remote-rep daisy chain. The advocate's alt(s) picks up loot and salvage.
(2.2) Solo player whines on the forums about how he's screwed if he doesn't fight the Sansha (reduced bounties) and screwed if he joins a random fleet (CONCORDED).
(2.3) Solo player gets trolled for being a solo mission-runner so he starts joining random fleets and advocating remote-repping.
Most solo players won't make it to (3) either because they weren't remote-repping and losing to remote-repping fleet (only the most efficient gangs get the rewards), or remote-repping and getting blown up for their naivety.

If your fleet is remote-repping (which is the only way to compete against a fleet that is also remote-repping), then inviting a random person into your fleet has a high chance of getting your whole fleet CONCORDED or blown up by war targets.

I just stumbled upon this thread after looking for more info on incursions. Is CCP doing anything about remote-repping mechanics?

Hopefully laughing at clueless people getting popped who fail to simple precautions in a multi player sandbox

Edited by: Shakon on 25/01/2011 18:55:51 Most people will simply move, Why do this stuff theres No reward and No reason to do them, And why fleet up witha bunch of losers who claim everyone must PVP you know they will shoot you first chance they get preferably when you cant shoot back.
The whole things stupid.. Funny part is eve used to be PVP only and it failed utterly until they added pVE. went form 10k idiots to 50k online.
Ah well lets see if the numbers drop any. Seems liek this is just a big hand out to the big corps as CCP has already stated everyone in a NPC corps is an RMTer anyway.... Along with Target Painting structures... Got to love Developers who are Dummer than the average game player,
Damn type bad while drinking hahaha Ah man i fergot Can have yer stufz?

Wow have you quit yet? because your whining is unbearable... "WAT! I HAZ TO JUMP TO ANOTHER SYSTEM..."
Just please go away.
