Official Published Report of the Disaster at Averon V
At 21:30:39 on 11-11-112 YC four intensely powerful detonations occurred six kilometers above sea level on Averon V. These detonations where later measured to have ranged with a combined power of approximately 300 megatons. A Fireball nearly thirty kilometers around Vaporized the entirety of the Sonan Mountain range. What was not vaporized was instantly bombarded by Radiation levels beyond Fifteen Million Gray and thrown high into the atmosphere at a height of around 168 kilometers.
Within 30 minutes Sonan city, approximately 170 kilometers away, was hit by the fallout after reports had come in of seeing a blinding flash in the west. A 100 percent casualty rating is expected due to Radiation being in excess of ten million gray when it hit. Within the day the cloud had traveled over 2,380 kilometers. By day 2 several more cities where hit by the radiation, stabilizing from it's ten million gray level down to only twenty thousand gray, but still enough to instantly kill anyone within it outside of ones in Radiation suits. Nuclear winter has begun to set in over the blast sight and massive seismic shock waves have been detected around the area. Orbital images of Ground Zero show the crust has been ruptured in several areas, leaking magma into the radioactive wasteland.
By day 3 the Radiation has traveled almost four thousand kilometers and Evacuation of the planet is about 52 percent complete. Focusing in areas just in front of the cloud. The Death toll is still being tallied but current estimates are in the range of 93 million souls have been lost to the disaster. Almost an eighth of Averon V's total population.
The Detonation is still being theorized but from reports it supposedly occurred due to over stressing of four experimental reactors mounted in high speed drop ships meant to act as quick insertion vessels. Attempt to safely self-destruct the vessels failed causing the ships to overload and cause the disaster we are hearing about today. More details will be added, time permitting, when they arrive.
Currently CONCORD and the Gallente Federation are jointly working to try and contain this disaster.
