If 'they' wanted WWIII to happen it would.
He really just avoided an event which would be explained away as a terrible accident. Like selectively bombing several red cross buildings in a month and claiming it's because of old satellite maps. You'd be surpised what people will believe.

World wars only happen when the elites who run everything decide there are too many people and need to get rid of us, but also like to get rich selling the ammo.
Then all they have to do is wave flags for the state worshippers or do the God & Country thing for the Bible/Kuran thumpers and off the sheeple go into the meat grinder.
They could do this any moment, under any premise, whenever they want.

I suppose the Russians wanted it's presence felt by US led NATO so it stuck it's oar into the situation in Kosovo. And taking over an airport to be awkward. Gung ho US general ordered British forces to attack and take it but a British officer refused that order. A British general backed this up. Failure cascade avoided!
Read wiki stuff about the Chinese embassy bombing. All sorts of accounts cited. Though was caught my eye was that a F117 Stealth fighter was shot down. The technological secrets of the wreck would be highly prised I would imagine.

There was actually a Russian luitenent colonel who refused to nuke the USA in 1983 after a false computer alarm: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanislav_Petrov saving millions of lives. The USSR always kept it quiet though.

Likewise during the Cuban missile crisis. The Soviet Union had 3 submarines in the area which came under attack from US ships firing depth charges. They were forced to dive and as a result lost the ability to make contact with superiors for orders or info. Being under attack from a foreign power they naturally assumed that war had broken out between the US and USSR and so prepared to fire their nuclear weapons. Under those circumstances it needed all three Captains to agree to launch an attack on the US mainland - two of the captains were for it but one refused. One man, under attack and under pressure from his peers, chose the option of restraint and in so doing not only avoided starting World War 3 but almost certainly prevented a nuclear exchange between the US and the Soviet Union. After that incident the famous 'hotline' between the White House and the Kremlin was installed so that, in future, our glorious leaders could try talking to each other instead of letting their egos lead us to the brink of disaster.

Geographically and culturally, it often refers to working class Londoners, particularly those in the East End. Linguistically, it refers to the form of English spoken by this group.) insult lol

Read wiki stuff about the Chinese embassy bombing. All sorts of accounts cited. The general excuse that the wrong GPS co-ordinates were programmed into the bomb is weak. What caught my eye was that a F117 Stealth fighter was shot down. The technological secrets of the wreck would be highly prised I imagine. In any case deliberatley bombing embassys is idiotic.
What people don't know about stealth technology is that it isn't "invisible"; it doesn't render the plane invisible like Crysis or some crap like that. It simply reflects MOST electronic energy away from the receiver, like a ricochet...but not all of it. It's not perfect by any means and the Serbs were able to shoot it down because the SAM battery commander knew his equipment so well that he tuned the transmitter to a very low, very slow frequency that is useless against most aircraft, but ended up being just enough to guide the missile to impact. He actually went against an order not to screw with it after his request for better equipment was denied. It was really quite impressive.
Lots of Serbs like to claim how awesome they are because they shot down a stealth fighter, like they invented time travel or something, when they simply had an awesome battalion commander. There is no fool-proof weapons system, and there's a reason why our stealth technology is such a closely guarded state secret.

To complete thread derailment, I'll tell a funny story:
When the stealth fighter was just still a rumor, it was just known that it existed but no one had seen one yet I went to an airshow (this is long ago). We goggled at all the planes on the ground (ooh and aah) and then we came to an empty spot that just had 6 brake blocks on the ground. The tag read "Stealth Fighter (invisible)". Funniest thing evah .

Actually the one stealth shot down in war was also because at that time they kept flying the same flight path. so one night they played by sound and filled the air with dumbfire AA(Flakk) and scored a hit. Actually all you need to do is damage a stealth and then radar guided AA can see it.
as for WW3, the main reason no nukes have ever been launched in anger since two cities in japan heard "Nuclear Launch Detected" for real.. is MAD. there is a good reason that soviet commander type refused to launch in 1983. if even on of their ICBMs was inbound we would give em everything, they would give everything, everyone who had them would launch. and then we would have Fallout 3, the real story.

Except those Japanese cities never heard any warning message like that at all. They were taken by complete surprise hell they probably didn't know about such a weapon's excistence in the first place. Also they were nuked by nuclear bombs not missiles, so there wasn't any "launch" to speak of at all.
But yeah I get your point, nukes are horrible devices, and it's with good reason they aren't used lightly...

Pakistani nukes: US Navy estimated that they have between has between 35 and 95 nuclear warheads with a median of 60. Oh that's just swell! So if 5 nukes grow legs and walk into a cargo ship the west won't know. That it until the cargo ship enters the port of a naval city and detonates the nuke inside it.
This is probably why The US threatened to bomb Pakistan "back to the stone age"

If you're the only one with nukes, then any nukes used will cause all the necks in the world to turn to look at you.
Now, with all these nuclear missiles everywhere, just pick one manufactured wherever you need it to be manufactured, have it filled with uranium enriched in whatever facility you need it enriched in, and drop it wherever you fancy.
Even within your territory. Against your unsuspecting folks.
Then have your boys in blue find the remains, and have their nicely typed dossier point at certain countries and certain caches of nuclear reactives and certain facilities. Feed it to the mass media.
Et voila! Go and invade, my friend. Go and invade.
Wars are periodically used to "fix" economies.

While pakistan is not one of the most stable countries, still their access to nukes probably saved millions, if not more, lives. India and pakistan have had enough border skirmishes, and i think their relation now isnt too bad, however without nukes there is a good chance they would have started a full scale war. That is a different scale than the kosovo war.
Nukes probably prevented quite some major wars, but if it goes wrong, it will really go wrong.

Courage and brains I'd say. I too wouldn't hesitate to question rambling orders from a foreign commander as I'm sure american soldiers do routinely.

nukes are the only reason WW3 has not found a way to break out yet. now that every major player in the world has "the bomb" we are stuck with proxy wars over natural resources.

Nukes are a good thing so long as they remain unused. There hasn't been a war between major powers since the nuclear bomb was created. The US and USSR certainly would have gone at each other's throats if it wasn't for the ludicrous amounts of nukes both of them had.
Of course, this comes at a price, the ever present threat of nuclear warfare and the total extinction of the human species. But hey, it's worked so far.

Mystery Missile Launch Off Calafornia Coast And ex deputy secretary of defense casually speculated that it could be a show of strength to 'Asia'. That's a rather flamboyant comment from someone who you would assume to be still in the loop.
And this happened during Obama's visit to the G20 talks in Asia. At this summit one to one talks between USA and China broke down to the extent that other countries intervened to try and reconcile the breakdown. The spin from US media is not of cold war but of 'hedging'. Like a financial play that hopes for the best but also plans for bad.

Slight topic drift... I feel sorry for cities that get boned with the G20 conference. Really I need this explained, why does anybody want to host that thing? you have to close down whole parts of your city, spend millions on police, **** of the citizens of the city because they have to totally change their movement patterns.
They should just park a special "G20 Center" out the middle of the Nevada desert and have it with everything needed on site, hotel rooms, food, meeting areas, etc. and if they put it on Nellis AFB it would be in an automatic no fly zone and have exclusive runway access.
Does not need to be in a city anyway as I doubt those guys run down to the local coffee shop for some coffee and Doughnuts in the mornings.

It was almost certainly the trail of an aircraft, as several missile and aircraft experts have said. But the media, being the media, immediately jumped on the "OMG WE'RE DOOMED EVERYONE WATCH OUR TV SHOW TO FIND OUT HOW" bandwagon and caused the sensation.

Edited by: Vogue on 15/11/2010 19:43:45 I don't usually post melodramatic stuff. But I gave that vid some credibility as an ex high up Pentagon type did speculate 'well it could be an submarine ICBM launch'. And behind closed doors USA and China are arguing with each very strongly. Now what would be sensationalist if a GPS guided bomb hits someones embassy by accident. Oh wai...
I really really do not want another cold war. But empires do not give up easily.
