Greetings!
My name is Chris Taurus and I recently moved to 0.0 (Providence) with my alliance. This is my story:
I have always been most fond of PvP in EvE and used to hang around in corps like Red vs Blue to get the most amount of fights. I had a blast, but eventuelly I ran out of ISK. This was mostly due to flying T2 hulls (and more often than not, losing them in the progress). One of my real life friends was in an alliance in 0.0 and it so happened that they were looking for more pilotes. I moved my ships down and got settled in rather quickly. I find life in 0.0 to be a nice break from highsec, but I have some trouble making ISK.
This is my question:
What are some of the ways I can make a living in 0.0? I have never done a mission in my life, so if there are any agents I can probably not use them.
I have tried ratting, but I always run out of things to kill rather quickly.
If is there is anything (other than players) to kill to make a profit, I would be interested to know.
My skills are mostly PvP oriented (25 million SP), but I have some skills I hope will translate well into PvE. (Plese let me know if there is a way to copy and paste my skills here)
I have Caldari frigate, cruiser and battleship at V I can use all T2 shield modules and have the related skills all at IV and V I have all missile skills at either IV or V (can use T2 light and heavies)
Given this information. What would be my options?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Your problem is right there.
You said it yourself.
You moved to Providence.

Providence is one of the worst 0.0 regions for isk making. Even so the best way to make is solo with your skills is to run cosmic anomolies. How many anomolies are available and how quickly they respawn will depend on what upgrades (if any) the system owners have put in place. Anomolies are found using the on board scanner of any ship. The best ones to run are sanctums, but havens are easier and still nice isk. A t2 fit raven will handle either, tho sanctums can be challeging.

Thanks for the information guys. I have a couple of questions regarding what you said:
My torp skills are much better than my cruise missile ones, but should I train up cruise to use on my Raven?
My long term goal on this character is a little uncertain. Is there any ships I could train towards that would make ISK making a little easier? I have always thought the Golem looked pretty cool, but I have found no use for one in PvP. That said, I am not that far way from being able to fly one decently.
As a benchmark, how much ISK should I be able to make? Would salvaging be wise or should I just blitz through the anomalies?

Depends on the rats, but with angels I have found, that if you make over 14mil per tick running anoms, it's not worth salvaging. Unless you have a second account sitting doing nothing... then it's always worth it.
All this of course depends on many things. Like position of the wrecks, if they are all in a nice small ball, or in a line so that you can easily reach them with 20km beams. How far you need to go to drop your load off and how good is your access to hi-sec to sell the stuff.
Switching ships each time you clear an anom is inefficient too. Best to bookmark your wrecks and then come back within 2 hours before they expire.
And there are really no dedicated pvp or pve skills, except for ewar. It's the fittings that concern you. With rats it's usually whatever gets the job done the quickest. Best bet would probably be all-gank sniper raven. Just warp in at 100 and start shooting rats.
If you search the forums you will find a million raven fits. Just pick one with rigor and calefaction rigs + 4 BCUs and you have yourself an isk-printer. - This one time, at gate camp, I shot a shuttle... |

Thank you! I will try that.
I just wanted to point out that my 25 million SP are spread all over the place and not in a manner that would suit me best for PvE.
While I still wish to PvP on this character. I will probably spend some time getting my Raven optimized with regards to skills and fittings. Would a Golem be a decent long term goal? (Or is something like a CNR better) I have seen a lot of people use their carriers for this stuff. Is that just being lazy or will it kill things faster than a dedicated BS?
Just out of curiosity. What makes Providence worse for ISK making than other 0.0 regions?

Carriers don't have tanking problems. But they are slow and heavy... and fighters don't auto-aggro so it's alot of work to make them shoot rats.
If you already fly a tengu then go ahead and use that. Works just as well as a raven and it has more tank. Marauders are fine, but you need a ton of SP in battleship skills to make them work. Once you do have the skills, they blow everything else out of the water... apart from a thanatos with lvl 5 skills. - This one time, at gate camp, I shot a shuttle... |

I've heard people dislike Providence because its crowded. I wouldn't know as I've never lived there before, just what I heard. Relax! I'm here to save the forums!!! |
