I've recently decided that I'm willing to splurge on more expensive implants and hardwirings. Currently I'm using +4 and +3% implants, but I want to upgra to +5 and +5%, next year.
Problem is, my main and alt both only have Cybernetics skill at lvl4, so I thought I'd have to train it to 5. Except I checked out a +5% powergrid implant (which seems relevant to help my main fit his Nighthawk), and it only requires Cybernetics 4.
So what good does Cybernetics 5 do? How important and useful is it? I've always assumed that all the best implants, the highest grades, required it trained to lvl 5.

Many of the +5% weapon hardwires require level 5.

Thanks.
Are there any implants that improve warfare link bonuses?
I've looked through a couple of wiki lists of implants, and I think these are the most attractive, many of which I already have in +3% versions in both my main and alt.
6 +PG ("squire" something) 7 ZMH (heavy missile damage) or KVA (shield hp) 8 CC (capacitor points) 9 KYA (shield recharge) 0 ZMM +3% RoF all (missiles or all weapons?)
#6 +PG is new, I used to have +CPU, because I kinda had trouble fitting my Drake once, but now my Nighthawk is giving me powergrid trouble, whereas it has plenty of CPU. My alt is still in a Drake, so I guess he'll stick with +CPU for now.
ZMH in #7 for hvy missile damage is kinda attractive. I can fly a Battleship, but I kinda prefer slightly smaller ships. I used to mission with my alt in a Drake and my main in a Navy Raven, but now my main is in a Nighthawk, so ZMH seems like a good choice.
Shield HP affects passive recharge, and currently my NH is passive shield tanked, but I still think I'd prefer more DPS, for missions and for the upcoming Incursions. And maybe visiting wormholes.
#8 isn't too relevant for my alt, his Drake is very cap stable, but my Nighthawk says it will run out of cap in 1h57mins. I figure more capacitor points also means indirect faster recharge, like with fitting a cap battery.
#9 is good for passive shield tankers. Won't help my main in his Navy Raven, but in the Nighthawk it's good.
#10 is just more gank. Yes please?
Anything I've overlooked? My NH is fitted with the warfare link module that improves shield resistances, which is the one that appeals to me the most.
I'm also interested in massive tank, because I don't yet know how much damage there is in Incursions.

Yes. Look up these, all in slot 10: Armored Warfare Mindlink, Information Warfare Mindlink, Mining Foreman Mindlink, Siege Warfare Mindlink, Skirmish Warfare Mindlink.
You would want a Siege Warfare Mindlink if you were fleet boosting in a Vulture or Tengu. The Nighthawk cannnot realisticly equip a gang link, so you don't need it for that ship.

Yes, I have fitted the Siege link. Powergrid cost is painful (200 MW - ouch), so I'll look into the Mindlink. Thanks.

I have a suspicion you may not understand the difference between the gang links and the mindlinks (the implants). The gang links provide a bonus. The mindlink boosts the gang links. Without a gang link, a mindlink does NOTHING.

The mindlinks also give 50% to the base warfare skill. EX: skirmish mindlink gives 15% agility instead of 10% for skirmish warfare 5. Derp.

Not entierly true, each mindlink has a fixed secondary bonus as well, such as 15% agility on the Skirmish Mindlink.

This is totally incorrect.

As well as boosting the ganglinks the mindlink also boosts the respective warfare skill, so it does infact do something without the mindlink.

Edited by: Zendoren on 25/11/2010 05:57:48 The mind link replaces the base modifier of a particular booster; Thus giving a better overall multiplyer to the gang links.
Having a mindlink w/out ganglinks will give you marginal benefit; however, like most things in EVE if you doing things half @ss then you doing it wrong!

On top of what the other guys were saying...
[*]Numon Family Hierloom - Slot 6, -7% Armor Repairer Cycle Duration. Instantly transforms your T2 repper into a semi-faction repper.
[*]Michi's Excavation Augmentor - Slot 7, Mining Amount + 5%. [*]Highwall HX-2 - Slot 9, Mining Amount + 5%. [*]Yeti BX-2, - Slot 10, Ice Harvester Cycle Duration - 5%. Essentials for elite miners / ice miners.
[*]Gypsy KNB-75 - Slot 7, Scan Resolution + 5%. Good if you want the extra 2% scan resolution over the 3% version. Useful for tacklers / snipers, although too expensive to be used in general combat operations.
[*]All large weapon specific 5% hardwires. 'nuff said.
[*]Akemon's Modified 'Noble' / 'Noble' ZET5000 - Slot 10, Armor HP + 8% / 5%. Essential for every sensible super capital pilot out there.
I think that's pretty much it. A lot of neat stuff gets unlocked with Cybernetics V, so it's worth 12 days if you have the money to actually purchase all the +5s / respective hardwires.

Cybernetics V makes a good place to put your learning skillpoints after Dec 14th, if you don't want to train it up or have Per and Will maxed. The 100 million to 500 million price tag for most of these implants might be more of a problem.
