Say you're doing one of the harder level 4 missions and you screw up badly. What kind of DPS would your battleship be taking?

The most difficult rooms have around 1500dps total. But that's assuming you really take all the damage which is pretty hard to do even if you have all the agro. Not all the enemies start in their optimal range and they won't hit you perfectly etc. I think a realistic worst case scenario is about 1000dps.

1500 DPS without resists added in, the magic number ive come up with is 141 shield recharge rate with 75-80 resists and you can pretty much tank all lvl 4s. Pretty easy with a drake, real easy if you 2 box with decent leadership skills.
Some missions will pop that easy if you hit all the triggers, Attack of the drones is one of them.

This will help you with triggers

I remember a woman used to only do level 3 missions, she did them in an abbadon.
A corpmate invites her to the worlds collide L4 mission where somehow she shoots the spies in Room 2.
She ends up getting all aggro and losing her BS. She had an emo breakdown for the next 2 days. It was lulz. Relax! I'm here to save the forums!!! |

Me and my equally hardcore alt just did lvl4 Attack of the Drones, and the first thing we did on warp-in was to focus fire on the big mama drone, causing all the other drones to appear. Once we had pwned mama drone, we pwned the other drones (with a little help from our own drones).
My alt was first to warp in, in his Drake, and took most of the DPS, but he never got below maybe 45% or 55% shield. I was in my Nighthawk, and took very little damage.
If I had done it solo, in either ship, fitted for tanking (instead of 1 BCU on each ship), I suspect I could have survived it all. Barely. Same if my alt has solo'ed it in his Drake (he can't fly Nighthawks yet). Splitting the incoming DPS between two passive tanked ships, even if the split is uneven, it's very doable.
I wouldn't want to try Attack of the Drones in that style, in a Navy Raven, though.
(I think my alt has an omni-tank of 1300 or 1400 DPS in his Drake. My NH is a little bit weaker.) -- Salpad |

There are some level 4 missions which far-exceed the 1500dps. However most are <1000dps.
Some missions / rooms that can be troublesome with a <1000dps tank: Bonus room of Angel Extravaganza The Blockade The Assault Smash the Supplier
Smash the Supplier can be hard. Its against Amarr (EM damage) and its a LOT of battleships. Your not required to actually kill them, but you have to tank them while you kill the tower.

Pardon me for trolling this forum, but I cannot resist. Why do you people insist on making the easiest things in this game, so much harder than it has to be.
Has it to do with too much veldspar fumes or just some failure to evolution as a whole?

Can be done that way solo pretty easily in a Legion, just pop the figs as they come into scorch range and the rest is speed tanked enough to get away with around a 300 DPS tank.

Why do people say this? Seriously the mission is EASIER if you kill the mother drone first. i did that in a t1meta4/t2 regular raven as a noobie. The mother drone is the only thing that hurts you, the other ships have crap dps. Kill the mother drone asap and the mission is a cakewalk. Seriously try it. It is MUCH easier that way despite what eve survival say.

Attack of the Drones is the mission you can finish by popping only one of the four triggers then killing its spawn. Rogue Drone Harassment is the mission with the one BS that spawns other ships as it takes damage. They barely do any damage so it's easier to just spawn them all then kill everything.

Edited by: Iron Eater on 22/11/2010 07:56:35 Its impossible to tank full aggro in all missions with a BS size ship. The trick is not to take full aggro. Stay aligned to be able to warp out immediately if things go wrong, and take out scrambling frigs with small drones asap. Also zoom out and use the tactical view. That way you can see what ship belongs to which wave. After a while you will have learned the triggers and L4 missions will become easy.
Its very likely that you will loose one or two BS if you are a beginner. Look at it as an investment that will pay off after a week or so.
