Edited by: mill veters on 22/11/2010 03:59:24 Edited by: mill veters on 22/11/2010 03:58:25 why do the dual weapons have lower damage than the single version,
~ 150mm railgun 2.0x damage (small) ~ 150mm railgun (dual) 1.5x (medium)
okay diffrent sizes , but less damage ???

The Dual 150mm railgun uses medium ammo. The (single) 150mm railgun uses small ammo.
An unbonused Dual 150mm Railgun I with Antimatter M does 1.50 + 24 = 36 damage in one volley. Its unbonused rate of fire is 3.90 s, which means 9.2 DPS. An unbonused (single) 150mm Railgun I with Antimatter S does 2.75 + 12 = 33 damage in one volley. its unbonused rate of fire is 4.25 s, which means 7.8 DPS.
As you can see, the dual weapon has 20% greater DPS.

lower multiplier yes, but the dual uses medium ammo. The damage of the weapon is the ammo x the damage multiplier of the gun ( and skills of course)

CCP's naming of things is sometimes confusing. The 150mm rail and the dual 150mm rail are two completely different weapons, for different purposes. One is a frigate weapon, the other is a cruiser weapon.
If you were to go by the name, you'd think the dual-150 is 2 150's mounted on the same turret, but the weapon uses the medium size ammo (not sure how that works exactly - you cut the charge in half, lengthwise, and shove it down each barrel?), and it has cruiser-size range and tracking characteristics.
