Use these commands as seperate shell scripts to set the priority of your clients to help your PVP main run faster, and your scouts/indy chars run with a little less zing. With zero being the highest priority for non-root I run mine like this:
nice -n 0 wine explorer /desktop=EveClient1,1024x768 "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\eve.exe" nice -n 19 wine explorer /desktop=EveClient2,1024x768 "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\eve.exe" nice -n 19 wine explorer /desktop=EveClient3,1024x768 "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\eve.exe"
Here is the result of ps -ef to show how this is working on the executables, and as you can see client 1 is using the most resources. Also as an added bonus my system as a whole seems more responsive, with web browsing especially being a whole lot faster
napalmdeath 23355 1 83 09:07 pts/0 00:31:46 C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\bin\Exe napalmdeath 23381 1 35 09:08 pts/1 00:12:50 C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\bin\Exe napalmdeath 23412 1 30 09:08 pts/2 00:11:08 C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\bin\Exe

Thanks, going to run my sisi client lower... it always annoyed me that it screwed my main.

This is interesting.
Just curious, what are your system specs? I had not considered this option because Eve doesn't even come close to maxing out my processor even with multiple clients.

I'm running on a Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop with 3GB of memory, nearly 3 years old but still chugging along |

another idea to help run a bit faster reduce the resolution and detail on the other characters :)

@fanaka thanks for the heads up on this, its funny how the little things just slip by until there pointed out. You know how it goes, forest for the trees and all that. I just dropped these into my .bashrc and it works like a champ.
alias eve='nice -n 0 wine explorer /desktop=1,1920x1080 "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\eve.exe"' alias salvage='nice -n 19 wine explorer /desktop=0,1366x768 "C:\Program Files\CCP2\EVE\eve.exe"'

Just a little something I have discovered since my last post regarding process priority with EvE and Linux. Personally I run ArchLinux as my distro of choice, about 2 days ago I noticed a package in the AUR called wine-rt 1.3.11-1. After reading the docs and installing I have found this version of wine to be quite superior to most others as it allows you to run processes in "real time" hence the RT in the package name. Starting my main toon in real time and my alt at nice 19 has given me even greater stability and an more predictable asymmetrical approach to running multiple Eve clients at the same time.
