Am I the only one who has a problem with this? I've spent 2 remaps 2.5 months just on skills with an alt and now I find out becides the killer amount of sp's I'll get, some punk who hasn't done the time is going to be as skill intensive as me? And the remaps that where designed around the learning skills I'm not going to get back? This is the first time I have ever been upset with EVE, everything else has been cool, but to waste my money on a subscription based on learning skills when I could have been cruising around in cool rides by now, I feel as if eve has wasted my 'real life'and a year worth of remaps, how dare you. Thats not fair and ya just can't pass it off as in 'that happens when eve changes' How many people in EVE remaped to just get there characters attritubes stronger? How many here want a remap for this 'pirating by eve' happening? I hope with enough support this second change can have a remap in it. Please vote 'YES' for remap!

Sit back. Relax. Think again. Do your maths:
So you spent 2.5 months learning, you used a remap and thus learned with greatest speed possible?
Great. Take the SP you get out and dump them into the skills you want that have the lowest learning rate NOW. (like Leadership if you have no charisma or something like that) It will be the same as if you had remapped to charisma, learned at maximum speed for exactly the same time - and remapped back.
Maybe you still think you are at a disadvantage since you do not want any skills for which you now don't have good attributes.
Consider this: If you would not have learned learning skills, your total SP would now be significantly lower than WITH your learning skills. The total does not change, so you still keep that same advantage over any player who learned less learning. Whats wrong with this?
And last: Even if all this does not change your mind - don't you think a change of rules might be a good thing if it is positive for the vaast majority of players while only few suffer minor drawbacks?

why did you remap twice for your learning skills? That seems a little stupid

Its not like its harming you in any way. You are just getting a Charisma _bonus_ on top of the other attribute increases. Its not taking away from your other attributes, just adding to Charisma.
Also: I don't see a need to have Remaps if 1) We don't have to remap for learning skills anymore, and 2) we have pretty good attributes right off the bat now. IMHO we don't need remaps at all!

Stop whining. You get to put all those SP wherever you want them. I am pretty excited about putting 1.5 mil SP in gunnery.

Not with only 2.5M SP :P. But yeah, original poster hasn't thought this out very well. If you have absolute max implants and skills, you will lose ever so slightly but for everyone else, it's either no change + a SP refund or a boost. I look forward to dumping all that useless learning SP into something fun like fighters 5 or cruiser 5 for a race I haven't trained. Alternatively I could fill in some of the few gaps in my support skills which I'm not spec'd for (ie EM armor compensation 5).
Thus far you shall read, but no further; for this is my sig. |

I only got 37 days left for Carrier 5, and the rest will take a massive chunk out of Fighters 5. Both these skills take forever to train. Thats the god thing about this skill dump, you have all the benefits of the skills you were able to train with those learning skills, now they are being dumped, you can put those points into the big skills that takea long time to train. This will benefit the older players more because they will be at the point where they are ready to train these long training times, the newer players will not get this, but they noless will benefit in advancement to that level.

Edited by: Gavinat0r on 26/11/2010 04:31:07 Ive been playing for a long time now and I dont give a crap about the amount of time I spent training learning skills im just so happy that I can choose any t2 cruiser I want and get the t2 guns to go with it, in one day :). Thats just crazy. This is one of the best things that could happen and it should bring alot more people into the game. I look forward to the new shockwave of noobs around new eden :P, when I finaly get back to playing.
EDIT: I read through the post again and it doesnt actually say that remaps are gone, not as far as I can see anywas it only says that they are adding extra un mappable points which is grand. Otherwise Im losing like a day and a half of skillz training a month which is so bad I may have to think about cancelling my acc

Complain all you want, but the Learning section was a HUGE mistake -it just slows down a game that's already painfully slow. I spent the entire 1.6 mil accelerated training bonus time on the Learning section and I can't wait to re-use those skill points! I'm also hoping that more peeps will get into the game -too many jerks, and the Learning section, keeping them away now...

Edited by: Pesets on 26/11/2010 08:35:41 I was under impression that learning skills were the reason you had that extra remap in the first place. As it is now, you have over a million SP trained at the optimal SP/hour rate, and you get to apply them to any skill you want. As someone said already, it's like a mini-remap in its own right, except better.
If they end up keeping the free remap for new characters after Dec 14th, i suppose it would be fair to reimburse remaps for people who spent them on learning skills (probably easier to just give a free remap to anyone registered after, what was that expansion, Tyrannis)? Other than that, there really isn't much reason to be upset. Unless you're one of those people who maxed out Perc/Will and planned to train spaceship and gunnery skills for the next five years...
