Originally by: Tippia I support free choice, which is why the learning skills had to go.
A choice where one alternative is completely ******ed is not a choice.
Well, I tend to agree with you here, but even though spending the first month training only learning skills sounds ******ed, the reality is some people did choose to do it, so perhaps the choice shouldn't have been removed... -

Originally by: Black Dranzer I know, right? With the amount people complained, you'd almost think there was some kind of clear-cut long-term benefit to spending your first month training learning skills.

Originally by: Rovan Stargazer Every newbie, that asks, which skills he should train first gets the same answer. Learning skills... for one month at least.
Perhaps the solution would have been for people to stop giving stupid advice, rather than removing the topic of the stupid advice. -

Originally by: Jennifer Starling So whetever you did, it was never good.
Or, both were ok? By your reckoning, EVE was just altered to suit "AD/HD insta gratification immature kids". -

Originally by: Black Dranzer You call 20 days long term?
A month (i.e. 28 days) of learning skill training will not pay off 20 days after you start (that would be -8 days). -

Originally by: Black Dranzer You have to sit on your ass doing nothing for a mere two weeks in order to benefit by the third.
Or 'do nothing' for five minutes and benefit by the sixth. Your point? -

Originally by: Black Dranzer Learning skills have logarithmic return, not exponential return. What the hell are you talking about?
I'm just trying to figure out how 2 weeks of learning skills paying off in 3 weeks means a month of learning skills pay off in negative time. -

Originally by: Black Dranzer I guess you could call 3 months "long term" at a pinch.
Normally I wouldn't, but from the perspective of a brand new player? Definitely. -

Originally by: Forum Guy As people have said all along learning skills were not a real choice, it was a matter of when to train them
That's a choice.
Originally by: Forum Guy Of course the Eve community would tell new players to train the learning skills as soon as possible because it was the logical thing to do.
Well apparently not, since this supposedly caused people to quit the game. Quitting is a most ineffective strategy. -

Originally by: Forum Guy No, that just shows that the learning skills should never have been in the game, not that the peoples advice was wrong.
People quit over nonconsenual PvP. Obviously this shows it should not be in the game!

Originally by: Forum Guy As I said before in another post. We did ask for genuine good reasons for keeping them and none were put forward.
Complexity and choice. Not a lot of either, but since pretty much every argument for removing them is fallacious, it's all you really need. -
