EVE Online: Incursion 1.0.0 will be deployed on Tuesday, November 30, 2010. Incursion 1.0.0 features a new salvaging ship, the Noctis, a vast number of player-requested improvements and fixes as well as important server-side optimizations. For more information about the Incursion expansion, please visit our expansion website.
The deployment process will begin at 11:00 UTC and is expected to be completed at 14:00 UTC. Patch notes are available for review.
Incursion will be released in three parts. This is the first installment with the second part coming on December 14 when we remove learning skills. The final release in January, will contain the new character creator and Sansha Incursions. Full details can be found in the release blog from CCP Zulu.

Need for speed
* In order to facilitate fleet fights, network timeout values have been increased substantially from eight minutes. This will allow users to successfully jump and/or log into extremely loaded solar systems where the client will need to wait a very long time to complete. The players will also receive more informative messages under these extreme circumstances. * Repeating modules will no longer get into a ôstuckö state, where they cannot be switched off. * Improvements to module activation and reload responsiveness have been made. * Decisions about who should receive damage notifications were optimized. * Jumping through a stargate will now create less server load. * Compile-time constant handling was improved to give better runtime performance: As a result of replacing certain data look-ups with fixed constants, both client and server should be able to run slightly faster. * Fixed an issue in which a client receiving out of order packets would fail to load grid when jumping into a system. * A large amount of damage and effects states were being recalculated for every observer during fleet warps and mass jumps. This process is now much more efficient.

Loving seeing how many fixes there are in this patch, it's what we all wanted.
Shinies are all shiny and all, but fixes issues quells the rage!
Hoping to see some improved API regarding blueprints soon i.e. option to fetch all blueprints with ML/PL values either as part of char/corp assets or a seperate API call.
Cheers!

If you span EVE horizontally over several screens you can move the HUD that is usually in the center of the EVE window. So you can have HUD and your ship on one screen and all the windows on another.

Thanks for these
- Need for speed in general \o/
- The EVE client is now resizable in Windowed mode, allowing the players to stretch their client over several monitors.
- A new option, ôHorizontal offsetö has been added to the settings menu. It allows the player to have all menus on one monitor and focus on his ship in another monitor.
- A ôVolumeö column has been added to the hangar view by default; ôCategoryö, ôMeta Levelö and ôTech Levelö have been added as optional columns. Individual columns now can be toggled on and off through the right click menu.
- The order of options in right click menus has been changed and grouped to make it more consistent. This means that the more dangerous options like æTrashÆ appear towards the bottom of the menus with more useful options such as æShow InfoÆ appearing at the top.
WRT the resizable client window, does this mean that the resolutions allowed are now free-for-all, ie. no longer limited to the list of 'approved' resolutions?

Can i just check that Conflagration has had its tracking penalty totally removed unlike the rest of the high damage short range T2 ammo?

I am happy to see multiple monitor support in windows 7. I hope it is bugless. I hope it supports my 30" and my 20" I keep rotated. Both are 1600 in one direction. that would be 3760x1600 for my setup. If we can reposition the ship that would be ideal as I need it to show up where I want it on the unusual setup I am running. The window view will need to have the top and bottom bars removed. I hope this is what the custom window is that is described in the patch notes. If these bars are not removed it screws up the in EVE chat windows locations and so on.

Why were T2 missiles untouched? Unlike turrets, they ALL have negative ship drawbacks to either speed or signature bloom. Yet you left them out of this buff?.
Please provide insight into this decision.

ok i have a question about the new 'salvage ship'.......... where will it be available for purchase? will it be on the open market? i have heard that the print for it will only be available from ORE. and that this is how the production of this ship will begin is from these prints........ if this is so, then one alliance will end up with sole production of this ship and will in turn cause the prices on this ship unreasonable.... if this is the way it will work, then i feel it will in no way be the great gift it is being made out to be, itll just be another way for an overgrown day one alliance to extort unreasonable amounts of isk out of carebear missioners.

FYI ... the ORE systems are not sovereign space, the Outer Ring is controlled by ORE faction not players. Anyone can dock, buy said BPO, fly to high sec and produce the ship. For anyone that is willing to take the risk, there should be good profit. For those unwilling to take the risk, you will pay a premium.

Im sorry, but some players just dont have any interest in going to 00. i personally dont mind it, but there are lots of players that dont play eve for the pvp experience, and making the print available in one region of 00 space that isnt by definition sov to a single alliance, but IS controlled by them is unreasonable, because basically the carebears will be punished for not wanting to engage in the 00 experience by being charged an unreasonable amount of isk for a SALVAGE ship that will have no place or use in 00 space.

About Meta Items, it looks like meta 1-4 are remaining the same for id purposes? Can you verify? (aka no change). Personally I'd really like the meta 4s to be clearer, but I'll take any progress I can get.
As to T2 Ammo, thank you guys very much! Very nice modification.
To the players who don't want to go to ORE, don't worry it will come to you ... for a price. Its still better than T2 moon mats, get in a cloaked ship and go, you'll have more fun than rolling a barrel of goons down a hill.

And I don't have any interest in going to highsec, but that's where all the big market hubs are, it's not fair! There isn't a single station near me that seeds skill books when I want to train something new. No NPC stations to seed blueprints!
I'm very sorry if you feel "punished" but this is one of the worst cearbear whines I've ever heard in my life, you make me ashamed to be one.

Its very ****** up that the rocket balancing feedback thread is up for like a month, and T2 ammos are going to be released without official response to any questions raised regarding them.

- Rockets have had an explosion velocity boost. It means they will inflict more damage on faster moving targets whilst also gaining a straight damage boost through changes to rocket damage and rocket launcher rate of fire.
- The Ships section of the market has been reorganized and is now primarily sorted by hull class. In addition, all faction and special release ships have been added to the market so you can now trade them there in addition to contracts.
- A ôVolumeö column has been added to the hangar view by default; ôCategoryö, ôMeta Levelö and ôTech Levelö have been added as optional columns. Individual columns now can be toggled on and off through the right click menu.
- You can now rename ships in your hangar without making them active.
(Just highlighting my favorites)
This all, of course, begs the question: "Who are you and what have you done to the real CCP guys, producers of such ... erhm ... suboptimal releases such as Tyrannis?"

Edited by: Xero Cell on 27/11/2010 11:25:26 Wow, this expansion looks really great! Awesome work, CCP!
A lot of people are complaining that there isn't enough ground breaking changes in Incursion. But I disagree with this way of thinking. Eve doesn't need massive amounts of new content, it needs re-polished. And Incursion is doing exactly that, for the most part.
First of all, Incursion brings many, many changes. The feature page is massive, and well-worth a full read before you criticize CCP: http://incursion.eveonline.com/en/incursion/features
Now, this game is long, long overdue to a fix to all of the 'little things' that have had much needed work on for a long time. And Incursion is just that! An expansion of hundreds of small changes, rather than a couple massive ones. And I think that's perfect really, this game couldn't handle anything insane huge data wise right now. CCP is doing the right thing by making this expansion the way it is, I am very happy with their sensible thinking here.
A great example here is the meta level showing on items, or MWD and Afterburners now having different display pictures. And many other 'little' things that have always been a nuisance in the game. Although the Sansha Incursion is added 'new' content, it too was a tweak the game has needed for some time: More challenging PVE and better PVE rewards. It also adds an element of competitive PVE to the game, considering that only the best fleet gets the item/isk/lp rewards when the battle is over. If you have actually been thoroughly reading everything new in Incursion, you would see this is actually a great expansion. They are fixing hundreds of much needed problems in the game and adding some bonus content to boot.
I for one am not complaining. And I give props to CCP for a well-thought out expansion.
Thank you CCP for the hard work. Please ignore the complainers and continue to work exactly the way you have been.

Every other industrial in game (Badger, Iterons, ...) are cruiser-class vessels, so I'd place a high probability that the Noctis, being an ORE industrial, will be cruiser-class, too. The stated CPU and power grid numbers (on the fitting screen http://cdn1.eveonline.com/community/devblog/2010/noctis.jpg ) seem to be in the proper ranges for cruisers, too.

This is the first release of three of the expansion.
We are deploying the work we have done since summer in 3 releases; the 1st one on 30 Nov, the 2nd one on 14 Dec and the 3rd installment in mid to late Jan. The deployment of Incursion is going to span over approximately a month and a half. Like all good fireworks it's going to start off with a teaser, contain a surprise and end with a big bang:
The 1st release contains a collection of player requests we have been working on alongside the main expansion features and that we could easily extract from the expansion code base.
The 2nd release is the Christmas surprise; one part is the removal of learning skills. The other part of the Christmas surprise is still a surprise...
The 3rd release are then the headline features of the expansion, including but not limited to the new Character Creation, the Incursion feature, and a big iteration on Planetary Interaction and EVE Gate.

Like every expansion the DT is going to be +- 8 hours, also CCP it would be best if you don't put up like: "The deployment process will begin at 11:00 UTC and is expected to be completed at 14:00 UTC" we all know that the DT is going to be extra 6hours longer. I have faith that first time in 7 years the DT will be as planed, but fact is other. I would say add into this thing extra 6hours for fixing server side issues. Example: "The deployment process will begin at 11:00 UTC and is expected to be completed at 20:00 UTC"

I disagree. With the "fish-eye" distortion that gets very noticable with ultra-wide screen resolutions, I actually find space to be uglier at said resolutions. and very immersion-breaking when planets look more like an egg or football than an actual spherical object.

I just checked myself, and the patch notes are incorrect for Conflagration. Conflagration still has a tracking penalty, although it's a smaller penalty than before - now it's 0.7x as opposed to the old 0.5x penalty. Damage increase is correct, however. All other T2 changes appear to match the patch notes as well, although I only referenced Medium charges - I didn't check all 3 charge sizes of everything.

The EVE client is now resizable in Windowed mode, allowing the players to stretch their client over several monitors. Now EVE Online is much more beautiful in ultra-widescreen resolutions. There is a new version of Windowed Mode called Fixed Window. It is similar to the regular Windowed Mode but lacks any title bars, frames or borders. A new option, ôHorizontal offsetö has been added to the settings menu. It allows the player to have all menus on one monitor and focus on his ship in another monitor.

The reason for removing this contract type is that it was very seldom used and it was a breeding ground for scamming. This is much the same reason as for removing the 'freeform' contract type in Apocrypha 1.3.
For the legitimate loan contracts, almost every single one operates on trust and does not require collateral. For those contracts, an alternative would be to loan the items and/or money using an item exchange contract and then receiving the items back with another such contract.
We realize this is inconvenient for people that are using these contracts for legitimate means but when we compare the amount of work these contract scams add to our customer support department to the value that this contract type provide we feel that their removal is justified.

It is quite annoying to see all these responses to every other question but mine. I will ask again but perhaps in a nicer tone.
Ahem.
Dear noble and generous developers of Eve, why did you not boost T2 missile ammo in the same or similar fashion as you did turret ammo?
Was there some balance consideration that needed more time to tinker with? Are there plans to revisit this issue in the future? Will it take as long as the rocket fix? Ooops that last one was not nice, but I tried.

CCP -
I just wanted to throw my two cents in and say that I REALLY REALLY like the way EVE is going these days.
I love how you guys are addressing all the little things that needed polish as the game evolved and how you are rebalancing them to make them relevant or just plain old fixing them. YOU GUYS ROCK.
I also love the staggered deployment - It ends up being like Christmas three times instead of once. :) Not to mention - surprises??? :) Those are always good.
I really like how EVE is becoming more user friendly without dumbing down the complexity of the game. Despite the nay-sayers on removing learning skills too - I think that was a hard but well thought out decision. I have a character that I spent months training his learning skills up to 5/5 long ago but I don't care - I remember the frustration of being a new player all too well and I think this will help those guys out and make the game better for all. Just making my corp training easier in general I thank you.
So anyways - one good deed deserves another and thank you in turn for yours.
Cheers - happy holidays - and congrats on what looks to be the best expansion yet. Aviation Professionals for EVE (APEVE)

Hey Patri -
If I might be so bold as to try and answer your question - from my humble knowledge - I think the answer you are looking for lies in the range issue of both Ammo's.
In other words, the reason they addressed T2 projectile ammo was because they just addressed the short range kind that NO ONE used. As a minmatar ammo guy myself and speaking for many others - the T2 projectile ammo has always been broken up into TWO parts. Long range and short range. The long range had no ship drawbacks rather just launcher (gun) drawbacks...the short range had both. Consequently - NO ONE used it because it was TOO nerfed. So CCP took some of the Nerf off it to rebalance it.
In answer to your query though - if you think about it - T2 missiles have no range issues though - It is ALL long and short range. Again as a Minmatar I use missiles as well. I personally have no problem with the T2 variant ship penalties you are rallying against because it is a somewhat acceptable nerf to me. HOWEVER - that is not to say that the penalties couldn't be less. I think CCP will be watching this expansion closely and comparing missile users to projectile more to see if that very reason needs to be addressed down the road.
Side note - ROCKETS were addressed because that was a FIX that has been long needed to be addressed. It is unrelated to this T2 projectile ammo rebalance. There is a lot of history behind it if you read the forums and it stems from it being accidentally left out of a fix for missiles some time back. This new fix is just bringing it in line with the other missile weapons in regards to explosion velocity, etc etc
This is just my knowledge of the situation my friend. Take it for what it is worth.

The focus was on the tech II turret ammo which were distinctly underpowered with almost no use/usage. Missiles are different in that even with drawbacks, they are used and useful in scenarios so any attention to this area would be fine tuning over radical changes. There are very much plans to continue to push more regular frequency balance updates out so you should see more balance changes rolling out in the future.

Thank you for your response. I would like to point out that by not addressing the issue at this time you may be simply providing fuel for a future imbalance discussion.
What this means is that only T2 missiles have ship drawbacks. Put jav rockets or precision standards on a crow and you self web your self and die in a fire. Put fury rockets or standards on a crow and you self paint yourself and die in a fire. Meanwile, crusaders are zipping about the field swapping out ammo for any situation in an instant with no negative ship effects.
I look forward to seeing how this controversy will develop.

Unfortunately this is not the case. I've seen the Distortions & FoV changes with my own eyes with the SiSi client. With my 3-monitor setup, I'd have an effective resolution of 4240x1024, but the visual representation of space is heavily distorted and magnified so you see no more than you can at 1024x768 (the minimum resolution for EVE). Yes you have more real-estate to move your windows around, but Outer Space looks like a fuzzy, distorted mess. The ultimate irony is that even at that small resolution, you can still see the distortions, it's just not quite as noticeable.
While a variable FoV is traditionally done in other games to keep those with a bigger monitor from having any sort of advantage over the lowest-common denominator. However EVE has always further punished us with larger monitors with the Fisheye Distortions that I've never comprehended the existence of. With CCP advertising the ability now to have the ultra-wide resolutions, I find myself confused to say the least. Especially when I remember from one of the earlier SiSi builds from over a month ago when there was none of the "Fish Eye" distortion & magnification.
For the record, I do love the ability to resize the Window much more easily than before, and the new Fixed Window option, although I'd call it the "Borderless Window" option, as that is the term I've seen used by programs). I was just wishing that the Fisheye distortion would finally go away.

Some super pleasant surprises in these patch notes.
Special overlay icons for Deadspace/faction etc. items?
no more rubber banding when coming out of warp! (always reaaaally annoyed me, I'm nitpicky for visual hiccups, call me shallow)
Hawk made less useless?
T2 ammo made less useless?
Fighter Bomber ownage reduced somewhat for sub caps?

That's seriously awesome. I had begun to think that the current--often broken--status quo would remain in effect for the foreseeable future. There are simply too many ships and setups that need to be looked at, so it's nice to see that isn't the case. -Wrayeth n00b Extraordinaire "Look, pa! I assume you're referring to a detailed breakdown on the Ammo changes, as opposed to the generic listing in the patch notes? That's not a bad idea, but I don't have the time (nor ambition) to check that data - maybe tomorrow. For now, here's a brief summary from my earlier research today:
Ammo that had its damage increased appeared to have a 10% increase (for all damage types it does), while reduced tracking penalties took the penalty from .5x to .7x or .75x. As I said in an earlier reply to this post, the patch note for Conflagration is partly incorrect - it has a reduced tracking penalty (.5x to .7x) instead of having it eliminated entirely.
Originally by: Dorian Arconas What abought UI size for large monitors. Do some of the the changes effect this ? In other words no more tiny tiny UI for large resolutions ?
UI Elements remain unchanged in size and behavior, from my own experiences on SiSi. If there is a new option to resize portions of it, I have not seen it.

I did not mean individual UI elements but the UI as a whole. Im sure plenty of users are familiar with how small the UI gets on a large monitors native resolution . I mean every game out these days has a way to UI scale . I was seriously hoping this would be added. Can you have your ship on one monitor and your UI on a smaller one so its readable or is that option just for your inventory and chat boxes ?

Short answer:
CCP thinks that short ranged turret ammo is under used and therefore needs a boost. T2 missile ammo appears to be used at acceptable rates and therefore needs no boost. (read a few posts above to see where this summary comes from).
Now for the real reason imho:
CCP hates missiles and would like to see them used less because they add to server load. In fact they hate them so much they would like to leave in ship drawbacks that make missile ships explode at a higer rate than all other ships if they use T2 ammo.

Originally by: Callin Vandylx I too would like an explanation of why Loan Contracts are being removed. I have used these extensively in the past as part of Eve University's Mining Ship Loaner Program.
Would CCP please comment in more detail on why these are being removed, and give full details on the forthcoming January "Contracts Refactoring?" Furthermore, will a reasonable replacement for these loan contracts be provided? Callin
The reason for removing this contract type is that it was very seldom used and it was apparently a breeding ground for scamming.
We realize this is inconvenient for people that are using these contracts for legitimate means but when we compare the amount of work these contract scams add to our customer support department to the value that this contract type provides we feel that their removal is justified.
We will provide more information about the upcoming contracts changes soonish. It should be on Sisi in a couple of weeks.
Unless improved loan contracts will definitely be reintroduced in the new system that's being planned, please don't do this.
That some people have used these contracts to scam is a very weak argument for removing them entirely; there's hardly a feature in the game that hasn't been used to con someone out of money in some way at some point in time, and as you point out, loan contracts are not used much so it can't be a widespread problem.
Unlike the old freeform contracts, the terms of loan contracts are stated quite clearly, so if someone falls for a scam based on a loan contract, it'll probably be their own fault and not an inherent flaw in the system.
Although they aren't currently used much, some niche but interesting non-scam stuff is possible with the loan contract mechanism that cannot be done with Item Exchange contracts and it would be a huge shame to remove them permanently. As someone who has used these contracts how they were intended in the past, I really urge you to reconsider this. |

Even with those removed I doubt anyone would use gleam. Beams track much slower than pulses and gleam has a 25% tracking penalty and half the range of Multi and does barely more damage.
Why does beams which aren't good close up to start with have the shortest ranged crystal and with a tracking penalty for barely any more damage.

It wasn't an exploit, several people petitioned GM's to get a ruling on it, all you had to do was manually add the ID to the XML file. Although, yes, this was the reason for them adding it. Not because "it couldn't be countered" but because they realized that woops, we missed something in our menus, guess we better add it.

Skills books for ORE ships have always been sold in all schools, e.g., you will find Industrial Command Ships (Orca), Capital Industrial Ships (Rorqual), Exhumers (e.g., Hulk) and Mining Barge (e.g. Covetor) in all schools. Therefore the ORE Industrial skill will be sold everywhere.

I am truly sadden and displeased by the explanation as to why loan contracts will be removed. I personally feel that this feature should not be removed on the sole basis of the amount of petitions that are received in regard to scams that loan contracts are associated with.
The loan contract mechanic serves an important function in regards to corporation management for the minority that know how to use them. It allows a "paper trail" as to the assets and commitments a member enters into within the game. It facilitates this by allowing players a game mechanic to fulfill these commitments and allowing the contracts to automatically document these without the unnecessary overhead of administrative due diligence.
I am highly saddened that CCP felt the need to discontinue this game mechanic and urge them to find a replacement for this feature in their "refactoring" efforts.

That's useless. A salvaging ship costing more than a battlecruiser ? Yet it has less shields, armor, hull than a normal t-1 cruiser.
CCP please reduce some materials so this new "salvager ship" costs no more than 4-7 mil isk like a tier 3 cruiser. As it's basically a cruiser with salvager/tracktor beam bonus.

A lot of people currently use the salvicane as their salvaging ship of choice, which puts this in about the same price range.
I know people who have put the T3's tractor beam range bonus to use as a salvaging ship, far beyond the price range of the Noctus. Not that I find this reasonable, but a 7 mil isk dedicated salvaging ship? You're out of your mind. This ship is FAR more specialized than any T1 cruiser hull. You think it's only cruiser level though, just because of it's armor? Fine, price spec it in the specialized cruiser category, among the T2 cruisers, at around 100mil. You think it's only worth 7 mil, then don't buy one. Personally I find this a -very- reasonable price for the role it plays and the bonuses it gives.
Originally by: Zendoren I am truly sadden and displeased by the explanation as to why loan contracts will be removed. I personally feel that this feature should not be removed on the sole basis of the amount of petitions that are received in regard to scams that loan contracts are associated with.
I completely agree with Zendoren CCP. While I find no use for the loan contracts, and I would call into question anyone who says they use them legitimately (sorry Zen, this means you too ) I think it's pretty sad that CCP will remove -anything- from the game based on the number of petitions associated with it. This sets a bad standard of caving into the demand of players who create petitions not about a flaw in the game mechanics or about a way to better the game, but only due to their own ignorance or downright stupidity (I call um as I see um) when not reading the fine print or bothering to learn how a system works.
While I do feel that the contract system needs improvement, and fully support any improvements that have a basis of bettering the game, I don't feel that "too many petitions" falls under the category of fixing the broken, it falls under "caving to the masses". There is a fine line here when players start to complain about content, but I believe you crossed it when it become an issue of the "amount of work these contract scams add to our customer support department". Sucks for those getting scammed, but a mechanic should not be removed because some people lost out.
I hope whatever you are planning in it's place is above and beyond greatness, both for legitimate users, and "scammers" or you may face a backlash that will create work for your customer support department, and you wouldn't want that to happen...

the hidden release in december, is that concord is being disbanded and everywhere is nullsec :), carebears that want their system to become highsec need to donate trillions of isk to the faction for them to supply ships in that system, and the bill is 1 trillion isk a day.
however, this may not be the exact prize are all wanting to get, but it should be something epic like this :D

Anyone know if we are going to keep the bonus from the learn skills we all ready have? I have all learn skills to level V so I do not want to see all my hard work, time and ISK go to waste. Not to mention the fact that I have shaved days/weeks off my training ques by having all my lean skills maxed out. So I will not be happy if we do not get compt for this change.
FFS - How about reading the actual dev blog that explains EXACTLY what is happening...

I don't think it is too late for them to reconsider, I think a great compromise will to allow Loan Contracts ONLY for Corp and Alliance Members. That way it will be a little harder for them poor fokes to be scammed and customer support tickets will go down. Win win for everyone. -=//? Galatic Dip Ship Commander ?//=- |

(Comes to mind, very good color coding in WoW)
or maybe something like: "òDeadspace, faction, officer, and storyline items now have an overlay icon like the Tech II and III items"
I am so absolutely in love with this part of the patch. You have no idea how tired my corpmates are about hearing me rant on and on about the lack of sorting options in cans and hangars. So the extra columns are a welcome and overdue solution (sorry to say, but thanks all the same!).
The faction, DS, officer and storyline icon overlays are also GREAT!
But, the reason I quoted this particular post was because the poster was asking for just a bit more from you - and I happen to completely agree. You missed the part about TECH 1 NAMED items - and being able to distinguish between them.
I just took more than a year off of EVE and I cannot distinguish most of mods by their name (within same-type groups) and often between different mods. Having that TECH 1 NAMED ITEM overlay would let me figure it out pretty quickly. I thought his idea was good: just for the named items, using their meta level as the overlay indicator.
I USED to know almost every mod in the game by name, but not now. Now... I don't remember if it is the F84 Local Damage System or the F85 Peripheral Damage System I that I want to use... or was it the Internal Force Field Array I or the Interior Force Field Array...??? The inclusion of the NAMED META number as an overlay would solve this problem easily.
But seriously, just letting us sort by meta item will go a LONG way to helping this problem.
The only other problem I foresee is if you happen to group similar items together for logical reasons, and they happen to also use the same icon. If you look at the number of different mods that use the same icon as the Sensor Boosters and Signal Amplifiers you will know what I am talking about. I put these kinds of electronics mods together in a can for easy retrieval later. BUT... they all look the same, so simply sorting by meta will give me a hodgepodge of different mods types, all sorted by meta level.
(Before anyone offers me any opinions on my sorting methods, please ... don't. Ideally, we could look forward to having our items sorted in the same way as the market window is sorted - with the item grouping as it appears in the market window. Even better would be to have the display of items in our hangar allow us to collapse entire displays the way the market does... but... that is a hope for another awesome patch on another awesome day...)
One final wish for a bright and shiny future: MWDs finally got their own icon... ah... can we expect the same (and long overdue) love for other mods that share the same icon...? Please?
But for now. Thanks a ton! This is ABSOLUTELY a big step forward. Good job!

1) Guess when the Server will come up and how many "we found something" we will receive before the server-up
2) Does anybody believe that the new char-system or Incarna at all will ever released?

Baaically, to avoid misleading CCP SHOULD have called November's stuff exactly what it is: a patch (albeit with some appreciated changes incoming), not to call it "Incursion" cos it clearly flipping isnt!
Calling this a free expansion is balls; there's nothing new, its just a patch. Now we got to wait another 2 months for the actual new content?
Dominion = didnt deliver Tyrannis = a balls carebear expansion in a game that's really all about the PvP

According to the dev blog there will only be BPO's so everybody who only skilled in fighting will be doomed to life on the bread crumbs the prodder-guys giving to them ... so basically yes the first days or weeks only rich prodder- or research-guys can buy a Noctis

er...I have a char right now in one of the Ore systems ready to buy the bpo and undock a day or three later (depends on the level of camp going on). The corp he belongs to is 6 members. We all put up a bit of isk and I drew the straw to go fetch. Didn't need any skills other than covert ops/cloaking and knowing how to use the market.
To the poster above me as well...there will be gouging the first couple of days but by the end of the month, you'll see 'normal' pricing (like most ships, not much more over actual mineral costs, most ships are razor thin already on profit). If you have to have one that bad, you'll pay, but if you just wait a week or two, you'll get one at decent price.

The Dev Blog isn't saying anywhere about the ship itself, I mean they're talking about the skill + BPO, but no info about the ship itself how to obtain it, ok most people can think ohh only the BPO is available, so that's the only way to get it, but it would be nice that newbie that has well let's say 10m sp and less can also grab the noctis. Otherwise this is quite unfair for the majority of the players that can't pay for the game in consecutive months or even cough up the money to buy the BPO and/or get even to the 0.0 ORE Stations to get one. Soon, Deathwing the Destroyer will return to Azeroth, and his eruption from Deepholm will sunder the world, leaving a festering wound across the continents. As the Horde and Alliance race to the epicenter of the cataclysm, the kingdoms of Azeroth will witness seismic shifts in power, the kindling of a war of the elements, and the emergence of unlikely heroes who will rise up to protect their scarred and broken world from utter devastation.
When does this come out? Seems like the logical progression at this point. |

where in the hell is it written that EVE is fair? If you cant use the market or not be able to make a fortune you cant get a Noctis the first days.
I think I remember clearly one Dev writing in a Patchnote "EVE is no place with rainbows" ... this clearly also involves chars not able to make money or chars only able to shoot

Heres how it will work. First Noctis built will sell for 1 Billion, second sells for 500 million, third sells for 250 million, fourth through twentieth sell for 100 million and finally the 0.01 isking kicks in and the price crawls to 40 million over the next 2 months.

Oh, so you want to play a game where you can do absolutely everything right away? Those players who have the cash for the BPO and the ability to get to the ORE station where it is sold deserve a blueprint. If you don't have the cash or the guts, well whining certainly isn't going to get you anywhere. Really it's only a better ship but it's not the ONLY ship - you can salvage perfectly well with a destroyer or a battlecruiser...
Honestly. Be patient - fortunes will be made by the best manufacturers and blueprint researchers, and eventually the huge number of Noctis producers will send the price tumbling. This ship shouldn't cost much more than a battlecruiser, based on the minerals.

All the ships you buy are produced by other players. The Noctis is no exception. Since there is lots of competition between the producers profit margins are low and prices are reasonable. Of course, there will be some price gouging initialy, but within a week you will be able to buy them for about mineral cost +10%. If you can't afford that then play harder.

"Ships are now coming out of warp smoother, without ôrubber-bandingö."
Ah, that's gonna feel great! It's been a nice hint of when "Jump" is available in the context menu, but I guess we're better off without the rubber.

Edited by: WaliWorld on 30/11/2010 12:21:16 As I'm sure those of us who grasp basic economic concepts or even just seen a new BPO-only-seeded ship get released will understand, people who get there hands on the noctis bpo will natural want to build it. that costs ISK, so they will naturally want to sell it, and naturally they want to reach as broad a market as possible. So naturally hubs will see the first hulls, I give it 24 or less. And dont mind the trolls, their just naturally butt hurt.
Edit: What ship had astronomical initial prices? Im lost

Originally by: carebear one Hi,
so the patch tyrannis 1.3 will start in a few minutes here some points to discuss about during DT:
1) Guess when the Server will come up and how many "we found something" we will receive before the server-up
2) Does anybody believe that the new char-system or Incarna at all will ever released?
they already had some some of the features of the new character creator on singularity... altho it wasn't fully operational and/or lacked the full features that are supposed to be implemented in Incarna ... what I did see was very slick. ... so with it nearly done, I doubt that they would have spent the money going as far as they have. I understand the skepticism tho... I've been hearing about "station ambulation" like what's supposed to be in Incarna for 4 years |

I support this idea!
Otherwise CCP renders Corp Insurance useless with this change!
Private contracts for corp-insured ships should not void insurance I believe so hopefully that isn't a problem.
It isn't so much for the insurance but the audit trail! Sweet feature I never knew about until now, we got a workable solution so this change doesn't need to go out for to much longer. What steps do we need to take to have it re-enabled now that it solved the customer support problem. -=//? Galatic Dip Ship Commander ?//=- |

Cheers!
I would be happy if I could tell the difference between a Scourge Heavy Missile Blueprint Original and a Scourge Heavy Missile Blueprint Copy. When you have a thousand BPCs and one BPO, things get REALLY annoying VERY quickly.

Carebear missioning is essentially dead. Most of the value has been sucked out of it and if you use a reasonable ship to kill stuff quickly, you can expect to get suicide ganked for your modules. Eve is all about Alliance Warfare, Manufacturing, and Trading. There really is no room for anyone else, not even pirates (once all the mission carebears give up). *sigh*
If you read the release notes, you will see that they directly acknowledge this sad situation. Warfare drives the market and titans are the be-all end-all of the market.

1st I'm not whining, I'm only stating the obvious and second I'm not a noob that don't know how this game works. I am one person that dislikes PvP quite alot especially when you're quite low on SP, but this system with BPO's only being released in 0.0 Systems/Stations and the price of 390 Milion (Normal price though) Is indeed quite expensive, for people that are way over the skillrequirements to fly the ship, but can't afford it to buy one, I mean The rich will get richer, while the poor stay poor, ok there are many other ways to get your money, but that doesn't mean it's within everybody's reach :)
P.s. I would like to let people react normal towards what I type, this isn't whining, this how I look into things and if u can't respond with a normal proper way towards me, cause u think I'm whining, then please keep your fingers quiet about it, I know that there are more people that agree with me about this thought. :) My Specs |

Everyone with more than 2 braincells to rub together knows not to even attempt patching until they've finished updating TQ. You get it wrong and you might have to re-download the entire eve install!
Stop giving out links before CCP are ready, you dunce!

I think I know the feeling. As a 1-2 month old Eve player, most new content feels pretty unreachable. I guess the first thing I'll have to accept as a capsuleer, is that I'm a nobody. Great then, that they include fixes that CAN be enjoyed by younger capsuleers. Like item to hangar-dragdrop and the removal of rubberbanding when warp ends.

If you dislike pvp ...your doing it wrong. It does sound like you are whining to be honest. The ship is designed by Ore so it is seeded in an ore station. The rest of your problems are player based and this is a mmo. Sounds like you want to be in one like wow where pvp and pve are not mixed in any shape or form. Seems like you think the ship will cost a billion or something. Do some missions..buy yourself one and enjoy.

People with 390 million and a willingness to pick up the BPO will buy them. Ignoring crazy prices in the first week, they will then make and sell the ships for a small profit. This small profit compensates them for the risk of moving a BPO and the effort of research and manufacturing. You get to buy the ship for a small amount higher tha mineral cost.
What exactly should be different?

First: I look forward to getting home from work, downloading patch and enjoying Incursion.
But:
Could you please post more info during deployment? There is currently *no* information up about the upgrade. (Unless it is hidden somewhere).
A post at the start ("Incursion is now being deployed") with updates underway ("Done with pre-deployment work, deploying to TQ", "TQ updated, running tests", etc).
It is now 13:20 GMT and I have no idea if you're on schedule or not. I don't care if you're on time or not (stuff happens), but I like knowing what's going on, even if it's only "everything ok so far".

No I don't want a free noctis + bpo, what I mean is that the ships can also be in the market on a fixed price decided by CCP. and about the pvp part I never liked PvP and I never even played WoW on P2P servers due various reasons, which I won't enlighten atm, otherwise I'm getting offtopic and nobody cares anyhow :P
But still, IF the ship going for take or less 150 mil (Just a random number) Wouldn't it be a bit expensive, if u compare it towards the required skills, which u can train within ehh 2 to 3 days (More or less, dunno the exact numbers, but it's a rough guess) My character is now about 3.5 yrs old and have about 8.7 mil SP and I always said to myself, that I won't go into pvp until I'm atleast around 30-50m SP I know the mainbase is PvP in this game, but atleast people that don't want to PvP from the start and just enjoy the game are still safe to somewhat of a degree. Now I'm not saying all this cause I'm greedy, cause I'm definetly not greedy, but I said this before, this new ship and if it's with every new ship added, means that only the rich people can get it first, while the younger players (Character's Age) Are left out, cause they simply can't afford it or are strong enough to get it, cause some people are podding people to be the only ones that can get towards the bpo. I know this is the system, but wouldn't it be fair that all players can enjoy the new content, without having to wait lets say 2 to 4 months orso? My Specs |

*sigh*

I make 3 or 4 bil a week missioning ... 1.2b yesterday... so explain to me please how missioning is dead? and why do I hear from quite a few pvp'ers how little isk they make? I'm confused... so perhaps you can educate me on this.
Holy Crap! I have missioned for 16 hours a day many times in a row and never made more than 300m. Perhaps you should be educating others on how to make over a billion ISK in a single day running missions? Since Tyraanis, the yields have been even lower. Perhaps you are using 20 accounts at once?
And.... why the hell does the text entry window keep scrolling to the top type every time I type in a letter? I can not see what I type when I type it and the constant jumping is likely to cause a seizure. Using Internet Explorer 8 (64 bit) on Windows 7 64 bit.
And, as usual, the patch is late. Wheeeeeeee. :)

No I don't want a free noctis + bpo,
My character is now about 3.5 yrs old and have about 8.7 mil SP and I always said to myself, that I won't go into pvp until I'm atleast around 30-50m SP
does look like you are doing it wrong. Mine is over a year old and has 25m sp. Its like life...you get what you put into it. If after 3.5 years you have 8.7m sp.....you need to ask yourself how can I improve....and when you figure that out im sure little things like the price of a salvager wont make you lose sleep.

Yes, I would like to see something as well to destinguish originals from copies. Even if it was just a 'C' of an 'O' in the top corner, like T2 or T3 items. Right now I need to use 'show info' on each blueprint to see if it's the copy or if it's the actual original.
Apart from that, I think CCP has put in some very usefull stuff in this patch. Now just hope everything works as intended (no pun intended)

Dude, two weeks from now you will be able to buy the damn ship for 50 million basically anywhere in the galaxy. How much easier do you wanna make it?
Some people prefer to have a game that has some challenge and long term goals, and where you can't get everything during the first day of playing.

you somehow made a long post longer without adding much more to it you must be a ninja, seriously though dude, first thats your problem to deal with, either this game is worth a perry's steakhouse diner per month or it aint, second, waiting til god knows when to get into something you have no understand of, thinking sheer time will prepare you is just stupid, either try it or dont, and you know 30-50mil SP is a long time to wait before you start putting any SP into pvp skills

You do know that all the ships you buy are made by other players, don't you? They can sell them for whatever price they want. High competition generally keeps prices low. The fact that Eve's economy is player driven is one of the main selling points of Eve.
Originally by: Nayane But still, IF the ship going for take or less 150 mil (Just a random number) Wouldn't it be a bit expensive
Really? Really? You think this is a good point.

Please help me to understand your concern.

2 accounts and T3's ... 1 with a salvage sub. altho I know people who use a single tengu and do fine. I did an edit because I didn't see he was mainly comparing trading and manufacturing to a supposed total fail of lvl 4's and I the ones I usually see talking that way about lvl 4's are pvp'ers. ... certainly not everyone makes the kind of isk I do.... but it's still empire.. and it's still missioning. a place where new characters can learn the game and progress w/o being chased away by constant by constant warfare and the isk required to replace those ships. Until they move on to other things.. if they choose to do so. I enjoy null, when I have the chance to be there. I welcome the Incursion expansion that'll expand choices for game play and interaction for everyone. A very good thing.

Hello Troll. Your an idiot. Please go back to your cave.
Yes, because there is a LOGICAL method to the nomenclature used for EVERY mod in the game. /sarcasm FFS, just go away. Or at least take a break from your trolling to actually "see->read->understand" what others are saying here.
If you can demonstrate an all-inclusive nomenclature for EVERY mod in the game, please shower us with your brilliance... And don't bother using turrets or missile launchers ad your example, because I, and probably the poor sod you are trolling both have learned that particular naming convention. Now, please tell me the naming convention for Damage Controls, ECCM burst, Sensor Backup Arrays or a myriad of other mods that use confusing and non-descriptive names for different meta level items.
I DEFY you to demonstrate a comprehensive naming convention for every mod in the game.
In addition to this, Mr. Brilliant, when you display your mods as icons, the NAMES are OFTEN too long to display, so your argument is meaningless. I suppose your answer is to memorize their position in relation to other mods that have the same function, hmm? Or maybe we should be forced to display the list of our mods without icons, in list or display format? /again with the sarcasm...
I ask that you please keep the high opinions you have of your abilities to yourself, thanks. For the rest of us, including some of us who have returned to the game after a lengthy absence and have not recommitted the hundreds of mods and their crazy names to memory, please allow us an indulgence to ask CCP for a bit more of what they are already giving us in this patch... They are doing this for everything but TECH 1 named mods, all we asked for was an overlay to show the meta level for tech 1 named mods.
You don't need to reply, but I fully expect that you will.

And are you the one that decides if one is to stay or to go away? People have the right to type their opinion about something. It's no crime. Besides I'm not entirely blaming CCP, but it's what ZENO said, most new content are for the old garde that are there since the beginning then for the newbies. It's just like they say it's not only the old garde that decides if this game stays, but it's also the new players if there are any. I know for a fact, that this game got quite a steep learning curve for beginners, but thank god for the great and clear tutorial. Also what I mostly notice with every game, when someone that's a newbie and there's a new content, but only easy obtainable for advanced/older players and the newbie says something about it, that there's always someone that's of that advanced player, to nag about it only to keep the stuff for themselves :) My Specs |

If you span EVE horizontally over several screens you can move the HUD that is usually in the center of the EVE window. So you can have HUD and your ship on one screen and all the windows on another.

+1 as well. Don't want an easy game. I want a challenge; I want a game that will make my brain hurt from thinking of possibilities and not being able to try them all in time. If I wanted a 'casual' game I'd play Wow; it doesn't not require any upper brain function..
BTW: CCP: I for one like Incursion being broken into 3 parts; lets you test each piece w/o breaking the whole thing at once. Iterative release cycles saves lifes!

You have misunderstood. The Noctis will be produced by players and sold thoughout the galaxy (including hi-sec). For the first week they wil be expensive. After that cheap i.e. cost +10% or about 50m (I think.)

Seriously though, if you look at the pure n00b boosts that some MMO get (WoW*cough*) it completely ruins it for the old timers. It's the reason I quit WoW. Too much commercialism in trying to get new players up to the "top" so they can get a larger player base etc etc. Its why I came back to Eve, and also why I will be mostly likely staying in a game that seems to care more for the customer comments etc and for long term survivability than other MMOs. I would probably bet my house (not that its worth much!) on the fact that EvE will be the winner for length of time in the market than WoW. When WoW has to nerf all its content because its "too hard" (translates as "Mummy, this demon keeps whupping my arse - tell them to stop it) and the years you spend on your toon then are made useless because everyone else can catch you up in 3 months.....
Reflect back on the fact that there is never an "easy" balance to updates and changes - but so far - I believe CCP are keeping it well done, so far. This is of course a personal opinion - please take care not to flame - becuase a) I don't care and b) I won't care. Carden Syndicate Director ☻ Rock Popper Extraordinaire ☻ Industry Enthusiast

But just one thing, the Noctis and the related skill were announced for today. I just found the Ore Industrial and the ship is missing.

I've read a couple of pages I missed while doing an experiment in the lab (this one failed), and I want to say a couple words about PvP and PvE...
For me PvP is always a crime, both in games and in Real Life... So, it doesn't matter if you killed someone in real life to get his money or just blown up other player's ship for valuable cargo, modules and a line in your kill-board... Either way you are a criminal...
IF YOU DON'T KILL IN REAL WORLD, DON'T DO DO THAT IN VIRTUAL WORLDS EITHER...

W8, you're forgetting someting important right here.
A casual player will need the same time than hard core gamer to get in to 80/85, but it's all about time spent on PLAYING.
So yes, you get one hardcore player and in one week you can get up to 80/85 have the same skils but, (there's allwys some but in the butter) you don't have the tTchnique to use it. WOW is about classes working together and to play at the very top level mean hundreds/thousands of hours training, theorycrafting an most important experience.
Try to join some top level teams and you'll understand that wow is not about all those ignorants post here. Wow is wow, and Eve is EVE.
Now what can you say or do about Eve that you will never find in WOW? i'm gonna tell you:
YOU PLAY IN A SINGLE WORLD AT THE SAME TIME AND YOUR ACTIONS HAVE MEANINGS in the worlds card.
So for those idiots who talk about grinding in wow, what do you think it was like for 5months training lvl5 learnings skils? GRINDING YOU IDIOTS
What do you think that it looks like one year commitement to get those ****ing SP to do something else than run blockades? -GRINDING YOU IDIOTS
What do you think it looks like to spent hours and hours depleeting roks ? -GRINDING YOU IDIOTS
Let wow where they are and you better spent you're time doing something usefull for this game and community, take care of newbs, learn them how to play explain them the universe of your game, try to find commun interests with blockade runners (ha blockade, better like WC 4 all alone, it's very fun).
So some people can spent time whining about old times and tount people smart enough to write a few words in your language or do something more interesting of your time play/life.
The game will progress either you like it or not, and if you left wow you'll leave Eve too, it's just a matter of time has all those idiots pretending the game exists just because they play it for a few years.
CCp gave you the right to play they're game by subscribing one/few acounts, instead of whining you guys shoud be proud/happy to play in what it will be the future of MMO's, the sand box.
(go ahead tount my english pliz)

man...and from where do u think plexes come from?someone who dont want to grind lvl4's just buy 2 plexes for 36.99 USD and sell them both for almost a billion...and the one who grind just buy it for isk and dont pay the game with real money...so the moral is,if newbs, wow players and lazy guys dont pay real money for a plex, veterans couldnt plex they accounts...ccp dont loose anything with it....
