Edited by: Aleksandra Esten on 22/02/2011 19:05:59 Let me start off saying I'm a miner and I've loved HAG since it started.
After coming back from an Eve vacation and seeing HAG 4 in full swing I have to say I'm a bit concerned about the direction it's taking. It used to be more about killing the bot miners (Burninate them!) and the higher level miners in the Eve-verse and you left the newbies and barges alone. Now I see you're killing all levels of miners and even the indies and it just doesn't seem as cool anymore.
This is not a whine, it is just a question to Helicity and all the other HAG'ers:
Why have you included lower ships and newer players in your suicide targets?
And again for those that didn't read the fist sentence:
1) I LIKE Hulkageddon. 2) I think it does great things to the Eve economy by shaking up the mineral prices and industry in general. 3) I find great enjoyment in reading all the "U kiled my ship! Die in real world" posts.

One more question... on the killboards I see someone named Dark Drifter with three Iteron Mark II kills seven seconds apart total, all three Iterons flown by the same person... it looks odd, I can't see how that can happen.
OK, not phrased as a question, but it's implied...
Edit: Those are minutes, not seconds... still looks wierd.
it's not as bizarre as you think, just recently The Defenders of Pen island nuked and podded the same guy five times in something like 15 minutes, then we asked him is he had remembered to update his clone each time...
...he didn't :x

Because we're generally lazy and can't be bothered sorting out 'bad' miners from 'good' ones. The highest degree of cerebral activity involved when I pick targets is usually, "Oh look, a miner dumb enough to be out during Hulkageddon. KILL THEM".
That being said, we generally pick hulks since it's the highest ISK for sec ratio we can hit, but that's not going to stop trigger happy boredom from getting a few noobs in retrievers popped. No excuses. No regrets. |

We have always included them. it's just that for prizes it's exhumers that count etc. Since they were getting popped (along with haulers) I decided to just allow them all for the main prizes; afterall we're measuring who can wreak the most destruction here :)
(side note: retrievers can, and have been seen to, be bots as well)

Here's one:
I'm sitting in my Hulk in a belt in Tsuguwa right now with a pirate 500m off of me in a battlecruiser. He is flipping my cans. Now I have to dock instead of letting my Itty V pick up my ore. I am so sad.

We're merrily plodding along, kill rate is about on par with the previous winter hulkageddon (which is not as busy as the summer edition, when everyone is off work).
I'd like to point out there are still many achievements up for grabs! Check out the prizes page on the hulkageddon site, and you may find achievements that have not been obtained/have few kills thusfar! If you're clever you could snatch up some nice prizes by picking your targets and locations carefully!

This morning, as a watery sun rose above the grey leaden skies of eastern England and a chill wind squirreled about the shoulders of those running for their trains to the office in the city, news was breaking of disasters worldwide, not the least of which, as was revealed in a picky scabbing indictment to testosterone tumultuousness, it read ô2072 ships killed (144.24 Billion Isk)ö
The shareholders have lost control of their income generating baby, and while it farts Isks about in a wild and spasmodic manner, prizes are being laundered like nothing seen since the grey steeled submarines had claimed an early victory in the North Atlantic, or the cod farmers had brought to bear great gun ships to declare the waters around Iceland are safe for normal fisherman in the acceptance of their right to fish the dangerous stormy seas.
It amazes me how much control that you have over the game platform, the game mechanics are being stretched by your cathodic scheme to wreak havoc amongst those who choose to play a different gamestyle, yet there seems to be nothing except support from CCP for your actions.
I tip my cap to you.

Thank you for noticing, I'm just awake over here on the east coast USA...looks like something got stuck...big-red-button of punch killboard in head has been pushed and updates are occurring again.
Although I see what may be happenning...we seem to have acquired some anti-macro folks in Ingunn recently. And the initial update of their API was slowing things down. I expect the number of industrial ships killed to take a significant leap. --

Seriously - what are the freaking odds. I have a day off to "queue" on the interwebz for some sporting event tix. I get them after a couple of hours ... I settle down for some Eve and to jump into my scouting ship and join the gang as I've done a couple of times in past events (my hulk is safely docked away and I get to play sneaky git instead)... I get collared by some complete PITA from my early days who is no less irritating than he was back then. AND THEN... hamsters escape and no Eve until further notice! Mehhhhhh!
But where have all the tear-mails gone? I clicked on a link in the website and it just brought me to the C&P main thread? There must be some real gooduns by now?

Don't waste your breath. People who organize the "event" have a few billion isks to spend on candy, so they don't care much about prices going a few times higher; others may do not, but thinking about others (positively) is not a widespread custom in eve. What's worse is that most honest miners resort to bots, sooner or later. Not because it can earn a ton of isk, but just because it saves the trouble of survival during genocides. ___

Originally by: Double Dee so prepare to reap the the world wind morons!
It's "whirlwind"
Originally by: Double Dee your ship prices are going to skyrocket
At most there will be a small blip of a 5% increase, and likely caused by speculation rather than lack of minerals (check the market graphs from previous hulkageddons)
Originally by: Double Dee because of you inability to do real pvp.
If by "real pvp" you mean a giant blob of mindless drones in nullsec, then yes.
Originally by: Double Dee "oh man, why is all the ships so expensive now?" thats because you went full ****** and shot the people who mined what is needed to build them and now there is a shortage of minerals you ****ing idiots!
A very high percent (I cba to lookup the devblog on it) all minerals come from refined mission loot. On top of that, the impact on the mining yeild is going to be a small percent of that (all mining has not come to a halt). Furthermore, the cost of raw ore is only a percentage of a ships total cost.
Any dip in the production of ore will be smoothed out by speculators selling stockpiled ore (they had nearly 3 months to save it up).
Originally by: Double Dee all you are doing is hurting yourself!
In the event the price of ore does skyrocket and make mining no longer the absolute least profitable activity in eve besides ship spinning, I suspect a lot of people (including hulkageddon participants) will go out and mine (I'd do it if it payed 40m/hour like missions do) until the price of ore drops to previous levels and mining again becomes the least profitable activity in eve. - - - Dian'h Might - C&Ps resident "internet kleptomaniac" |

Wait.. I thought they gave up on pretending they were doing it to kill botters? Hell if youre still going with that line, get with the EVE24 guys, they gave a huge database of bots names and locations ------------------------------------ "You know, my foot oughta vandilize your ass" |

Hi,
my ALT was a scholar of JohnBe - some time ago, so I support : Delphina Amaranthus, Alotta Baggage, Jebediah Shaft, Caldariftw123, Peppa Hekki and her promotors, Kara Kugisa and others who think in this direction. [ although some of them are not Minmatar or Gallente :-) ]
At present I have the strict order to wait in my FENRIR and not to undock before the end of this event. So I lose at least another week.
I understand that CCP/EVE has some problems with auto-miners. I advise for the following : Do some thinking (helps anyway), some what / if :
a) only light mining equipment is allowed in HiSec, take both views: I) from the miners ship II) from the asteroid b) mining barges are restricted from HiSec c) many more ideas
I see beautiful developments in EVE like the raise of the eyebrow of this Avatar, when creating it. I want more of that and Aura's voice, of course.
Towards my fellow supporters, the following helps = AE said: "The superiorty of the stupid is overwhelming and assured for all times."
Have a nice day.
