Just find something you enjoy doing for you isk, fly with people you enjoy talking to and remember it's just a game. Sure, go cry for a second when you lose a 16b isk ship but laugh it off with corp mates and realize what you could have done differently. There's plenty of people who'll probably help you in specific professions if you wanted to learn.

Hello Mintchip,
Firstly, welcome to eve i guess. I just watched your vid and the one thing you said that stuck out to me was 'It takes forever to do anything'.
You could't be closer to the truth if you tried to be honest. I've been playing for just over 4 years now and this is still one of the main problems I have with the game. Not in terms of skills, but in terms of general gameplay. Many people who read this section of the forums are skilled pvp'ers and I think many will agree with me when I say that the 'good fights' that keep you coming back to eve are rare. I would say about 1 out of 10 from my experience, maybe even more.
This may just be specific to small gang pvp, but I don't think so. I've literally asked my friend to change my login info so that I can't log in for the next 2/3 weeks, because I know that i would just waste so much time on there instead of actually being productive.

Edit: Also I forgot to mention, If you are interested in getting into pvp/ pirating etc there used to be a 'girl only' pirate corp called Hellcats. But that was some time ago, I'm not sure if they're still around.

To new player it seems missioning is the only thing to do in EVE... but there are lots of more stuff, but you probably don't have the knowledge and ISK to do them. If you want to try out cheap PVP, faction warfare is the best way imo. You can fly with frigates, kill some.. and die a lot.

Yes they are still around and getting killed by them hurts
I didn't watch the vid because I watched it before but I think I remember whats it about...
Welcome to EVE Mintchip TBH it dosen't take that long to do anything I got my first kill one my first day and there is tones of things you can do to get yourself the ISKYs.

The women I know who have done this made some very close friends and it benefited them quite a bit to have people help out from time to time.

\o there gurl.
Firstly, I noticed WOW raiding character at the start. This might sound odd, but what u experienced there was almost no skill and no punishment for any Guilds' failiures. EvE will dry hump you when it comes to Raiding aka. Fleet OPs.
Secondly, good to see some Vidz being published. The commune needs more of it, especially adverts for fresh carebears.
Best wishes on u'r progress xD Humanity is just like a virus, except we don't evolve or mutate, we stay stupid for eternity. |

Bad troll.
"It takes forever to do anything in this game" is not a valid complaint for a girl to make. Try waiting for a girl to get ready just to pop to the shops, THAT takes forever.

Yeah, most pvpers that I know used to shake uncontrollably after their first ~50 fights. Nowadays, only the closest and the most intense fights still make me shake, but the adrenaline rush is still nothing like other games can do. ____________________________________________

Give her your wallet and tell her to go shop, then you'll see how fast a girl can move.

Most of the stuff in the clip is true. I remember my thoughts a long time ago when I started to play and they were somewhat similar. However, learning curve and the amount of stuff you can do in the game (complexity) is what attracted me to EVE. I don't like simple games and I do like to explore and learn.
Waiting for some useful skills to train is not an issue, because in every stage of the game you have multiple options of what you can do. For example, I remember trading faction specific items (datacores,...) from Gallente and Caldari to Minmatar space and vice versa. Made me a lot of ISK in the start. There's so much more stuff now that a new player can do which was not in the game a couple of years back in the past. Epic mission arcs, exploration, wormhole space...
And don't be discouraged because you can't fly a titan or any other ship in the foreseeable future, because you can always fly many other ships that are fun to play with. Capital ships and especially supercaps (supercarriers and titans) are a great responsibility. They are not fun.
At the end, your points from the video are perfectly valid for anyone, not only girls. What makes EVE hostile to girls might be the amount of trolls on the forum and macho b******* in the game (this is a PvP based game after all).

It's interesting when people just assume I play wow and only wow.
I played AC and I believe that it was brutal and had an amazing PK system. And it took a lot of skill because it didn't have the "auto target" of all today's mmos.
I've been gaming since I was 6 years old :X (And I've never stopped playing a game because it was "too hard" )
so far eve hasn't been hard to understand or navigate. I like being new to a game. Learning new things and being surprised is one of the most rewarding things about starting up :) (for me at least)

Funny because you ignorantly implied mission running is ALL THERE IS TO DO and now claim you are clueless as if that is OK. Next time maybe you should engage your brain before deciding to take a brainfart on youtube about something you have absolutely zero knowledge about. ~

I agree with you - that it can be applied to both. But my points about social interaction apply, i feel, more toward a female base. I am not sure if I elaborated, but eve can feel impersonal. And females (judge not) are more social interested in relationships and bonds. Even if it's just 1 person they play with. Not all women, of course, but enough.

Hahaha, so I have friends who have been playing eve for 10 years, and when i asked "so what should I do now?" they were like you can "run missions" And that's what I've been doing. It was in conjunction with it taking forever to do anything. I was like "I want to pvp" "well learn these skills first and get a tristan and we can go around and pvp (lol)" and i was like "well while im waiting what can I do?" "just run missions if you want - otherwise nothing i guess..."
Please. No one is attacking your game. I know I don't know much about it - but I'm trying :) and I am simply responding to what I learn from playing and from players. YOU GUYS (And girls) who message me. :S
I'm a female, coming into eve. I'm telling you why I may or may not want to play the game - right off the bat. And what I think would help keep someone like me playing - or anyone playing.

EVE is not about instant gratification. Shopping is, so is WOW, Animal Crossing and Hello Kitty Island Adventure. EVE is about Adrenaline rush you get when you know you might die in a second/pull off best fight of the week. EVE is the only game that gives me (and many maaany people) actual fight-or-flight response. I mean shivers, pupil dilation, racing heartbeat, shaking hands. Only way to understand phenomenon and true potential of EVE is to taste that feeling.
I think you seem to have miss-understood my point - Like what Don said below your post,it takes that much longer to get that rare fight where you recieve the fight or flight response. ie; the good fights.
For me the only way to get this now is by fighting outnumbered in smaller gangs using tactics over blobs, of which a lot of the time, the blob has too much ecm/numbers to do anything against. But every once in a while you get that fight which makes you keep coming back for more.

This is so true. Some good places to start are: Faction Warfare, Red Federation vs Blue Republic [constant war dec's], or get a rifter and going griefing - That way you learn about highsec pvp mechanics etc if you so choose.
Another factor is Killboard stats, research them of evekill, it's not the be all and end all but it will provide you with info about how the corp flys - ie: gang size via numbers involved, ships they fly and their kill/loss ratio + isk killed/lost. I wouldnt advise joining any of the Pet alliances and camping gates all day because you won't learn anything from it.
Get out of your comfortzone and try solo hunting for pvp. You'll learn a lot, really quickly also and become a better pilot from it.
