Edited by: Tidanis on 29/11/2010 23:44:09 Be nice if CCP gave us a snapshot of a % of players that were training learning out of the total characters training. I know I am: clarity x3 accounts. Go go go ~ 633k SP's per character! -------------------------------------------- Currently Training: Avoiding Homework, Level 4

- Everyone is doing it until 14th Dec - CCP is removing learning skills on 14th Dec
=> It has to mean that people LOVE learnings skills so much that they're training them all they can before they can't train skills that give nothing anymore

I remember when I cared enough to optimise my skill training. Or, you know, bother to set skills training.
AFAIK the gain from doing this is fairly inconsequential. -

Depending on how extreme and accurate you are at doing this, you can save a nice amount of time, added over a period of 7 years and you'll find that you can be quite far ahead of those that didn't.

I was referring to this 'train learning skills until the 14th' thing specifically. -

It's more like a relief to train charisma stuff with the bonus. Not that it will reduce training time THAT much, but it feels nice.

are their any of those weird competency achievements related to learning only?
I suppose I could see the sentimental types trying to cram for any of those considering that's the kind of thing CCP might leave laying around thus making it unique and never to be had again kind of things.
Yea, I'm stretching it...

I one of the people doing it with a 2 week old character with the cerebral accelerator. Will be at 2.5 mil or so by the 14th. Going 5000+ sp/hr with +4's+3 yntil 1.6mil then I'll have max memory (34) intel (26) used the free remap. So I'll still be going fast after I hit that mark.

if you were ever planning on training a second or third character on an account that hadn't used up its 1.6 million at bonus speed, the next two weeks would be the time to train learning skills at the bonus rate .... you'd get a free 600k or so sp (not double because you'd be training a bit slow until you got the memory up.)

Nope, many others crippled by OCD have also trained this completely worthless skill. But now, the joke's on those who used common sense and analysis to avoid Presence 5 and the other L5 advanced learnings. In Eve, poor decisions = delayed genius!

When I first started I was told that it would take about 3 years for the time invested in getting all learnings to L5 to pay off. Well 6 years later I guess I've had my moneys worth, lol! And I'm getting 5m+ skill points to reallocate to boot! Yay!

Have someone made any calculations on what the gains would be to train say 500k sp on carrier V, and then dump another 1mil sp on it on the 14th. Compared to training 500k sp in learning skills and then dump the 1.5mil sp on carrier V? I don't see any sp boost worth to bother about tbh

I mean, seriously, you're sitting there, with all basics to L5 and all advanceds to L4, but as long as there's useful skills to train you can resist. hen, you kind of run out of skills you really want any time soon, so you start by doing advanced per to 5, maybe advanced in to 5... after a while you also do mem... and eventually wil. In the end, you're staring at a nearly fully trained tree except that one skills you KNOW won't pay off, but it's not like you really have much better skills to spend time on, and you say "screw it" and add it to the queue anyway.

call me stupid but I don't see how training leatrning skills and dumping into other skills rather than just training other skills will make a difference, unless you have almost no learnings at all already and you complete several levels increasing your training speed over 2 weeks. Will it really make a difference worth noticing ?

Well if you train a learning skill at 2,600 SP/hr and some charisma skill at 1,650 sp/hr, why not train the learning skill and put those SP in the charisma skill after 15-dec, it saves you a few days of skilltraining.
