I thought you'd know me better than that.
This being annouced now was a reaction to the announcement of oxygen being found on Rhea, as a means to put the possibility of alien life back into the realm of fantasy after that made it seem much more close to home. The truth is, alien life exists, and on a much larger scale than anyone is prepared for. Many people within NASA are well aware of it. Some want you to know, and think you can handle it, and others want to keep you in the dark, either because they think you can't handle it, or for their own benefit. This coming on the heels of the other news is an example of those two groups vying for control of what you think.

It's exactly that kind of dark ages mentality which some use to justify keeping it secret. People probably thought it was ridiculous life existed on other Islands at one time, also.

I find it odd that you continue to beleive the US government is witholding info about alien contact on it's own.
If the government were indeed contacted by aliens, this would mean the aliens themselves would not want to be revealed. Otherwise they would have gone to the Russian, the Chinese, the Indians, the Japanese, the Iranians or even the North Koreans. That or they are phenomenally stupid and only talking to one group.
All of the countries mentioned probably wouldn't agree on what color the sky is, yet they have some how all decided to conspire. This would infact be rather inspirational, All the nations of the world working together in harmony to protect the secret of our alien benefactors. It just runs counter to everything about human nature I know and almost zen like level of cooperation.
Also you would think wiki-leaks would have caught wind of the conspiracy, rather then leaking stuff about some random brushfire war
Finally, you would think there might be more then one alien species out there, they might not be in agreement about what to do with earth.
So to recap, if such a conspiracy exists one or more of the following situations exist. 1) the US government is faaaaar more competent then we think. 2) The world is more peaceful and harmonious then we think. 3) The aliens are ****ing ******ed and talking only to *******s. 4) All of the aliens don't want to be found.
Even if this was true.. so what? The Government lies? That's what they do, its their job.
No real point to knowing about the whole conspiracy.
Now I believe that there's life out there. And perhaps the surest sign that it's intelligent is that it hasn't tried talking with us yet. All these conspiracy theories are just religion for atheists. and further more why do i even need a sig? |

Remember that SG-1 episode where they made the TV show about the Stargate Project in order to provide plausible deniability?
Anyway, many other governments are aware, and they've been releasing mountains of UFO information, hoping to better acclimate people to the idea. No government wants to be the one to come out and say it, because there's a great deal of fear that simple minded people will go completely ****ing insane, and none want to be responsible for that.

Yeah, why don't they just tell everyone because it's the right thing to do? In the eyes of government telling everyone would help them in no way, and only risk trouble. Upholding the status quo is always the safest route.

So North Korea and Iran want to maintain the status quo? Shelling South Korea is so totally maintaining the status quo. So is starting to enrich Uranium, destabilizing the balance of power in the region is completely maintaining the status quo.
Neither country is invested in maintaining the status quo. They could kill America's credibility even deader then it actually is by going public. Why not release the info and do irreparable damage? Releasing a taped conversation with the Planetmind from Alpha Centuari is definitely cheaper and more productive then starting a military incident or starting a nuclear program.

How so? "Kim Jong-Il Maker of Peace With The Aliens" has a nice ring to it.
How would Mahmoud Ahmadinejad rule be threatened by saying "The Great Satan America has withheld information about Aliens, here's proof!"
These statement don't undermine either of their rules, they infact strength their internal status quos, that the rest of the world is populated by lie bastards and only the internal government is telling the truth.

There is no reason. What you think would be when the US president could say 'we have contact' to the press. Next would be 'we are the world leading country to do it'. A real contact with an exoterrestial race would bring the world in 24 hours on decfon 4 (All nulcar weapon are ready to fire) because do you think China or Russia would aloud to get alien technology to the US only ? I guess not.
Basiclly people that think we had visitors on earth in the passed have no clue about human, biology and microorganisms. You as a human live in symbosy with mites, bacterias and other microorganiscs. If an alien would open his suit or would bring someone in his ship he would be contaminated by alien dns and microorganisms. 100% safe contact is not possible. and even when the athmosphere would kill all microorganism you would find DNS material. Never heard something like that from the 'UFO conspiricy' fraction.
TL;DR I doesnt see a confrontation of the nuclear nation in the last 30 years in anyway, not i see some news about possible alien dns somewhere.
This says to me . No alien on earth atm.
BUT I believe there are more then 100 Billions planets and moons with some kind of life alone in out Milkyway. Maybe one or two planets / Moons in our Solarsystem have life like bacterias and microorganism. My highest Candidate for this is venus for many reasons and not Mars.

Maybe 10-15 years ago i would want to get into an impassioned debate with someone who is clearly never going to change their mind. I've said all i want to. Rational and neutral people can decide for themselves with everything i've said here, and everything which exists on the subject. If they don't mind digging through the BS.

Well the whole argument for debates is not to sway the opinion of the person you're debating with, but the people on the sidelines who are reading it. :)

People shouldn't just take my word for things. They have the single best source of information at their fingertips in the history of mankind, and they should use it. Also, apply some critical thinking along the way. If someone says a UFO sighting was Venus, ask yourself how a military veteran or 5 star general confused Venus for a large metallic craft darting around in the sky. There's literally so much evidence now it's impossible to deny. The only thing keeping people from accepting it, is their refusal to.

Why do you care so much about Alien life not being real? Why is it so important to you it isn't? I'm not getting all excited like you are.
I just don't care to deal with this crap, and put it on every person to use their own reason and critical thinking to decide for themselves. There's a lot of crap out there, but also a lot of stuff that's impossible to explain away, even though some try.

I hope this was not for me. Are you really think we are ignorant fools ?
I saw my self an 'UFO' like 25 years ago sitting in an open air cinema in Spain. We had massive light flying over this and a sound like a projectile. My speculation was a small astroid.
My reason come not from somewehre else. I work on a book where aliens discover earth for a very funny reason. On this work for the book i did some scenarios what would be the problems. communitation ? no not really. Goverment? yes - really big power game between the blocks. Biological contamination - yes, could kill humankin in days.
So bring something, that is not from someone that wanna make money with an book and starts a PR show.

You're the only one talking about emotion. Projection is a nice thing ain't it?
Really, I'm fine with Alien life. It's defective thinking and illogical conclusions that I have a problem with.
All that said, I don't like how you basically just surrendered your point by not pursuing it. You claim to like critical thinking, but cow in the face of it when it doesn't agree with your veiws.
