Besides lining up more skills and waiting, it seems the only options when coming onto eve is to either go mining, or grind some generic pve for isk. Unfortunatly im not into pvp, but i will be soon so theres something to do, because what is there to do once i have the ships i need and dont need anymore isk. pvp seems to be it. In my opinion there should be a reason to actually play the game besides just teh lulz. because at this point, the only thing left to do is to wait several months for skills to finish.

Confirming that eve is a game with prepackaged goals.

Implying you're not a Troll.
Implying you do not have imagination.
Implying you should go back to WoW.
Implying you have no one to play with.
Implying you have not joined a corp.
Implying you cannot socialize.
I'm implying this is not the game for you.
-------------------------
Real answer, join a mining/shipbuilding/research and development corp, make friends and get into the culture. Without a corp with other people you will hate it. unless you're Chribba.

Sounds like you want someone to hold your hand and point you at your next objective. WoW is releasing an expansion this month.
Seriously, if you can't find something to do in Eve... your playing it with the wrong frame of mind.

i dont recall ever getting an answer, only people that are angry that im questioning the game. I wont be quitting eve, but everything is just a grind. Theres 3 main parts, mining, pve, pvp. for 2 of those its just turn on modules and wait for isk to flow into your pocket. i havnt dabbled in pvp yet though, as said before, ill be starting soon though. No need to flame here, its a legitimate question that deserves an answer, not people trolling eve forums looking to flame someone that thinks differently.

i understand theres trading, market play, transport, blah blah blah. all of which just give you a bit more isk, and ive done them all. its not unusual for someone to want variety.

They're "angry" b/c you have a very limited view of what the game is. You've self-limited yourself - you don't actually need to train skills for months to pvp effectively.
As well, saying the game is only three things ignores the depth that each of those three things contain (actually there's only 2 things: PvE (includes mining) and PvP).
There's about a dozen different PvE things you can do that are very distinct from one another. There's even more PvP things you can do that are quite different from each other as well.
Thinking differently is fine, but when you're thinking is directly causing the problem that you're complaining about, then be prepared to be flamed about it.
Edit: Oh dear, I can't believe that you're complaining about lack of variety in Eve, the game that basically invented and dominates the gaming world in that particular category ---------------------------------------------- I don't have an alt, but there's a main that would be upset if he heard me say that... |

SRSPOAST: turning on modules, mining and even market sniping are the tools to accomplish something; whether it's the satisfaction of having outplayed an opponent, fighting for your characters ideals or to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women it's a goal you make for yourself. What's the point of playing D&D or some other RPG? There's no end game. Fighting is just rolling some dice. You can't even play solo!

any way you spin it, all pve is the same, turn on modules, wait, repeat. im aware of what there is to do in eve, and the variety. I know theres more than 3 things to do, but most of it is more or less sit and wait.

Assuming your not a troll:
Exploration - Especially Null and Low sec exploration is exciting. Wormhole Exploration Play Market Scam People Join a mercenary corp Become a spy Faction Warfare Pirate Industry JOIN A CORP JOIN A CORP JOIN A CORP
Seriously - Just join a decent corp. You can have PVP Arena tournaments against each other, go clear out out complexes and Explore together, go live in a wormhole, go roaming looking for trouble and just generally banter, joke and have fun.

You should take up something exciting that isnt direct pvp. Like market trading or production
Or something really profitable and watching CAOD for the hotspots and transporting war supplies there to make billions.
If you think pve is boring, try acting like a smuggler and making money off the people trying to kill you on your trade routes.
Its a very satisfying feeling

EVE is PvP.
Everything else is to support it.
If you are just bearing and looking at your shiney ship, you are wasting your life.

just saying this over and over doesn't actually make it right. You say you "get" EvE but it really seems like you don't. This isn't a themepark where you're guided from quest to quest, this is a sandbox where you are given the tools to make your own game. If you are playing this game for the mechanics (and feel you are sitting and waiting), as others have said, you ARE doing it wrong.
You just are. .

Im aware pvp is the main reason to play eve, i just didnt have the funds to do any pvp or the sp to do it effectivly, i never once said 'i just realized pvp is the reason to play' never said that. The question was in the title, not what should i do now. So please, keep the lock on your troll cage nice and secure.

I log in to provide lols to my fellow man. When I was 12 I murdered a 10 year old with a log on a boy scout retreat because I didn't like him. They thought he got lost. Been making up for it ever since by acting like a confused noob. Just tonight I was autopiloting in to all the majot trade hubs and along the way I found reasons to engage the denziens of eve in conversation only to call them a newbie and bitterly insult them at the end to the lol of everyone around

Just something that struck me right now.
Do you feel rewarded by PVE?
I know I get all my money from it but it still feels hollow, like wasting time. I am not so much after money but that is usually the end result. Doesn't matter if it is exploration, missions or WH. I want more than just money but everything seems to be built around just that.
I want to find new things but theres always a big hurdle. Like a couple days back I did some sansha 5/10, got to last room, couldn't break tank on last mob with 2 drakes (both fit for exploration in dangerous space so sacrificed hislots). Felt like a waste. What my option would have been is a battleship or two to break the tank but getting those 5 jumps into lowsec? Fat chance. 15 jumps to buy em, fit em...takes hours...then at a whim I can loose both + what they cost so probably 300 mil. Risk vs reward not sufficient.

If you need other people to give you reasons to play a game - any game - then you should reconsider why you are playing that game. Maybe it's time to move on?

And this is the root of your problem: forget about the ISK and just go do what you really want to do. If "make ISK" is what you really want to do, then you should find the process of getting that ISK more fun. You don't, so you most likely don't. For everything else, the amount of ISK needed is actually fairly small ù just set realistic goals and limits for yourself. Just realise that you will never "win" EVE, and the losses will stop hurting and you can find lulz aplenty.
Quote: there should be a reason to actually play the game besides just teh lulz.
No, there really shouldn't. "The lulz" is all games ever need as a reason ù that's why they are games. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |
