BBC weed out the corruption.. FIFA *should* be thanking them for it; explaining how they're grateful to have a fair system, how they want their system to be fair for all... but no. We get voted out in the first round; despite having one of THE best leagues in the world right in this country; which means our football infrastructure has been tried and tested.
Putin himself BLAMED the BBC for making that Panorama program.. as if to say "hold on.. you're exposing the Corrupt.. thats a bad thing!" idiot.
and who gets the 2022 WC? Qatar... WHO THE HELL ARE THEY? Have they ever even qualified for a World Cup? I've never even heard of a SINGLE football team from Qatar and apparently they have better infrastructure than USA to hold the world Cup?
Just another reason to add on the pile of "Why Fifa is crap, why Sepp blatter (sp?) shouldn't be in charge."
How Hypocritical does this need to be? Russia Corruption Russia Admits Corruption of Police
Never, ever, be able to take any Fifa "vote" as fair ever again. I could understand if England was a close second, but it was voted out in the first round.. despite our presentation has being described as one of the best and the others as having problems.
grrr... lol

I'm English and I'm glad we didn't get it, we're already paying for an Olympics most people didn't want anyway that is going to run over budget, the World Cup would've been the same, and I can't believe anyone is surprised Russia got the vote. The sooner FIFA get rid of Blatter the better I remember back in 1998 when Lennart Johansson was up against him for the presidency and was easily the best man for the job, Blatter managed to get more votes, since then his presidency has been a joke he's like FIFA's version of Silvio Berlusconi.
Oh and a corrupt c**t.

The difference I see between the Olympics and the World Cup - 100s of thousands of people go to football games every weekend... (hell there were 80 odd thousand of us just for the Play Off final between Blackpool and Cardiff last season). You don't see that sorts of crowds to regular "athletics" in England.

Don't be daft, as Panorama showed, it's the top executives that are corrupt, of course they're not going to be thankful. Originally by: baltec1 ú50 on the BBC getting blaimed for this.

I think there is probably a trend to give the world cup to less traditional countries.
England may be technically a good bid, but it is not an exciting new destination for football. Korea, Japan and the USA have all hosted the world cup before, and relatively recently, but Qatar is exotic and represents a new market into which football can expand
Since South Africa hosted a successful world cup, despite doubts before the tournament, it probably gave confidence to FIFA to put faith into countries who may find the hosting more challenging
Germany hosted a successful, but less than enthralling world cup, so another sanitised western European world cup probably had less excitement factor
