The description says:
Caldari Cruiser Skill Bonus: 15% bonus to ECM Target Jammer strength per level 10% bonus to ECM Target Jammer optimal range and falloff per level.
What are the 'ECM Target Jammers' they are talking about? Are they the modules listed in the Market as ECM - Ion Field Projector, etc.?

Edited by: Alara IonStorm on 03/12/2010 20:10:05 Yes they are. How ECM works is every thip has Sensor Strength. Lets take the small gang standard the Hurricane. It has a base Sensor Strength of 16 and because it is Minmater it uses LADAR Sensors.
Now a Tech 2 LADAR Jammer has a Jam Strength of 3.6 base. With max skill into Jammers on a Blackbird it becomes about 7.8, so an average skill pilot gets about 6ish.
The module itself is a chance based system, say you have a LADAR Jammer that has 6 Jam Strength, there is a 6 out of 16 chance the Hurricane will loose it's ability to lock targets.
You can also use Multi's that have shoter range and weaker strengh then racial specific jamers but effect all targets equally. Even Racial Jammers have a small chance of Jamming another type of Sensor. You can use Signal Amplifyers and ECM Rigs to increase your Jam Chance.
Here is a common fit.

Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive 5x ECM Jammers
2x Medium Particle Dispersion Augmentor I
It requires max Engineering Skills to Fit and uses every ounce of grid. You can loose a Rig if you want more Buffer from 2 Trimark Armor Pumps.
This is another common fit.
[Blackbird, Jam Range Tank] 2x Signal Distortion Amplifier II
Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive 5x Racial Jammers
3x Heavy Missile Launcher II
2x Medium Particle Dispersion Augmentor I
this set up relies on Range and Jam Strength instead of tank and can still deal DPS. I would not recomend it in Lo Sec with gate guns around.
Now that I look at this ship I want one now 
Time to train up ECM!

This is my BB setup for faction scaled down to T1. EFT said only 10.5 mil for price seems a little low but this setup is still pretty cheap, should definitely come in under 20mil.
9.4 ECM strength with all skills at 5. You should still easily be able to hold down 2 or 3 ships with mediocre skills.
I never use a AF or MWD on any of my EWAR ships. Range is your friend here, you can lock at 140k and the ECM mods will pass that. Youre never gonna beat the frigs for speed anyway.
No kind of offense either. You dont wanna fight anyway cuz youre gonna die in a gun/missile fight.

I put a MWD on to out run Battlecruisers and the missiles are just added because of extra grid. With the range it is just extra dmg, it's not for combat more if they happen to be in range. I just wouldn't feel comfortable with out the Micro then again I just decided to train it.
Do you have any hints on what 5 racial Jammers to bring on Null Sec Roams?

all i gotta do is fly 10k so i make it to 150 and i can warp back but any good FC knows to give good ECM peoples some space cuz they know what to do. Or if we have enough ECM ships ill FC the ecm peeps and totally wreck.

If your in a large fleet most likely BC isnt gonna stray off that far to get you and if he does he'll be popped way before he gets to you. Or atleast webbed and stuff by the intys.
Missiles wont hit farther than 70k probably and like i said before youre not gonna win in a fight. Your best bet is to warp out and warp back to another spot 130k on the opposite side of the gate. Which is another thing make sure you do your homework and mark a few spots around the gate.
Getting away from people is easy. Especially if its only one guy. Jam the tish outta him and warp away.
Theres only 4 racials and if you still want to keep the MWD or AB do one of each. It all depends on what you know your gonna face. If your not sure be prepared for anything. But as you play more youll see that most people fly amarr or min for pvp.
