2 of my combat characters are close to flying carriers. I plan on using 1 for 0.0 alliance pvp help.
What is the basics I should have. Obviously everyone wants all skills to L5, but whats the minimum.
From what I know, having navigation skills(Jump drive) to L4 is needed so all the caps can jump the same distances.
I expect to train nav skills and fighters to 4.
Is there anything else needed, or is that more or less enough to get by?

cap remote reps/energy trans/shield trans to lvl 4, but it can depend on how your alliance use carriers.
Jumpdrive operation 5 Jumpdrive calibration 4 Jumpfuel conservation 4 Fighters 4 Carrier 4
Sort drone skills while at it, drone navigation, durability, sentry drone interfacing, rep drones

This is good. Jumpdrive calibration is the one that governs how far you can jump, so if you don't have it, you may get left behind by your fleet somewhere. I also recommend that you have at least one type of remote repair module, whether it be armor, shield, or energy transfer. Without that, you're only useful for DPS, and might be better off simply flying a battleship.
Then again, I just remember that 90% of your usefulness to your alliance is going to be as a courier for fitted ships. So don't sweat it.
Logistics is also nice, but it's less often used, so you can safely put it off.
Pro tip: Train for an armor-repairing carrier like the Archon. If you train for a shield-repairing carrier, you're going to be asked to repair a lot of POS shields.

kk.
This should be enough to get me started. My pvp main has BS 5 for Caldari and Gallente and close to Minmatar BS 5.

This I think if your taking your carrier into a PVP situation. I would say train for Khors minimum first then your Cap Remote Repping and Cap Energy Transfer-if they are both at LVL4 on an Archon thats a mighty thing.
07 Gavin seen you in space you know what your doing!
