Edited by: Infinity Ziona on 05/12/2010 07:30:55 I got a whole bunch of skills that I trained at one stage for no apparent reason. Maybe I was on drugs. Like amarr battleship... I don't think I have ever flown an amarrian ship before.
Anyway they're freaking everywhere. Mining skills, refining skills.
I'd like to get rid of them since they clutter up my skill tree and I simply don't use them. I really couldn't give a stuff about losing skillpoints in something I don't use, its just artificially inflating my skillpoint total.
So I would like the option to delete these skills, with the usual illegal skill thing if I try to delete a pre-requsite to something else.

I know how you feel and I know they clutter your EVE board or are a pet peave but...
This could leed to players making the mistake of deleting a useless skill like Minmatar Tech II Autocannons and cruiser skills because they are angry that they are useless. Then CCP changes TE's and releases the Vegabond. I don't think that is the greatest idea because people will end up hurting there selves and when they find a use for it.
Save people from there selves and sit on those skill, you don't have use for them right now and maybe never will. But I don't think that is the right solution.

Wouldn't it make more sense if you could just hide those skills - Make a new tab for them, called "Hidden Skills", where you can stuff all the crap you don't really want in.

Silly people make me laugh, but at least I don't laugh at people with a mental handicap. That's waaaay too low for me.

Isn't that a bit too much sense for tidiness? I will just close the skill trees that I don't train in the near future. Is it necessary to browse through your skills that often? The little gain in convenience compared to the massive implications of deleting potentially very skillpoint-rich skills taking months to learn is a reason for not offering that option I guess.

FWIW, there is one objective reason to remove unused skills: to lower the price of your medical clones.

I don't think so, I like a nice tidy skill tree. I'd like to specialize in certain ships which I have found enjoyable and get rid of the things I don't find enjoyable.
I haven't mined in 5 years. Never flown an Amarrian ship. Don't do refining. I have jump drive and some other cap skills trained to level 5 but I have no intentions of ever using a jump drives or capitals on Infinity (until CCP makes them usable in high sec which will never happen).
Since I have other characters that can do all these things, but trained much more specifically for those purposes I don't want them on my main character. Shes a high sec war deccer and doesn't do anything else.
As for maybe wanting them back one day, if you delete them then thats just bad luck. When you delete a module you don't go petitioning or whining about it. Its your action, so take responsibility for it.
As for cheaper clones, they're so cheap already its a moot point. The costs scale with SP so anyone who's not ebayed, should be able to afford them without even noticing the cost anyway. Sig ---

my opinion, keep them around. just close the tabs full of things you don't use.
