We now have jump capable ships that are not banned from high-sec.
Jump freighters and black ops.
Why can we not have a special form of cyno only these can jump to that allows them to jump to high sec?

Because you don't need a special cyno that allows them to jump to highsec. They're perfectly capable of using jump gates to get to Highsec. --Vel

While true they also have a perfectly capable jump drive being limited by a stupid no cyno rule. Sig ---

No. Absolutely not. Jump freighters are already overpowered. I hot-dropped mine onto a carrier the other day, cause I'm sick of it being so safe (actually he was camping my preferred cyno station...), and it was in warp before the carrier pilot stopped soiling his pants.
If you want a freighter that can jump from high-sec to high-sec, buy a normal one and use the autopilot. Saves on jump fuel, too.

That perfectly good jump drive works just fine. Be happy you only have to pass the gate camps in one direction. Sheesh. --Vel

What specifically is your objection to being able to cyno into high sec? Will it create an anomaly and crash the universe? Sig ---

The restriction of highsec capable vehicles to low sec only jumps is not only frivelous, it is also counterintuitive.
I recently shattered the dreams of someone in the sebiestor tribe channel, he did not realise you could not jump them to low sec. It says this nowhere on the ship, that information is not easily accessible.
Had we not randomly stumbled upon the topic, he might have spent a lot of money on plexes, bought a JF, only to discover he had wasted his money.
If you believe that jump freighters are overpowered, and that allowing them to jump to highsec would damage the economy, then perhaps we should discuss adjusting JF fuel costs and jump ranges, rather then perpetuating an absurdity?

No thanks, it will make the EVE universe even smaller than it already is. Travel times within empire is pretty much the only thing that keeps the fealing of largeness alive. And, as a further negativ point, it would make things for traders even easier. ------------------------------------------------------- Sig was removed due to derogatory comments towards a group of people. -Karl Chroimcer

Simple reason why it's a bad idea.
This idea would more or less give jump traders absolute invulnerability - They can cyno into a safe spot in an isolated low-sec system, or a series of them, then jump back into high-sec, taking the fastest possible route with absolutely no chance of interruption, dodging everything from wartargets to gatecamps to suicide ganks. This is equally true of NPC 0.0, as well as any non-cynojammed system. You can't even suicide them on the undocks, since they're gone to their first jump before you can lock them. A ship that is completely immune to attack unless the pilot makes a massive mistake goes against what EVE is. Deal with it.

If jumping in series is a problem, perhaps we also need to look at other options. Upping the capacitor cost, for example, or introducing a warm-up time for non-combat jumpdrives.
Also there is a session timer after you undock any ship before you can jump. You should be able to target a JF in that time. If you cannot, I'm afraid there is no help for you.

The session change timer is 30 seconds. When you undock from a station you are temporarily invulnerable (unless you activate modules or change direction) for... 30 seconds. That means that you can jump the instant the invulnerability timer wears off, giving the other guy no time to lock you at all.
You also forgot about insta-undock bookmarks, which work on the exact same principle.
Translation, it's still a problem, you just don't know enough about the mechanics to realize it. And I'm the one ranting incoherently...

You do play on TQ right? Crashing the universe is a distinct possibility.
That aside, it's not necessary. The LOLRP reason is that the Empires put cyno jammers in place to prevent them from being fired to keep capsuleer piloted capital ships out of their core systems.
And while you spend a good deal of your time whinging on about carebears in the other thread with Alara (re Stealth Bombers) you seem to be backing the carebear move here and allowing jump freighters to essentially be an IWin button to instant hauling in high sec space.
I'm starting to think you just back the unpopular position on purpose so you can troll folks. --Vel

It's not really the ships which are banned from high-sec, it's the cynos.
There are proposals floating around in F&I and Assembly Hall (somewhere) regarding allowing covert cynos in highsec.

We have always had jump capable ships allowed in high security space. Cynosural fields and CSAA are the only things that are banned in high sec in relation to capital class vessels. Just see Chribba with his veldnaught and random other players with high sec dreads/carriers.
And i don't see how it makes that much of a difference to jump in to a low sec and warp right onto a lowsec gate, as opposed to jumping straight into high sec so your cost for this friend of yours and his decision being based on such a minor thing is ridiculous to use as an anecdote for your proposal.
