For the real men (and the smattering of women) who want old school Eve. No warp to 0, learning skills back,no plex,no capital ships, original character creation with real racial differences etc. $16 a month. (the one dollar extra is for the one gm who would be in charge of this server.) What say you? What say you?

You probably need to up the price by a factor of 10 or so to either pay for the lawyers when CCP comes to shut you down, or to pay for the duplicate hardware CCP needs to buyà ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

I say it sounds like nostalgia. _____ When going to a party with wine, women, and song. Always ascertain the vintage of the first two.

I'd play on a hardcore server. Even if there were just 1000 people online, still be worth it

Imagine it. A hardcore pvp server where pretty much every single player knows better and won't fall for the normal tricks that get you fights. Plus in reality there will be a group of 10 or so that end up banding together and pwning everyone else so those dreams of hardcore pwnage for the other players will just turn into getting pwnd.
Back to square one.

I've been playing computer games for a while. I started on muds and two of those were the best games I've ever wasted way too much time on. Eve came very close to one of them which was also open pvp. Eve had the visuals which made up for the relative lack of game content which the mud had more of. PvP even in the best muds was still a tough balance and numbers and level difference always played a part. But I think where Eve took a wrong turn (because lets face it gamewise Eve was a better pvp game in 2005 when I began) was not taking a lesson from the better pvp muds. By carebearing the game down to draw player numbers rather than putting emphasis on racial clashes (limited inter-racial pvp, home system advantage etc.)We have the ruleset we have now and a very different game. So I guess I have to agree with this fellow: Quote: Imagine it. A hardcore pvp server where pretty much every single player knows better and won't fall for the normal tricks that get you fights. Still I would give a classic server a go.

tbh I don't think eve is much less hardcore than it was at release. Most of the new systems (wormholes, T3, invention) are all pretty complex.
I do feel things are easier to accomplish due to the large player base, but that's not necessarily because of "carebear" changes to the game over the years.
The only change I'd make would be to take away insurance, increase game world size, and make more strategic resources to fight over. Ships feel too cheap these days and 0.0 combat seems kind of pointless.

Admit it, you just want all the officer spawns for yourself.

Good point. Btw invention, marketplace etc. were/are Eve PvE and they all support PvP. That whole concept was freaking ingenious imo. I mean the way Eve does it. One thing about PvP is that can come quite close to simply playing a FPS. Without real character development (which includes potential damage to that character) PvP in a mmorpg can be pretty much the same thing as playing a FPS. This lack of development is the sort of change I was referring to.
