Just so you know atm on sisi Echelon requires Amarr Frig II, which people should have anyway since the other races suck

CCP, you know what would be a REAL gift for everyone and that would be 100 times more useful? A redesigned Dominix, Tempest, Moa,... the old cyno effect or engine trails. There is sooo much people are wishing every week and you just ignore them/us all. Instead you design a new ship that we will never see anywhere than in our hangars :(.

Edited by: Captain Megadeath on 09/12/2010 18:33:20 As someone said, indeed the Zephyr MKII
Ingame, the Zephyr was used by shady elements to map out and study the wormholes as the unsuspecting capsuleers flew said hacked ships in WH space. Sansha start to use info to "make" their own wormholes to snatch peeps.
One of the events showed that one of Concord officers was on the take, on sanshas payroll as it were, and spreading false info, was caught and dismissed. Now we get a free Concord ship that will help defeat the Sansha horde...... Yeah right
Just ignore those Sansha implants there
/RP off.
This is just an ingame storyline object that will rust in my hanger beside my zephyr. Nothing more.

The good news is that it can fit 2 EANMs, 3 hardeners, 2 1600mm RT plates, a large rep, 4 hacking modules and a 10mn mwd... oh and has a 600m3 drome bay with 125 bandwidth.

I'm hoping a real ship eventually uses this ship model, as I quite like the model. (hated apoth and zephyr models).
So, this 'gift' is really only worthwhile as a harbinger of things to come.
As a frigate with one module slot that cannot be rebuilt if lost, it's completely useless and relegated to hanger adornment.

its a cool ship and will be fun to spin around. But when are we going to get a useful holiday ship say like the TORNADO battleship.
Honestly if you could mount a probe launcher on it, some guns and fit a small tank it would be useful. Till then i still have my exploration t3.

I understand what they're doing and even appreciate the sentiment, but whyyyy? They keep introducing special holiday ships that they know people will only ever keep as trophies, why not make them useful trophies at the same time?

what the hell is this, as many have already said this is going to be another complete waste, why not make a ship that we can actually use in game other than it sitting in station never being used??

E.g., some uber shuttle that is immune to all forms of e-warfare. People would actually use it and, eventually, lose it. Also, it would allow for epic whinings on the forum.

"However, the true beauty of the Echelon is in the adaptive synchronization of capsuleers and Sansha codebreaking components, creating a system predicted to give capsuleers an edge over even the strongest of the Nation's encryption locks."
I am going to laugh when people find out they need this ship and/or the module to unlock items in Incursions and they trashed it because it was useless cause it wasn't a PvP item.
People need to wake up and realize CCP isn't going to hand out a T4 ship that is the end all of PvP to everyone in game. Now they might hand out another ship/tool that allows you the potential of getting something really nice if you are willing to go after it.
This might be the most useful item CCP has ever given out for X-mas.
Give the man a cigar ....
Until you stop and think that every other frigate in the game can do exactly the same job, can fit multiple codebreakers, a propulsion mod AND a tank. Unless they are Caladari frigs, in which case lolcaldari :3
Unless, the odds are better at codebreaking for specific sansha incursion sites, like the description of the ship clearly states it,at least compared to currently available modules....Shocking i know...

I wonder if this this will be ignored by Incursion NPCs. It has no resistances and would easily be one-shotted so I assume it has some special undocumented feature/bug.

I'll tell you what this ship needs... a built in cloak. No module.... just the generic ability to cloak. That would make it useful for something...
still... I like it. The ship looks cool. I don't know why everyone is complaining about the gift ship. It could just as easily been another snowball launcher and some snowballs that don't fit in a station freezer. I like taking my Christmas victory lap in a new ship... just for the hell of it. For everything else there's the Nighthawk and the Onyx. If CCP isn't giving away a command interdictor, than I already have what I need for most of my other operations. Thanks for the ship, CCP!

I see it as a free hangar ornament. It's nice, but I'll probably never use it.
That said, I also wonder if it's a hint from CCP. After all, the news articles have mentioned a *lot* of electronics systems, information networks, etc, and now we're getting a ship with a codebreaker... Maybe Hacking will play some sort of role in the incursions in the future?
