i think now is the time that miners get a new ship, making a super hulk, making it with double the size cargo bay, 5 to 6 high slots , stronger hull,to with stand these attacks ( not be killed in one shotor 2 ), 4 mid slots, 4 low slots, larger drone bay ( maybe doubled seeing that's are only defense ), and mounted tracter beams so can pull your cans with you instead of having half used cans all over the place, miner range of 20 km without support and up to 30 kn in fleet, drop cans of 40 m3, being able to mine 15 m3 on own and 18 m3 while in fleet

No. Mining barges are not intended to be able to defend themselves save for against mosquitoes.

Good hulk fits get around 25k EHP that is 3 Tempest Alpha's. Everyone one just sucks at fitting them.
Hint: Civi Sheild Boost will not save you.

Most fit theirs to tank rats; I fit mine to GTFO if a war target shows up in the system.

I would also appreciate to see a larger mining ship :) No problem if this means utilising one of the newer industrial/ore skillbooks as well, as they only have single uses atm.
I'm addicted to mining I think! Its a nice way to spend time, chat with friends and keep you busy changing crystals, guessing pop-points and a lil bit of pewpew in the form of rats now and then :)

Fit them to tank like they were meant to be and they wont be killed in 2 or 3 shots unless the gankers use tempests or apocs

Not this thread again about better mining ships.
CCP have said that the Hulk is going to remain the king of mining so they are not going to release a better mining ship, they may release one that is different is some aspects but not one that can out mine a hulk with similar set up and support. Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congratulated by carebears for the actions. |

They should. You can get better isk running missions than mining with an Hulk.
And on top of that miner gankers should get penalities I would kile something like this:
Self destruction: 10sec Dmg radius of explosion ship: 25Km Dmg type: all Amount dmg: 800% total hull left x 25% amount of total mineral in his cargo And to all other ship: 25% of total ammo in cargo
The risk related to reward
This could make think twice some young ganking padawans and give to old gankers the leton that you dont get out ganking with something you can awford to replace so easly or cheap has ganking canes

No stop trying to hurt miners.
Flooding the economy with more Minerals is just gonna make harder for newer players to get a career while older players get into the new ships lowering mineral prices furthur.
Then with the increased ammount of minerals in existance manufacturers will stop purchasing the left over ORE since there stockpiles will be full. This means piles of worthless ORE in Miners hangers.
Stop trying to killl mining as a career.

Well this would make ships become less expensive and more ships to blow, it's the point of the game isn't? blowing ships

Yes but the reason Mining isn't profitable is not enough ships are being blown up to cover the difference. Meaning that more minerals mined per hour will increase the ammount of minerals in the game, but not the ammount being used.
This means no increase in profit and less money for miners over all as stock piles begin to grow.

Doesn't matter to me if they release a new barge or not, but this is something of a canard. CCP can say lots of things and still do whatever they want later.

Back in the day when EVE didn't have mining barges or exhumers - mining was a necessary and profitable one-man operation.
Then CCP gave us the barges, and suddenly there was no use for cruisers and frigates with mining bonuses. Ore prices plummeted and miners cried that they were being given the short stick for their precious ore...
So CCP decided to introduce the exhumer's, the beefed up versions of the barges. rinse repeat. Markets get flooded with minerals and ore, prices drops.
Here's a short step-by-step process of what happens each time CCP introduces a new mining ship. 1. Miners think the game is unfair because it doesn't cater to their exact hopes and wishes - so they whine about it. And ask for a new ship. 2. New ship released. Expensive, requires new skills. 3. Early adopters see a slight increase in income due to the lag associated with new ships and skilltraining. 4. Pirates don't really care what they are shooting at, save its a capital ship with dread guns or fighter drones. 5. Market settles. Mineral prices have come down, the price of the new ship as well. And by now "everybody" can fly it. 6. Go to 1.
HIGH-SEC MINERS: You can't have it both ways. EVE is not a solo-ANYTHING game. So please stop deluding yourself into believing it.
Mining is a unnecessary avoidable hassle that is best left to the really big corporations and alliances out in 0.0, where the asteroid belts actually have rocks in them.
... Find something else to do ...

If you want this ship then you have to halve it's yield.

Fit up a drake and put nothing but ECM in the mids and nanofibers in the low slots. How much EHP do you have? Not much. It doesn't mean Drakes need an EHP buff. Know why? Because you can fit a tank on them.
You can fit a tank on a hulk. Just because you don't want to does not imply a problem with the ship.

no more upgraded ming shpis PLEASE!
i want specialized mining ships. not upgraded ones.
you'd be killing the economy and making it impossible to make decent isk doing anything but missions.
if you want to firther max your yield, get into a corp and mine with an orca to back you up. THIS IS NOT GOOD!
really now, look through the history of this section and see how many dead threads have ideas like this.

HOW DO MINERS NOT UNDERSTAND THAT ANY SHIP THAT INCREASE MINING YIELD WOULD ONLY SERVE TO DROP MINERAL PRICES FURTHER.
I.E. YOU WOULD NOT BE MAKING ANY MORE ISK/HOUR.

I think it stems from the issue that EvE is based on a [more or less] free-market system while so many other MMOs generally have static markets. Here supply and demand are king. _______________________

Mining in many ways is too accessible as a career path. I enjoy it, however I am now considering moving away from it. I have almost exclusively played Eve as a miner but it is dull, uncomplicated and not very profitable.
If you impliment the ship you describe you are simply building a macro-miners wet dream. Then mining will be even less profitable and more pointless.

Edited by: Horizonist on 13/12/2010 13:10:46 OP, I am a miner as well, and I see your concerns. However, you have to understand that what we do NOT need is bigger, better and stronger mining ships. As has been said by many people before, due to the free market economy of Eve, this would murder the already low mineral prices. The mining profession would lose all viability.
What we DO need, and which has been suggested constructively already, is a T3 industrial. See this: T3 Industrial Outline
