OK so here is the question:
Which type of ammo is most cost effective? Is it worth completing an anom faster with t2 ammo, keeping in mind that the t2 ammo costs much more than t1 or faction? Or is it better to run the anom with t1 ammo with having lower ticks?
This doesn't really apply to lasers, as the crystals can last long enough that t2 is worth it. This question really only applies to projectiles/hybrids.
Discuss.

This could depend largely on what type of weapon you're using. ROF bonused autocannons can chew through a ridiculous amount of ammo, so with those it may not be cost effective, for example. Artillery, on the other hand, uses next to nothing in ammo compared to ACs. Triple rep Myrms are like what you'd get if you strapped a beehive to Robocop. |

There are really two different issues here.
Faction ammo is just an expensive version of normal ammo. It does more damage but that's about it. Is it worth it? That somewhat depends on how easily you can get your hands on it. I find logistics of hauling it around to be a bit of a pain that adds to its real cost of use. However, if you're using arties there's really no reason not to go for it due to the very low consumption. On ACs I personally find it crazy. Rails and blasters are somewhere in between.
T2 ammo is situationally very good. Personally I'd always have it on hand, though I wouldn't always use it as a go-to. But when you need the range or tracking (long range guns) or the range or facemelt damage (short range guns) you'd load it up. You still have the logistical issues, but at least T2 ammo can be produced.
Also keep in mind that faction ammo is in fact much more expensive than T2. |

I do a fair amount of isk making in 0.0. Speed is very important for 2 reasons.
1. In a plex or Anom, you have ppl that want to warp in and kill you. The less time you spend there, the less chance you have of being interupted. And if theres a faction spawn, your goal is to get to that asap.
2. Time IS money. Play time is generally my discretion, and I play till I'm bored or out of ammo. If I can fit 1 more Anom into that same time frame, it pays.
3. Ammo/Cargo hold. My excursion to 0.0 is always a road trip. I do not live there. My isk making is limited to the amount of ammo I can haul. I want to kill as many rats as possible with that limited ammo supply. More rats = more isk. I tend to think that those extra rats do indeed pay for the ammo cost + make a profit.
That said: I use T2 missiles but I carry about 1000 Caldari Navy's in my hold. Faction missiles are almost double in price.
Faction Antimatter or Faction Iron. I seem to get enough Faction Iron for free from drops, I rairly buy any. Cadari Militia keeps the market tight and competative for the antmatter. I do keep T2 Javelin in the cargo hold for structures and hard to kill named rats.
I use an Arty Loki sometimes. Faction Phased there also. Cheap as chips in Arties.
Side note: My Tengu seems to kill average of 2 BS and *maybe* 1 smaller ship per reload. If I couldn't kill the second BS before reloading, the rat would re-gen and the time loss would be considerable over the course of a night. I need enough DPS to kill 2 BS per reload, which I doubt T1 will do for me. Again, it's a time management issue for me. |

It is highly situational and every time you need to do the math yourself.
If faction ammo makes you go from 30M/hour to 32M/hour but you spend 4M in ammo in that hour it's obviously not worth it.
So what you have to do is, go do your favorite anomalies, look how much increase of isk you get by using faction ammo and how much you spend on ammo. Only then you can say if faction or T2 ammo is worth it.
It's not set in stone and is different for different sites. |

Anoms are not missions, the fact that faction ammo costs more isn't even slightly worthy of consideration. Anoms pay great, it's not worth caring about if you spend an extra mil per anom when you are making 35 mil (before any corp taxes) per 10 minute tick in a Machariel (which is what I use).
The faster you do anoms, the more you can do. The more you do, the more chances for faction spawns and escalations (aka real isk) and the less time you spend sitting on one place for any neutal who comes into system to warp to you. Speed of completion is paramount when it comes to anoms. |
