It would be nice if more information on ship related skills was available.
"Skill for operation of the Heavy Assault class cruisers. Can not be trained on Trial Accounts."
That description does not help me in any way when its comes to deciding whether or not to train HACs past lvl 1.

yea the whole cannot be trained on trial accounts is kind of annoying imo, not necessarily because its informative to eve noobs, but because its degrading to eve vets.
also, a lot of descriptions are half assed.
look at hail and barrage, it still says u get a bonus to tracking when you dont.
and look at some of the item descriptions _______________________ Hottest Character Ever. |

Zealot: Example
Heavy Assault Ship Skill Bonusses:
10% bonus to Medium Energy Turret optimal range 5% bonus to Medium Energy Turret damage per level
These are the bonuses you get for each lvl of HAC you have trained.

As said above look at the ships to see what kind of bonuses you can get. That said, what you are asking is so basic level info, that you won't likely be flying a HAC for a long time, so you really don't need to worry about it for a while.

Edit: Found it. Feel like an idiot now. Makes sense that it located where it is as bonuses will be different for each Hac.

open the market and go to ships.
So just click to the top left ont his very page on "item database"
Then go to cruisers, specialized/heavy assault ships. And check them out for yourself.

Go to the market, then go to cruisers then open Heavy Assault Ships, it will have a list.
I would suggest before you fly a HAC you have Tech 2 Weapons, Scout Drones and Tank.
They are very expensive and you want support because they don't get much insurance.

If you are serious about flying ANY ship you need to train the relevant skill beyond level 1, at least to 4, preferably to 5. .

Kitsune. Blockade Runners.
However HAC should be trained to 5 at one's earliest convenience.

Hey OP I am assuming you are new so I thought it would be a good idea to share a bit of advice on ships. HAC's usually take a lot of training as with most T2 Cruisers. Not only that but there price is prohibitive to newer players who rush into them. There is a just as effective and much cheaper and easier option for newer players.
That is the Tier 2 Battlecruisers. They are very well rounded, easy to train into and very powerful all for an affordable and insurable price. People who can fly T2 cruisers still fly them more often on average for these reasons. Another nice fact is that if you decide to switch races the Battlecruiser Skill works for all four races saving time on deciding which race you prefer to fly. Like suggested earlier take it to 4, you will not regret it.
Tier 2 Battlecruisers:
Minmatar: Hurricane
The fastest and most Dangerous of the four it has gotten more actual killmails then any other according to the latest Q3 Report. It has several effective fits for both Shield and Armor and is welcome in any gang as well as the best Solo Battlecruiser. It has 2 DPS Bonuses, full drone bay and great slot layout.
Caldari: Drake
The Drake is an effective small gang ship and a powerful fleet ship, not the greatest solo but neck in neck with the Cane. It is the most flown ship and lauded for it's PVP abilities as well as it's range warefare. It is the ship of choice for large sheild fleets and a good tag along in small gangs. It's strength comes from a combination of a tank bonus and DPS bonus to Kinetic Missiles.
Amarr: Harbinger
The Harbinger is a slow heavy Armor ship. It has good gang, solo and fleet capabilities as well as good fitting for all your needs. It is used as a mid range pulse boat with full tackle and a fleet beam sniper, it has a 50m3 Drone bay giving it more options in DPS and defence then the above two.
Gallente: Myrmidon
Flying the Myrmidon is more of an art then anything else. It is possibly the most customizable ships outside of Tech 3. It relies heavily on drones(Drone DPS bonus and 150m3 Bay) and lacks a racial weapons bonus. This allows it to be fit with any races turret or Neuts, NOS and Remote Reps for a variety of uses. It's slot layout allows it to use the active tank bonus to great effect of be buffer or shield tanked to suit your needs. It is one of the harder ships to master and requires both player and in game skills.

not to mention, it seems to be a little known fact, even amongst so called veterans (which should give you a hint about the general skill players have (it's very low)) that the battlecruisers mentioned here win agains hacs in 1vs1 situations.

any skill worth learning...worth learning to 4 most of the time. Look at the bonuses, then see if worth your time. When in doubt, eft the level boost then see if the damage bonus worht the training time for you (many t2 ship skill 5's not worth the train to me, never get done most likely tbh, probably be logi and recons only).

This reply is copy/pasted from the other post with a similar, though more basic question.
I don't have anything against new players. however, from your question it's clear that you have no clue about eve yet.
While that is fine, it is not fine to just go on the forum right away! spend a week or so to learn the basics, ask some other players to help you, join the help channel where they'll answer all your questions.
Much better than wasting time on the forums.

HACs are really fun and I think everyone should be able to fly them. However dont be THAT GUY who loses a vagabond with meta 4 guns and HACs at III. You really need t2 guns, decent fitting skills in general, and HACs IV to fly one. Its a suggestion but anyone with half a brain will say not to fly any t2 ship until you have the ship skill at IV.
