I managed to mess up when I divided up my skill points. But it's my fault, so I'm not going to complain or petition it.
For future use, I would very much like to see the following improvement made to the system that allocates skill points: When you right-click on a skill and chose the option to add skill points to that skill, the window that appears will NOT have the "what number should I add" text box. Instead, users will be presented with 5 choices: level 1, level 2, etc. Any levels already trained will be grayed out. If there are not enough SP to reach a level, the level will have the word "partial" added to that choice.
This should hopefully be less confusing for the newbs, and definitely will help older players from making noob choices.

Supported as well. I had to make darn sure not to overshoot certain skills past IV. A simple 'Spend skillpoints' -> 'Train to next level' option would be nice.

The only issue here is what if someone doesn't want to train a skill full, say they want to allow it to finish in 23 hours 59 minutes, so they can add a long skill and go on vacation or don't have enough to finish a skill. Having level
1 X1 total 2 X2 total 3 X3 total etc might make it easier if it were all on the same screen.

IMHO- as stated, no. However, having it be:
* level 1 * level 2 * level 3 * level 4 * level 5
OR apply skill points
** TEXT BOX ***
then sure.

Wish list for PI:
*One-click input routing *Copy product, inputs & outputs in factories *Launchpad upgrades: twice the space, twice the cost, half the hassle! [ /sig ] |

Let me guess, you missed the bit of text that says how many SP to Next Level? I thought that the whole Process was easy. Right Click on Skill, Apply SP, Box with SP total Available comes up and also has the SP to next level, if you just want to get to next level type that number. No Change Needed IMHO

Simple obvious and easy. I'm mystified why it isn't already there.
Yes, I know it tells you how many SP are needed for the next level, but rly, its just a bad interface as it stands.

As a birthday present, award pilots with 1 extra attribute point to distribute. You know we need it, with all these lvl 5's to train. :-(

Yes, I did miss that. Later, when I applied my SP in my alt's account, I saw it. And I found it to be quite cumbersome when you're trying to apply multiple levels. From Apollo's and Berikath's comments, I do now see why we would want to keep the textbox.

It's not a bad idea, but I prefer it the way it is. Being able to choose how much SP I put into a skill rather than being forced to go in levels allows for more freedom when using the allocation feature.

Keep it as is but add a "next level" button.
Minimal fuss, everyone is happy.

I like it as it is. if you add the option to take to the next level, leave the option to assign a specific number of points as well. I took many of my longer rank trains down so that they were not completely trained, but so that they could be trained in less than 24 hours ( thus fitting in the queue in front of a longer skill ).
