Edited by: CYVOK on 17/01/2005 08:44:44 Well we knew it was going to happen eventually.
Earlier today one of our 520 members cleaned out 4 CLS Fleet hangers located at 4 different stations.
For anyone that doesnĘt know, CLS provides nearly everything for our PvPers. Ammo/drones/equipment even frigates and cruisers free of charge. All these items are kept in our Fleet hangers.
We have had a VERY strict security policy that has prevented theft for a long time. However over the last couple of months we have relaxed that policy a bit to make it easier for our members to enjoy the game. Needless to say we are now reverting back to our xenophobic security policies.
I would like to thank the thief for his cowardice and for making the game that much more unenjoyable for what amounts to 1% of the total EvE player base.
I would also like to say that anyone that were to give me information on who it was would earn an amazing amount of gratitude from me.
It must suck being the player that did this and not being able to brag about it knowing that CLS has contacts in every corner of EvE.
The thief should also be aware that what he stole hurt us in only 1 way, trust. The 200 or so million worth of crap you took will be replaced in a matter of days.
You have accomplished nothing and could have made A LOT more ISK by simply beings a good corp member.
Please enjoy your wares and prey the rest of this corp never finds out who you are.

I take it that you have already tried tracing whoever did it? In some cases it's possible, if you know where to look.

We have several suspects, unfortunatly with 521 members it is nearly impossiable to narrow it down in time. At the time of the theft 123 corp members had access to the hangers in question.

Don't forget to look at the sell orders in the area. Might give a clue to him, his alt or his main. It's not too late yet.
I can understand the difficulties though.

Betrayal is the worst thing one can do to another in this game.
If you find him then I hope you declare war on every corp he joins.
And if you release his name then be sure that him and his new corp will be KOS to me and the crew, no matter which alliance. --------------------------------------

Edited by: Weebear on 17/01/2005 10:44:31 If only CCP had made Station/Vault/Warehouse containers available in all stations or at least given a way to transport them while packeaged to another station rather than just handing them out as crappy agent rewards.
I'm sure we will find the culprit one way or another, and after that I feel kinda sorry for them ----------------------- Honor and Serve!

More or less. But like ore theft theres no way to prevent or punnish the thief. The methods you have to prevent this (Station cans) are buggy and a pain in the ass. Same with Giant Secure cans, great for hauling...worthless for mining... ---------------------------

Not sure if thats sarcasm or not
200 Million is hardly corp theft at its finest. Its actually a pretty pathetic getaway, especially considering the wealth of CLS. Any idiot should be able to do this in short order, especially in a corp of 500 people. Add on top of that all the XETIC wealth CLS has access to and Id say this guy really blew it. 200 million out of a potentially billions,,,,,,,
GJ Thief, you are offically bad at what you do.

Not something that I would do. However it is part of the game and to keep the diversity I think CCP should keep a certain element of it possible.
Also crap like this happening highlights for me why mega corps are not all good. Maybe if you could know your members better and be a close group of friends I am sure they would find it harder to steal from you.
But corp theift with someones main aint cool

As a CEO you should be able to view the assets and transactions any of your members. You should then be able to freeze their assets and block them from leaving the corp. Then pod em back to the Dark Ages!
Ok, I know it is extreme, but even if you catch a corp thief red handed, there is nothing you can do. You can't take items back from personal hangars or deduct isk from their accounts. If they then revoke their right and try to leave the corp, granting them rights does not block them from leaving. All you can do then is put them on the KOS list and inform their new corp.
It would be nice if you could tag corp items and only authorised corp traders could sell them. Items could also be tagged as stolen.

Edited by: Ryctor on 18/01/2005 15:42:51 From the Eve Online FAQ.
Quote: 6.7 Can I be a corporate spy?
Spying, scheming, double-dealing and espionage are devilishly delicious features of EVE for those who relish walking on the dark side. Corporation leaders are urged to exercise extreme caution when accepting new members, particularly when granting access to their private communications and corporate holdings. There are criminal elements in EVE who can, and will, take advantage of unsuspecting marks.
Whine whine whine all you want, but CCPs not gonna do anything for ya. Sure its ****ty that you lose some stuff, but as I said before..... Corporate Terrorism at its finest.
