i suppose it wouldn't hurt, but i'd imagine the benefits would be rather minimal.

depends on what your goal is in eve life.
PVE for example there are rigor rigs which do a better job and some, including myself, prefer them on certain ships. Cruise based raven variants and hml tengu...I run rigors freeing up a mid slot for something else. running these will make you pull ccc's off and losing cap stability, max gank CNR's or tengu's cap stability less of an issue in my runnning of them though imo. Max gank kills off dps in the case of ravens, tengu's just speed tank the mission and kill the web ships (the tp's in the case of angels) with extreme prejudice.
If some pvp in the future, could help. Drake/cerb ofc...in my case could be on the list one day with a minny x-train going on, huginn bonus for tp with this skill maxed squeeezes out some extra performance (t2 cruisers are kinds of pita...once in them, may as well max skills to say you have done all you can to keep them alive).

If you're looking to take more advantage of your missile skills with painting, you might as well have Frequency Modulation (rank 3) and well as Long Distance Jamming (rank 3) to at least L4, if not 5. You could max at least both those skills for the same value of Signature Focusing (rank 5). FM and LDJ falloff and optimal range, respectively. At least max those out before dumping your skill points to Signature Focusing 5.
If those are already maxed out, then bringing Signature Focusing to 5 is a good idea.

Originally by: Cluster Two Edited by: Cluster Two on 20/12/2010 11:58:22 i fly a caracal, quite like the long range.. i have heavy missile and all the support skills to 5.
also have implants for sig reduction and speed negation of missile blasts..(to try and pop chasing frigs)
recently decided to stick a couple of painters on so i can be more effective against chasing frigs..
with this setup, would Signature Focusing to L5 be a good way to spend the points i have just been given?
If you have Guided Missile Precision V, then you don't need a painter on a Caracal. What you need are Assault Missile Launchers. With (5) AML IIs, you can complete any Lvl 2 mission in record time, especially if all missile support skills are at V. You should be insta-popping frigs in PvE with that setup. I've run 4/10 plexes in an AML fit Caracal. If you feel like you need more firepower against bigger ships, use Bloodclaw Fury. Save that type of skill training time to get Caldari Cruiser V, which I assume you don't have. Or, I'm sure there's a ton of fitting, targeting, or navigation skills you don't have trained to V either. Save Sig Focusing V for some time down the road when you can't imagine any other use for your training time. The opportunity cost is too high for the extra 5% benefit you get.

Edited by: Cluster Two on 23/12/2010 03:05:22 Edited by: Cluster Two on 23/12/2010 03:04:16 thanks all..
i did not know about the frequency modulation and long range jamming skills so i just bought those..ta Iowalker :)
although the painting is mainly for the sniper caracal it will help my golem too, but its mainly for the caracal..
its role is to annoy people and also provide long range support..targets will be cruisers, battle cruisers and i want the ability to dish out mean damage to chasing frigs too..i know i ask a lot, but im thinkin every little helps?
everything else is 5, except for the two Iowalker just told me about..sorry forgot to add have a rig fitted too, so im wondering how much i can actually reduce the sig?
but i think as the attribute will be added to my base stats as opposed to everything else, then all the other mods (implant, rig) will have an increased bonus making it seem more tempting..
