Why would sensor strength affect if it's harder to scan the ship? Seems like CPP just doesn't want to add a new parameter or retune the existing algo so it makes more sense?

i do find it kinda funny that thaving more sensor strenght makes you harder to scan down, to the best of my knowlage unless you fit a certain module all sensors are active type or they send off there own signals and then read the results, in my own opinion that should make your ship easyer to find

It is a side-effect of the new probing mechanic using signature when calculating, they had to attach it to something.
Sensor strength is not all about power, it can be precision as well. The radar dish may allow you to see ships in orbit of the moon but will do jack if you want to see inside a molecule.
The amount of ships that can pull it off is thankfully relatively low, there is some shenanigans with remote ECCM being pulled off but a revision of ECCM in general should sort that nicely.
I would like to see gang-link modules add to signature/reduce sensors to remove the lame impervious T3 boosters. At least force them to sit at a POS or take a risk like CC's in the old days.

I heard about someone getting scanned down in an unprobeable ship. Ruined his day pretty good. Don't know how they managed it though...
In any case, seems like a fine mechanic, it's hard to fit, and has a definite trade-off, and doesn't stop you from catching them with bubbles or camps.

there are implants that help with scanning, almost no one uses them so its assumed when making an unprobable ship that they have max skills but no implant
