Edited by: Poenike on 25/12/2010 01:04:29 Hey Everyone,
I've been working on my PvE skills so I can run level 4's with relative ease and at decent speed for cash flow. Now that im getting to that point (Running in an ishtar, 1 day till sentry drone V), I really want to get into PvP (take the Agony Unleashed class perhaps)....
Anyways, I need a couple of questions answered
1)Should I stick with Gallente for PvP? I love my Gall pve ships, but if they arent all that for PVP, now would be a good time to find that out. My second choice would probably be Minmatar.
2)Based on question number 1 and my skill list below, what skills should I train first in order to become a viable pvp pilot (or any skills that I might of missed)
3)How should I neural remap?

Edited by: Deviana Sevidon on 25/12/2010 01:12:56 With your current skills you can easily become a competent Vexor, Ishtar, Myrmidon or Dominix Pilot and that is enough for a start.
Further training of Hybrid Turrets would be a gamble, since they are currently a bit weak, but might receive a boost in the future. Crosstraining is certainly doable, but will slow you down so it will take several more month to get an acceptable level, but the advantage would be a much broader selection of ships, weapons and tactics.
If you decide to crosstrain, I would recommend Minmatar, but only after having taken care of secondary gunnery skills as well as shield skills.
Edit: Battlecruisers 4 is highly recommended.

Thanks for your reply! Battlecruisers IV is high up on my to do list (myrm and brutix are fun ships to fly)
Hybrid turret training also makes me a little uneasy...and I have heard such good things about Projectiles

Gallente ships are perfectly fine for PvP. Like all the other races, they have their lame ducks and their awesome ships. And hybrids will kill you (or your enemies) just as dead as any other weapon in the game -- you just have to learn to use your ship and its weapons properly. Different weapons take different piloting styles.
You would only need to cross-train if you decide you want a particular ship from one of the other races. If you do, great. If not, then don't worry about it. ---------- Drago'Kazov Sabra'Jaguar is quite a mouthful. You can call me Drago. |

Drago, Thank you SO much for the detailed post. I had a rough skill plan and this really fills in the blanks for me.
The only thing im iffy about is the missle skills. Should I get those for stealth bombers? or are there other Gallente ships that a launcher would be excellent on?

All of the missile support skills would be very useful for a bomber as well as the Tristan frigate, improving their range and DPS. The Rocket and Torpedo skills and specializations would be for those.
The Standard Missile and Heavy Missile skills and specializations would be mainly for cross-training or the odd Gallente ship like the Lachesis. Other than that, there really aren't any Gallente missile ships. ---------- Drago'Kazov Sabra'Jaguar is quite a mouthful. You can call me Drago. |

For pvp it all depends on type of fleet and preference.
My recomondation would be to stick to the drone based ships because of your skills! Focus on survivability and holding targets... not so much on damage. Let your drones chew through your targets while you tank away in your fleet support role.
If you want to gun people down... once you reach a point you get sick of gal. switch to minmitar! As someone who plays all four races there is nothing like flying a temp with balls out 1400mm DOOM CANNONS WTFBBQPAWNZORINGNOOBS!!!!
sorry... got carried away!

As a Gallente pilot, I have specialized in sub-BS ship types. I kept my gunnery skills fairly low so far, but intend to bring them on par in the near future. In the meanwhile, i have invested heavily in Drone Skills, and yes, Sentries raep in L4 missions. PvP is different though. You can't rely solely on drones if you want to kill Battlecruiser and above ship types. However, you would be fairly successful in dealing damage as support ship with T2 sentries in small gatecamps (T2 sentries deal roughly 500 DPS and Garde IIs tracking is fairly solid).
You could also invest in nevigation/webbing skills and jump in a fairly cheap Ares.
If interdiction is your thing, the Eris can be a good start (and if you don't really like how it behaves, cross-training for something else in the same class is fairly painless).
All in all, Gallente is just as effective for PvP, provided you get to know your ship and gain PvP experience. Sadly, I don't have much PvP experience due to my hectic schedule, but I have simulated some scenarios on Sisi and Gallente ships are definitely NOT inferior to other races. ...gis sdrawkcaB |
