Not sure if this is in the right forum...
The other day I was able to use Cruise Missile Launcher II and loaded it with some Paradise Fury Cruise Missiles for a mission against Sansha. I'm sure it wasn't the Precision T2 missiles.
I was averaging about 1000-1200 damage per shot (group of 6 launchers). When I switched back over to the T1 missile types, the damage went up to about 1400-1800 per shot. It was against the same target too.
What am I missing here? The description says the T2's do a base of 384 damage while the T1's do 300. Even EFT says my DPS should be more with the T2 type. ____________________

Fury missiles hit smaller/faster things poorly. As a rule, you can use them on battleships, battlecruisers, and destroyers. I wouldn't use them on cruisers. You will want to make sure you have 3 rigors and a target painter to use Furies.

That's the strange part. I was using them on a Sansha BS. I switched back and forth a few times between T1 and T2 on the same target and noticed the decreased damage with T2. ____________________

What's your fit and support skills? Were you using a target painter? Which Sansha BS were you shooting? Can you post excerpts from the logs from that session?

I seem to recall that Sansha battleships can plod along at quite a decent speed once they get going ù perhaps not at Angel speeds, but still more than enough to make your Fury missiles cryà ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Assuming max skills, implants, rigors, etc., against a Centus Savage Lord:
* if the BS is moving at orbit velocity of 140m/s, you'll need one TP to hit for full damage with Fury cruise missiles.
* if the BS is moving at max velocity of 280m/s, with X TPs you'll do: - 0 TP: 50.8% damage - 1 TP: 67.9% damage - 2 TP: 77.4% damage - 3 TP: 94.3% damage
The max velocity numbers do not factor in any sig bloom that may or may not be caused by an NPC's pseudo-mwd max velocity mode.

Yeah, yeah. Someone(tm) really needs to hop in a very fast cruise missile ship and do some testing to see just how big that bloom is and if it exists for some/all NPCs.

Edited by: Sturmwolke on 29/12/2010 11:35:26 Meh, no need. Actually, if you do the reverse math (estimate) the probability that the OP's Raven has no Rigor rigs is almost a certainty.
T1 Cruise (max skill) Dmg - 571 Ev - 103.5 Er - 225 DRF - 4.5
T2 Cruise Fury (max skill) Dmg - 731 Ev - 87 Er - 412.5 DRF - 4.7
Taking the Centus Savage Lord example, its EM resist is 43%.
T1 Cruise volley damage = 571*6*0.57 = 1953 applied damage. T2 Cruise Fury volley damage = 731*6*0.57*0.56(reduction) = 1400 applied damage.
That more or less agrees with the original ratio numbers from the OP.
Edit: DRF typo error for Fury |

wtf? T2 missiles have a worse exp velocity than T1's? And the range is less... wtf.

I recently trained for T2 cruise as well and noticed the lower damage numbers. I put a TP on my rattlesnake to compensate, but after reading this I think the answer for most missions is to just use T1 ammo.

Fit (off the top of my head): Raven Highs: 6 x Cruise Missile Launcher II 1 x Tractor Beam 1 x Drone Link Augmentor
Mids: 3 x Damage Specific Shield Hardeners II's 1 x Large Shield Booster II 1 x Shield Amplifier I 1 x Cap Recharger II
Lows: 4 x Ballistic Control System II 1 x Capacitor Flux Coil
Rigs: 3 x Large Capacitor Control Circuit I
Support skills are good, at level 4's and some 5's. I wasn't using a Target Painter, no, although I can use a T2 TP. I don't know if the logs are still there, this was two days ago now. I'll save 'em next time. The Sansha BS was the one that looks like a Nightmare but I don't remember its name (I know there's different versions of it in Sansha, but I was switching between T1 and T2 on the same target when I noticed the difference).
EDIT: The Sansha BS was also flying away from me at a constant speed. ____________________

Yeah, that WOULD make sense. Cheaper missiles plus a free mid slot after dropping the TP, no? ____________________

Yup, the lack of Rigors makes Fury unattractive. Alternatives are to use Faction ammo (expensive) or replace the 3 CCCs and Cap Recharger with a Cap Booster, 3 Rigor rigs, and upgrade the shield to an XL.

:CCP: is great at game balance, needing a bunch of rig slots and a target painter so cruise missiles can hit a battleship is really really inspired genius.

That fit is so much win.
7x Cruise II (or CN Cruise if you are lazy) CN/DG XL, Hvy Cap Booster II, 3x T2 Hardeners, Painter (RF/Domi/PWNAGE) 4x CN BCU, Sig Amp II Rigor II, 2x Rigor I
Definitely one of the best mission ships in the game.

CCP conveniently forgot about T2 missiles when re-balancing T2 ammo this last round.
Missiles make their hardware bleed. Take a hint.

Well, I was trying to increase my dps, the tank portion of my rattler is solid. Furie's don't increase my DPS and the penalties/hooops just aren't worth it for what I do. I can see their value against dreads or POS's or something huge and slow, but otherwise T1 missiles are better IMO.
