Not totaly sure which forum to post in but this seemed the most likely. Apologies if I got it wrong.
I like several of the new ship designs and as a fully paid up member of eve I would like to join in and vote.
But...
I AM NOT AND NEVER WILL BE a member of facebook. I object to being forced to use a third party site dedicated to data mining customers to sell advatiseing to vote on your competition. I strongly urge you to make your own IN-HOUSE voteing system so your paying customers can use it without having to use some randomn third-party site many of us have a deep objection to.
Anyone else who thinks we should be able to vote without joining facebook please sign here. Even if this doesn't effect this vote it might effect subsequent competitions.

Quoted for truth. As such, I will also never vote on any of the ships, and is the contest rigged to not favor my favorite as much as it should. ---

More people use facebook then play Eve.
If CCP gets publicity out of it, more people will be playing eve or dare I say it, try Eve. So its in CCP's interest to advertise on and utilize facebook. Not for the already paying isolated anti social nerds like you who can't be asked to use fb, but the 500 million possible subscribers that do.
Feel free to emo quit.

Wouldn't it make more sense to let the actual players vote though? The vote could be done on this website.

Totally agreed! I hate having to jump thru the hoops of the invasive sociopaths Facebook site. Especially since it's trivially easy for CCP to setup a regular vote elsewhere. --

And there are more right handed people than left handed, does that mean they should have rights beyond what is afforded the others?
CCP failed hard, not by including Failbook, but by making exclusive to it .. guess the voting system they use for their much vaunted CSM is not good enough for the more frivolous stuff such as this.

QFT mate! I understand CCPs reason for doing so, the publicity and possibly new subscribers, however they should also allow us anti-FBers to use our regular accounts.

I have nothing agains Facebook, BUT CCP should use it only as a news platform and not as a tool.
BECOUSE ppl can vote who are not part of the game actually! And ppl who ARE part of the game wont.
The vote WILL NOT BE THE WILL OF THE COMMUNITY, which made CCP win even a price for the best MMO community.
really bad move CCP.

Not EMO so wont quit.
I am all for advatiseing eve and gaining more players... But they shouldn't require there customers to use a third party site for an in house vote. (and in this instance I don't think non (paying) account holders should get a vote anyway)
Also saying I (and anyone else who doesnt use Failbook) am an antisocial, isolated nerd is insulting and inaccurate. I just like to have real friends I actually meet in RL, and comunicate with them in private without bradcasting everything to the whole freaking internet. And even if I was interested in social networking websites in principle the invaseive (don't care about your data security), dumbed down twittering mess that is facebook STILL wouldn't appeal.
All of which is besides the point. CCP shouldn't be requireing their paying customers to use a thrid party site (which has a whole other purpose, it isn't vote hosting online they're useing) to cast a vote in an in-house competition. I don't care if you can vote on facebook (although again, I don't think this particular competiton (at this stage) should be open to non eve players) I care that you can't vote WITHOUT being on facebook. __________________________________________________

Right so because we prefer to stay in real contact with our friends rather than using a social networking website, that makes us anti-social? don't make me laugh

Don't be too hard on the poor kid, she is probably not old enough to remember the medieval age when phones where used to talk each other and written language was capable of conveying emotion without the use of emoticons.
Why people would want a smart-phone just so they can access crap like Twitter and Facebook to "stay in touch" is beyond me .. guess when experts say games mimic society they mean they too will be dumbed down to cater to the masses (read: sheep).

Well I do have a facebook account. But It has no real personnel information on it and I only use it to keep track of family and such. I don't have any real personnel information on it because like the OP stated it is a data-mining company that sells your personal information and that isn't cool. I also do not play the stupid games they put on there and one resin is they tend to be full of key loggers and malware as well as a few viruses. I too will not use face book to vote and I think it should be done on the eve board by the eve players. Mommy that mean ole bear just dukied in my sandbox. :( |
