I started Caldari, been a long time since I played, so long in fact I can't get my old account reactivated. Don't remember the finer details of the account. No biggie, bought the CoE for the implant, and am cruising right along...
However, teh starter Caldari station, the one with all the tutorial missions. While I was running there, there were two ships sitting out front, well one at a time, and they were yellow with skull. One had a bounty of 1.7m isk bounty.... and I watched them kill a few folks.
Now, I wasn't worried, because while I've been away quite a while, I do remember some of the basics... but for the life of me I couldn't figure out what they were doing! There was a yellow can out that they hovered by. I THINK both were the same corp. But I just didn't get what they were doing or why.

They are farming players that ignore a certain warning message.

New players to Eve get excited that they can steal someone's stuff. So they open that said yellow can and... Steal. They forget that in Eve, stealing is punishable by being blown up.

Which, if done in a starter system CCP considers griefing and any victims of such should petition. Possibly for great justice!

I'm terribly sorry but I can not agree on the assumption that those fellow noobs realise that they are in fact stealing stuff. It is more likely that the click-the-yes-button-wheneven-it-shows-up-on-screen-training any GUI is torturing folks with is kicking in.

Edited by: Medarr on 02/01/2011 01:24:24 Did that can happen to say free loot? If so they are most likely can baiting.
'Can baiting' noobs in a starter system is considered griefing indeed, and is petitionable.

Honestly, I didn't see a "free loot" or see anything in local. I was just worried about some new scam I hadn't seen before. It made really no sense to me. If I happen to see ti again, I'll get a video of it and post that.
I've seen can tippers, had an idiot do that to me first day out... I was short on trit and went out with my Bantam loaded with Miner II's and expanded cargo hold just filling a jet can with a bit of ore for my badger... I know I know, just asking to get tipped. Didn't fall for it though.

Well, I suppose they COULD be camping some corp that uses the station as their main base of operations but...
...in all honesty, I think it's just a display of the very worst EVE has to offer, thrown into the face of the new players. They probably justify it as "teaching the nubs valuable lessons in regards to stealing and shooting ships with bounties in high sec space, lulz". Personally, I think it's sad and pathetic.

It is even sadder when an experienced player takes there stuff and they run away.

Another possibility is that they're trying to brag with their ships, much like a lot of level 85 players stand around in the city with their rare pets and armor all on display.

I think it might be Dark Age of Camelot.
