There are other ancient and mostly forgotten about races in Eve that could be used. Look at Sleepers for example, before WH noone knew who they where, and still somewhat don't. I'm all for expanding the lore and adding some nice changes, but I don't believe going Jove is the way to go. Also "a good run" is a understatement on how difficult it would be to destroy a Jovian ship. Impossible would be a better term I would use. shhh.. Along time ago when eve was very new you could set the station that you wanted your clone to appear when you died. So you could pick a station in jove space. The people that did this befor ccp fixed it so you could not do it any more reported that there was nothing there just empty stations and empty space. |

In fact it was when the Amarr attacked the Jovians that it was revealed just how powerful the Jovians are. The subsequent ass **** that followed is what gave the Minmatar their chance at freedom. They say that in learning the game Go, it is best to lose your first 50 games as soon as possible. This is because Go is complex, and the only way you will start to get an idea of strategy and play is by first sucking and failing as hard as you can. So...In EVE, it is best to get your first 50 deaths by combat as soon as possible. |

Apparently my theory has been shot down before it could be implemented...by my C.E.O. They claim my idea is impossible. But here it is anyway...we scan for wormholes...and they have openings leading to other systems. I was intending to travel to the fringe systems near jove space in the hopes of EVENTUALLY finding a WH that had a portal into a jove system. Then it would simply be a matter of finding one of the VACANT and EMPTY jove stations such as the ones in M-FDTD, jumping back to my HQ jumpclone...thereby leaving a clone AND a ship in a jove station. It would require MONTHS of scanning and exploration to find a WH suitable. But I am told there ARE NO WH's in jove space...at all. Since he has NEVER visited there I remain dubious...and fully intend on attempting the IMPOSSIBLE anyway. Isnt that what explorers do? |

Check this out... it's a Rooks & Kings video about the Infinity Gun exploit. In the context of this thread, think about how many wormholes these guys went through to find their opponent again. I think if there was a WH to Jove space a bookmark to the entrance would have shown up on the sell forums at some point.
Don't let me stop you though. You can't KNOW there's not a WH entrance to Jove space until you've checked every WH system in the game...

That was back during VaK'Atioth. We've come a long way since then. With the advent of tech 3 ships and advances in other areas, we stand a much better chance against the Jove than previously. A blob from nul could wipe out a small fleet of theres. Toe to toe though, would be another story... |

I am undaunted by your scathing remarks...my search will continue until there are NO WormHoles left uncharted and notated. Only then will I believe you. Besides, I am not asking you to join me in my quest. You stand to lose NOTHING, except the time you waste in your attempts to belittle me. But by all means, please continue if it brings you pleasure. As to the rest of you, I remain grateful for your input and information sharing...I honestly appreciate it. All that said... if you really want to get into the lore... the Jove are fighting a war on many fronts. They fight the Talocan and thus their creation, the sleepers... essentially rogue drones on another level. More importantly, the Jove are dealing with a race called The Enheduanni, which are an uber offshoot of the original Earth colonists. Their plate is full, and as I understand it the Jove aren't winning. This again, just lore... but you asked.

this is the problem with people and the lore, jove ships are NOT like that. a single cruiser sitting still wouldn't kill a battleship of any kind. there was a large fight jove vs amarr where the amarrians DID lose but if you read why it is understandable
1. the amarrians slow battleships refused to leave the fight, as it is against amarrian laws to leave battle EVER 2. the jove used fast ships to avoid the weapon fire, thus amarrian ships were pretty much powerless vs them 3. Jove motherships which are very powerful, arguably as powerful as a titan with old DDs was shooting amarrians off grid.
a well fit fleet of any capsuleer navy will be a good match vs a jove fleet. Jove ships are more advanced then the other 4 races but it is like t1 vs t3. |

Battle of Vak'Atioth
Forewarned, the Jove were able to meet the Amarr fleet with a perfect counter. The Amarr fleet was composed mostly of battleships and heavier cruisers. Its support was light, leaving the fleet sluggish and unguarded.
The Jove countered with small wings of frigates. While the Amarr scored the first kill, destroying a stationary Jove ship, the Jove frigates quickly reached full speed and were able to pin down the Amarr vessels. It was then that a Jovian Mothership was brought onto the field. An ancient vessel of a size nearly unmatched throughout New Eden, it had been equipped with the latest and most devastating of Jove weaponry. Each shot was capable of destroying an Amarr battleship entirely.
The Amarr, finding their ships pinned by the Jove frigates and being picked apart by long-range cruiser fire and the Mothership's doomsday weapon, fell into chaos. Their lines of communication were broken and Amarr battle doctrine refused surrender or retreat.
The entire battle lasted just under six hours and ended with the majority of the Amarr ships lost, while the Jove had lost only a third of their vessels.

Given the current evidence available there appears to be strong historical and sociological connections between the Jovian and Sleeper societies. The attempts to find a cure for the lethal Jovian Disease forced a separation of the two groups, where the Sleepers used their expertise in virtual worlds to prolong the grave state of depression caused by the disease. To find a permanent cure, the Sleepers went on a quest to reconstruct their corrupted DNA; the cause of the disease. For this they needed unmodified DNA from other ethnic groups which eventually lead to the eradication of the Yan Jung Nation. Unsuccessful in solving the DNA mystery with specimens from New Eden alone, the Sleepers constructed huge Motherships and star gates to take them far beyond New Eden into w-space. There they continued their DNA research on the Talocans, a race untainted by the massive radiation emitted by the collapse of the EVE Gate. Seemingly, this research was either unfruitful or is still ongoing thereby making the final fate of the Sleepers unknown. Source: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/The_Sleeper_-_Jovian_ConnectionThe spring expansion 2009 "Apocrypha" introduced Sleepers as inhabitants of the newly introduced Wormhole space, though at this point all interactions with them appear to be with drones rather than manned vehicles, leaving the ultimate fate of the race unknown Source: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Sleeper

In Theodicity the Enheduanni are never called a race.
They are referred to as "The Order", which suggests that they are some kind of religious/mystic organization. As far as I can tell, there is no evidence of Terran-Enheduanni link (any more than there is a Terran anything-else link), beyond the fact that they have been around a long time. That aspect of them seem to be unfounded speculation, (or completely made up) by over enthusiastic players.
