Im just wondering if Ive bitten off more than I can chew at the moment.
Ive just got a couple of L2 agents available. First L2 mission I did easily enough, took slightly longer than L1 equivalent mission but my ship (Rupture) was never in danger, still did it quickly enough and it was coping easily.
My second L2 is 'recon 1 of 3' from agent Ophollise Eura. I cannot do it :-(
Probably stupidly I read no killing needed just scouting but first time in I dont even know what ship (maybe battlecruiser (?)) it was but it had 200k+ bounty I tried to kill it and thank god I got out of there with warp cus I would have been killed.
Now Ive healed and as soon as I warp back in I cannot get to the other stargate without getting killed because as soon as I get in all the enemies are right on top of me, Im taking structure damage to soon and always need to warp out.
2 things Im wondering -
Would a cloak work for this mission (i.e go in, get to other side without being seen) or not? I dont want to waste what little isk I have if cloak wont work.
Also, are all L2 missions as difficult baddies to beat as recon 1 of 3? I read Rupture was fine for L2 but if its all as difficult as this mission I disagree!
Phil.

get in a shuttle or cheap t1 frig with an afterburner and burn right for the gate, use it, and mission done. don't bother with the npcs, they are about on par with a difficult level 3 mission.

Also wait till after downtime to run it. What will happen is that the mission resets. Fly to the second accel gate as fast as you can. The bad guys don't too much damage at first. Mission will complete shortly after you warp into the second room. Then warp out and collect your reward.

it can be done in rookie ship which you can get for free when docking in pod in any station. putting on 1mn afterburner makes easier. also, you could use fast frigate to drag NPCs away from warp-in and then come back with long range ship and snipe. it might take time but it will provide bounties.
very few L2 missions are that hard. ________________________________ : Forum Bore 'Em : Foamy The Squirrel - [jedi handwave] "There is no spoon." |

Thanks for the info everyone. I read the word 'downtime' I didnt even clock what it meant I was going to ask then obvious the half an hour server down which has just happened. So hopefully now the mission doesnt expire until the 10th but hopefully resets baddie positions etc I take it. I will try it again and just raz it through as fast as I can. Thanks.

Glad you figured it out. :)
I always like the idea of Recon, as it teaches the newbie to do as you're told. I too flew in with a Caracal once, when I started playing EVE, and, like you, felt disheartened by the immense aggro when I started shooting stuff. I thought: "If this is only Lv 2, how am I ever going to do Lv 4's?!" I think I accidentally killed a Minmatar diplomat once too, LOL (which was not supposed to happen, either).
But yeah, the idea in Recon is to basically 'punish' you for not listening; it's a Recon mission, not a 'Shoot everything you encounter!' job. You start shooting anyway, you pay a hefty price. Nowadays I wish more mission were like that, actually; I mean, with more intelligent tasks to accomplish, instead of mind-numbing shooting at everything coming your way (sure, there's a certain order in which you're supposed to do it, to trigger the spawns in the right order, but that's about it). --

They did reset when I went back in like you all said . Thanks for the info. I just ignored the baddies and headed straight for the stargate and they actually seemed to ignore me! (the NPCs). They got a couple of shots off just as I was almost at the gate and thats it. Yeah will remember for any other recon missions.

Afair, there are five of them: Recon, Cargo Delivery, Alluring Emanations, Smash the Supplier and Deadly Arrival. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Next time you could also ask in local if anyone wants to shoot that mission for you. Can be done in a drake and the bounty rewards are quite good.

I think Recon set is one of the easiest missions of them all. I enjoy getting cca 4K of LPs and nice bounty out of flying directly to a gate and using it. Very enjoyable :) ...gis sdrawkcaB |

The level 4 recon 1/3 is routinely run as a regular combat mission. You just need to kill off the dps fast enough and it becomes a really nice mission.

I like to afk grind it for sec status in an ishtar, launch hammerhead IIs and just afk for an hour. come back to 3-4 nice sec bonuses, and 10m isk.
it is rather easy to tank, its just worth while for most people to blitz it. although I do kinda like getting the 10m bounty tick from running it in a dps ship.

Yup, first time through Recon (1 of 3) most people are like "AAIIIIEEEEEE!"
Then they get better tank and gank, and they're like "OOOOH!"
But now I'm like "YAAAWWNNnnn"
