I understand that as a beginner on eve I'm prone to a lot of mistakes. I made on that i would regret Yesterday.
To the point! I let Jettison of in-valuable cargo in an asteroid belt. Someone else picked it up, a much more experienced player looking for a bit of a skirmish. (If only i'd known that) So i went on to attack this person and lost my un-insured Harbinger.
Im worth 400k ISk and have an Omen to mine In. I've calculated that it's gunna take me about 2 weeks to make the required 26 Mill for a Harbinger as I really can't progress on my missions with an omen (Level 2) Any tips or suggestions of any kind on how to make money much faster, Long and short term??? (I mine mainly and mission do not give me enough ISK)
Thanks Your time is much appreciated.

You remind me of myself 5 years ago when I just started and got into the weeds too. I saved up for my first battleship, a scorpion, and thought my balls were bigger then a continent and lost it after going afk in a lvl 3 mission. Had to sell whatever I could scrap up to buy another cruiser and start again... Ah memories...

best advice I can give you is to read up on fittings.
battleclinic & scraphead challenge (PvE fittings, PvP fittings) are good starting points, asking corpmates for their fittings (and discussing with them all the details you don't understand yet) works well, too.
I don't want to be insulting but your Harbinger fitting is just terribad and I think in a few months you will laugh about yourself when having a look at the killmail.
A decently fitted Omen should have no serious problems with lvl2 missions - even with low skills.
lvl1 - frigate/destroyer lvl2 - cruiser lvl3 - battlecruiser lvl4 - battleship/T3 cruiser/command ship/Marauder
However, there is a lot of flexibility in this system (regardless of xp). On this character I did lvl1 and lvl2 missions in a Punisher and ran lvl3s in a Retribution only skilling up for big ships when I was starting to think about lvl4s.
If you need a battlecruiser to run lvl2 missions that's a strong hint that your fitting is bad or your support skills are insufficient (you should get lvl3/4 in the skills for PG, CPU, capacitor, ...).
As to making money I would suggest ninja salvaging - 1-2 days of skill training and 2 frigates (one for scanning & one for salvaging) is enough to set you up, you can make a decent amount of ISK (in my experience similar to lvl3 missions) and knowing how to scan down a target fast and having basic scanning skills will be very useful later on (see youtube for guides on how to use scan probes).
However, please spend a few hours going through various fittings and other people's opinions rgd them first (also use EFT (EFT Guide) or PyFa to adapt fittings you found elsewhere to your character's skills and wallet size )
edit: once you have a decent fitting for a lvl2/lvl3 mission Harbinger that your character can use, feel free to send me an evemail with a description/export of that fitting and we can discuss a loan to get you back into lvl2 (and hopefully soon into lvl3) missions.

Go tell your story in Jita. It's a meeting point for support groups and generally charitable types and no doubt you'll get many millions of ISK donated to help you get back on your feet.
But real advice (which looks to be too late) is don't fly what you can't afford to lose. Welcome to Eve. |

How is it a character that has been playing for 8 months cannot afford to replace a Harby?

This sounds like a very stick situation indeed! I wish you good luck in your harbingerthon.

Not everyone advances at the same pace, I'm not entirely sure, but I'm pretty certain I wasn't able to spent 28 million on a ship twice in eight months either.
@OP: It's only isk, I lost a couple of hundred million (maybe even so much as a billion) on ships and implants. All because of some impatience on my part and then the taste of ill advised vengeance ;-)
Things to remember: - Don't undock a Viator when it's fitted with cargo expanders instead of the agility mods when the station is being molested by a couple of pirates - Don't go looking for revenge, but if you do, don't: - Don't throw a Tengu pve fit in a pvp situation - Don't throw a Domi pve fit in the same pvp situation, after 10 'friends' have shown up and the Tengu is seconds away from blowing up
The Viator was unnecessary, but the Tengu and the Domi were just wasteful. But it ain't EVE if it doesn't hurt a little ;-)
I could replace the combat ships, but I currently have other plans for the isk. The Viator will get replaced eventually, but for now I still have a few lying around...
ps. It might make life easier if someone gave you 28+M isk to replace your ship, but it's not really as fun as earning it yourself (i'm speaking from experience here ;-)

Run the newbie learning missions and sisters of eve epic mission arc again (make a new alt if necessary) and that should get you quite a few million (15ish I think?) and half a dozen ships.

With an Arbitrator cruiser you can easily do all level 2 missions. You won't really need a Harbinger until you start doing level 3s. |

This.
You can also run multiple career agent missions for each faction from different agents. IIRC, there are 3 agents that give career missions (military, advanced military, exploration, etc) so you can run 3x Combat and 3x Advanced Combat arcs in a few days had have something like 60m ISK, a boatload of guns/basic mods and over a dozen ships. Alternatively/additionally you could also do the 3x exploration/manufacturing/etc arcs if those are your thing for additional ships/mods/ISK.
With ANY kind of skills you should be able to hammer out each of the 10 mission arcs in 1 or 2 hours.
