I was thinking if CCP could look into something simple to keep people's characters training on SiSi inbetween mirrors, now now hear me out... what I am suggesting is simply this:
when a player changes a skill on Tranquility, if the character is not currently training a skill already on SiSi, it will then also begin training same skill on SiSi, so unless you specificly set your character on SiSI to train a skill, it will train the same as your char on TQ
Why? because a lot of the people who don't use SiSi that might try it at some point, will see it as pointless when they log in and they dont have any of the skills they have on TQ (like 6mil less sp)
I wont gain anything from this myself but I figured someone else might? (more people on SiSi = more people who might catch a bug before it's released) Christmas wish list https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=134275 Module activation delay! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1180934 |

No.
The idea of being able to train SP directly into the unallocated pool is much better. |

Participate in mass tests and get free SP. The amounts rewarded should do more than make up for lost training time. Furthermore, Singularity periodically mirrors Tranquility, so if you're worried about having an outdated test server clone, just wait for the next mirror. |

The issue with that idea:
Say you train skill X on Sisi to L4 while on TQ you train skill Y to L3.
Then just after the sisi training completes you happen to start training skill Y on TQ to L4.
What happens on Sisi? you cannot train skill Y to L4 on sisi as you never trained it to L3 in Sisi.
Its a subset of a basic issue: After a mirror the Sisi and TQ databases start to diverge. Trying to keep them in sync, even partially, exposes all sorts of edge cases.
So instead: How about each down time every character not training on Sisi is awarded 50,000 unallocated skillpoints? It could be just a script that runs each downtime, so as to not burden the devs. A mirror would wipe them out and they would start re-accumulating. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

Or better yet, CCP could hold these events that you get 2m unallocated SP for attending, and seed +5 implants at 100 ISK. Trying to keep the two servers in sync in any way will not work and rewarding those who don't log in is not a solution.

Mass tests are not that frequent. We have not had one for quite some time. How many eve players have started their very first sub since the last mass test?
And there are time zone issues. For example, for me they occur during working hours. I have been able to seek some in, but not everyone can.
One reason people keep asking for new mirrors is to catch up their characters. Making it easy for players to handle that function on their own, by tricking in a measured amount of allocatable SP would reduce the need to make mirrors. That would allow players to test stuff more easily without the bother of logging in all their accounts on two servers to keep setting skills. The result would be more testing, a CCP goal. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

For crying out loud, it's a test server!
It's entirely designed around the need to find and squash bugs before they happen, by this logic you may as well set every single character to level V by default - and even that would eliminate the point of Singularity being there because I'm sure there's the possibility for bugs in the skill queue.
There's nothing wrong with the way things are being done currently, perhaps an established mirroring schedule would go some way to managing people's expectations, but again - it would defeat the point of why the server is being run and limit flexibility on the part of the developers.
Singularity isn't there for us - it's open to us - but it's there to help CCP leverage the playerbase in finding issues before they are rolled out to the production server.
