Unfortunately in Hi sec. Without a Pos, the only option is to queue it. Sucks I know.

Use an assembly line that is currently being used and just wait your turn. Join a corporation that has POSs / Outpost (latter requires them having Sovereignty somewhere) with ME assembly lines. Create your own one man corporate and one-man the management and logistics behind a POS just so that you can have your private research assembly lines.
Honestly, I'd recommend you join a player run corporation of like minded people. Studies show that's how people stay longer with the game and we get more money the best way of creating an efficient production chain. @CCP_PrismX EVE Database Developer and Expert Ranter |

ninja that into lowsec. Use a frigate with intertia stabilizers. If you can use them, use a covert ops frigate or stealth bomber.

The issue with that suggestion is the failure of roles at a corporation level when it comes to industry and POSs. The blanket roles system creates greater risk to everyone involved. This is one of the main reasons alt corps or 1 man corps are so popular. Using the current system for a large corp and giving members roles needed to do proper R&D is like playing Russian roulette. |

Yay, Studies (TM) show that people with a life few spare time have issues to play EVE The Right And Only Way developing their industrialistic interests to the maximum. EVE is a serious game that requires taking it as a second job some amount of dedication and finding a bunch of similarly thinking jobless jerks interested players to live long and prosper ingame.

There is, you just have to find them in the outer systems away from the main hubs. Much easyer to go into lowsec though. |

I generally agree that more fine-grained permissions for POS access (and a UI overhaul) would be nice but I don't see how this applies to the issue of ME research.
I joined a research alliance (NER) a few years ago to get some ME research done (same issue as OP) and as far as I am aware I did at no point have the ability to cause any damage to other people's research jobs or the POS setup. |

If my memory serves me right NER was built specifically for research. Anyone who joins generally does so in a alt corp to avoid the need to provide corp roles within the POS owning corporation. So yes you didn't have the ability to mess with anything, though the loopholes needed to achieve that is what is wrong with the system. |

With such a negative outlook on EVE one can't help but wonder why you play it. There are plenty of 'casual' players in very 'serious' alliances/corps. One does not need to play every day for hours at a time to be accepted into a real corp. Every corp I have had an interaction with in EVE has had the same mantra, 'real life comes first', so I don't get where this whole idea you need to live in New Eden to get accepted to any serious corp comes from. You may find your inability to get into a serious corp has less to do with the lack of time you have to play and more to do with your lack of skills and personality. |

It's not the only model.
On one of my corps it's now almost 3 years I run my own BPO copy / ME / PE / invention service and nobody had ever had to join it or train a research alt to join it.
A character of mine takes the BPO directly from the Customer station, brings it over, the BPO is researched and then ferried back. Of course I only do that for 2 weeks+ worth of research jobs but it's easy to find BPs needed more than that.
Ofc there's always a problem with trust but it's not a problem for me since I am well known to my Clients, I also do 3rd party service, collateral holding and so on. There's even the choice for the Customer to have me directly buy the BPO and research it for him and then carry it to his home. Can't really get easier than that. That's because according to everyone who doesn't hisec, it is a place where people fly unicorns from system to system, using rainbows as jumpgates, every edge and corner is covered in foam to prevent any ouchies, and isk flows freely from everyone's orifice in staggeringly copious amounts.
