alliance that i was in: IRC chat bell, CHECK required IRC, CHECK alarm clock ops, CHECK forced to login even at night, nope fc's yelling at you, CHECK fc's yelling to login, CHECK not login = kick, nope
so the alliance i was in applies to all your statements, exept for the one where you are supposedly also going to be kicked if you don't login? well, if the CTA starts. and if that's the moment you logout, and that's ALWAYS the time you logout. then you'll be kicked. ofcourse. but that just means you're a leach...

Some things clearly haven't changed after all this time!
Some really helpful responses in this thread, mega-thanks to all posters. Think the NPC nullsec PvP roaming thing sounds most like what I used to enjoy... just need to get my @r5e out of my Vargur and into something more nimble I guess.

QFT. Same situation here. When in corp/alliance I don't mind small responsibilities, but as it required more and more commitment I started to feel disgusted to even log in so I left my corp.
I think 0.0 is overrated. The isk is fine, but there's easier ways to make it. Fleets and fleet fights can be fun, but 90% aren't because of lag, boredom or getting killed in the first 4 seconds into the fight. POS shooting, snore. Roaming gangs are usually fun, but you can do those without being in 0.0 alliance anyway. These all combined with an awkward timezone I'm living in lead me to a decision that I'm better off in highsec, lowsec or npc 0.0.
To the OP: I'd say that if you want to try 0.0, join some corp in npc 0.0 or take your corp there.

Sure they do.
Right up until the RED LETTER ALARM CLOCK OP that the alliance leadership tells YOUR ceo that anyone who doesn't show up must be kicked.
That's right, your own CEO has no choice but to kick you if you don't show. That, or he faces getting the whole corp booted.
If you haven't experienced this, my fine fellow, then you haven't a clue WTF you are talking about.
THAT is real life politics in major alliance nullsec.
THAT is what we are on about.
And THAT is exactly and precisely the way CCP likes it.
So take your soft-sell elsewhere. The truth will be told here.
At least the next wave of hapless idiots headed for the meat grinder will know what they are in for.
Wow all i can see here is "I joined an alliance and i log off the second a cta is called, after months the ceo told me to stop leaching and join atleast one. I told him to **** off and left. i hated how they treated me!!! all i wanted to do was rat!!!"
seriously im in a massive alliance 3k members, the only reason to have those out of game programs is to notify you if a CTA is called and if you actualy want to join. all cta's are optional you are not forced one bit to join them, yet so many still join.
you are one clueless emo.

0.0 Politics is pure feudalism. And just like ye goode olde feudalism, it can vary from being a very laid back and easigoing system to a system of complete abuse and nerve-grinding, typicall the higher up the hierarchy chain you are.

0sec is where I play the game.
Hisec is where game plays itself while I pay attention to the telly and press F1 and ctrl - click occasionally.

Iceni, if you contact me in game, on this character with eve mail, I will be glad to forward you to our recruitment people, to explain our 0.0 status. We don't have mandatory ops often. I am also a casual player my self.

It never ceases to amaze me what people think is the norm in 0.0 corporations.
Haven't had a single mandatory op where someone threatened me to log in since i went into 0.0 five years ago..haven't had a single incident where my ceo tried to force me to join a fleet when i didn't want to play eve.
Is my alliance just that special or are my people skills just that much better than everyone else's?
