I was thinking about this ... we know that at launch DUST will only have an impact on high and low-sec planets. Also, and in all honesty, i'm not sure if planetary bombardment will come to the game before null-sec combat. But let's just assume that it does.
Is there any information on how exactly planetary bombardment will work on EVE side?! Will any and all pilots be free to unleash hell on DUST bunnies without any sort of pre-requisites?
When i read Ytterbium post about planetary bombardment destroyers, the idea of suicide ganking planets immediatly came to mind. Obviously we don't know how the mechanics will play out, but if its possible for dest pilots to freely bombard DUST bunnies then this will be hilarious. The world is a community of idiots doing a series of things until it explodes and we all die. |

Griefing console players will be the quickest way to kill Dust. Horrible idea imo. |

just look at bombardments from fanfest and e3. The trooper tags a target for bombardment. There is no hint we can indiscriminately bomb them.
If we could, way to inspire people to play more and buy stuff in dust to make CCP money... IF Dust supports its own weight, all the finances taken away from WoD and EvE will be brought back. |

You obviously never watched that part of fanfest, so let me explain how it works...
Dustbunny "paints" a target/area on the battlefield and a "launch code" is given. EVE player with a ship sits in orbit, with a certain fit for orbital bombardment. He imputs the launch code on a pop-up when the module is activated. Then you get to shoot at said planet, and only at the target that's "painted". Do you know what a sh*t-barometer is? It measures the sh*t-pressure in the air, did you hear that? The sounds of the whispering winds of sh*t... |

Yeah i thought so. I hadn't really watched the video.
Still though, by the looks of it we'll have destroyer pilots sitting in orbit all day long just waiting to press the fire button.
However, from the EVE Forever video it also seems that once the EVE pilot gets the code, he is free to "change the plan" and nuke the entire map instead of doing a precision orbital strike. The world is a community of idiots doing a series of things until it explodes and we all die. |

This is one way of looking at it. Another way is the possibility of DUST players getting pissed off by this and subscribing to EVE instead to gank back the destroyers sitting in orbit waiting for a chance. Or just to gank dust bunnies too.
CCP needs money to recover its investment in DUST. However that money does not need to come FROM dust (no pun intended). It can come from anywhere, including an increased interest in EVE Online (which is literally one of their goals) The world is a community of idiots doing a series of things until it explodes and we all die. |

No. you cant Suicide Gank them. Oribital strike will be based on Dust player capabilities, guns mounted on the capsuleer ship and his skils. As I understand it there will be a battle barge ( new ship class? ) hovering over the dust battlefield which will provide orbital strike capabilities, its only later that capsuleer ships are going to be introduced that can do it. |

Could you imagine suicide ganking Dusties from orbit in a Moros?!
You'd end the match before it even began! I'd personally love to see that happen.
Null sec should have suicide ganking orbital bombardments. |

If you are using a Moros it wouldn't be "suicide" ganking. just ganking.
All this sounds like "HEY GUYZ THIS WOULD BE SOOO COOLs" but would fail horribly in actual practice. This goes for both the orbital bombardment as well as the griefing behind orbital. Since even if you did grief Dust, 99% of the time you won't hear the rage.

AFAIK CCP has been very quiet and made a point not to detail the specifics yet. This means they probably don't know/haven't worked out exactly how everything is going to mesh yet.
As far as I know, they still want to get the game out this year...so yeah, I think everyone should be worried how badly these two games could hurt each other. |

That will probably take some skill at level V to do. I'll be just as happy to shoot the general area where they're fighting with inferno cruise missiles from my phoenix and watch the whole place burn.
