Please let the characters STOP moving around during character creation. It makes it crazy trying to get things right if they keep moving. Try giving a haircut to a two year old child. That's character creation. I thank you.

i was going to post the exact thing but you beat me to it. however sometimes the animation can be usefull for some things not sculpting facial features tho. my idea was to just make the animation a toggleable button in the corner to turn it on and off. just wait till your char strikes the pose you want to work with and freeze him/her untill your ready than click it again to resume animations :Its all fun and games untill your logistics guy tries passive tanking his raven: |

At first I didn't think it was much of an issue, but as I did more and more portraits.. yes, its an issue!
I just want a button that says "Freeze Character" - a toggle. Then I would be the happiest sculptor in EVE

I fully agree. A freeze button would be nice. But I very much like the animations while you're working on non-sculpt based things, makes your character seem much more alive.

Every time I try to grab one part of the face, it's moved out from under my mouse, and the wrong one ends up being changed. And since History doesn't currently allow me to undo changes; this makes the whole thing impossible to work with.

It's been said once, twice, thrice and needs to be said again:
We NEED a toggle key to stop the character from fidgeting. It's not enough to stop the character from moving when you're dragging, but it's needed as soon as you try to select a morph handle. If you want to automate it, then freeze the character when the mouse cursor is over the model. If you don't want to totally freeze the character, then revert back to the first CC movement type. It was bearable and didn't interfere too much. |

Even if that were true it is not relevant in the least, since it still bothers many people and more importantly a toggle for the movement sarisfies the wants of all parties. You want it to move, don't use the toggle. You want it to stay still while sculpting, use the toggle and sculpt away in peace my good man. With a toggle everyone will be happy.

Personally i like them moving, but a toggle key sounds equally as acceptable for me. Having CCP implement this will prolly depend on the following factors:
- How much trouble it takes to implement.
- How much people actually want the stop moving thing.
Implementation doesn't sound to hard, but playing eve for years and reading blogs, i've seen that the most simple fixes are often more troublesome than it sounds.
The amount of people really wanting the stop moving things doesn't seem to be that high though.
But yea, i don't think anyone would be against the toggle feature.

character movement is not really a problem with me. I think it even helps in seeing them more livelike with the slight chest movement, eye-blinking etc.
CCP has not overdone the effect and to be perfectly honest: people should just adapt to it and accept it as it is. Photographers have to deal with the same issues and they still manage to create awesome photos.

Oh shut up... The very first two pages of the "CC round 3 feedback" threadnought already has nine seperate pleadings to get the fidgeting toned down and many more during the feedback round.
I've adapted but the cost of it is that it takes about twice as long to sculpt compared to the earlier first iteration. Blinking is fine, eye movement is fine, but when you're trying to shape the jaw or the cheek/cheekbone it's irritating when the head turns and you have to wait until he/she turns back so that you can see the effect with any kind of precision.
It's not problem if you don't have the need to make precise adjustements and if you don't have to make change after change to get the look just right. I adjust the same feature at least ten times or more because when you change one part the other part may need adjusting. This amounts to huge number of tweaks all the while the character moves around and you have to wait until you can see it from the correct angle.
It's the very small changes at the end that decide whether the model goes from acceptable to "perfect". |

i like it when it moves when ur adjusting clothing but as soon as i mouse over the body or face to adjust something it needs to stiff up and not budge i about threw the mosue across the room when i had to make a tiny adjustment and the face moved 3 inches to the left cause it to mess up on me
hair moves around a lot. i noticed i leave bald until the very end and it doesnt have as much drain on my comps resources. maybe tone down the hair movement a little

well, i'd like to see what CCP modelers have to say about moving subjects. i hate it. i don't mind it moving while idle, but if i want to mod it, *STAY PUT* and let me do my thing. ________________________________ : Forum Bore 'Em : Foamy The Squirrel - [jedi handwave] "There is no spoon." |

As part of the 1/3 that cares:
Please, please, PLEASE! give us a way to stop the fidgeting.
It's hard enough to get the facial features "just right" without it, and you don't need to deliberately add randomness because people are quite random enough as it is.

A funky new idea: make character try to eye-track the mouse cursor. This could lead to some hilarious moments.

I had thought they had cut the movement down on the last build but becouse of the current build troubles it is hard to tell. Thank goodness they tryed this hardware switch now instead of release day.

Lol, excuse me? I am a photographer. If an adult moves around like that while I'm trying to take a picture they're lucky if I don't beat 'em with a pipe. If I take a photo of a kid I do it while they're playing around and I take dozens of photos to get a good one.
I'd be ok with the character moving around if I could verbally threaten them to stop. lol!

This has been my biggest complaint with the character editor, next to the lack of variety.
If there is only one change made to the editor before release, it NEEDS to be a toggle to stop the character from moving. It's that annoying.

One thing that's good and maybe even essential about the character movement is that it will portray how the character will show different emotions when Incarna hits live. It's like a small window for what's to come. Now you have an inkling of how you may want to sculpt you character.
But while it's fun that the character is keeping company to you it should not interfere the sculpting. So preferably I'd like to have a "pause" button. A key toggle is also acceptable as you may want to enable the emoticons frequently so that you can check how the character looks when animated. |

The moving should stop once the mouse cursor hoovers over any part of the body/face.
