About 10% of the population can expect a knock on the door from a volunteer with a list of 46 questions. The government promises to keep information confidential.
Yeah, right.
Expect directed spam to increase, as well as unwanted phone calls and annoying house calls from companies who have bought the data and want to peddle their wares. Which I don't want. Bugger off.
The government will of course also use the data to increase taxes, pension premiums, etc. etc. Bugger off too with tax increases.
I don't want to take part when the Gestapo calls at the door. Obviously I have a 9 in 10 chance that they won't, but, hypothetically speaking. I might stand a chance of not taking part if I: a) make sure I am on holidays between Mai 9 and 15 2011 b) don't open the door (i.e. like the method to avoid the GEZ-man)
Any thoughts?

You should start worrying when they no longer need a census to know all that stuff about you...

You Sir, are right. In Holland they have already implemented this.
A step on the path to full transparency.

I think you need to stock up on more tinfoil.
The only thing in those questions a company might be interested in for advertising is your profession to estimate your spending potential.
People give out more specific and personal information on a daily basis when surfing the net.
But yeah, just pretend you're not home on May, 9th 2011. It's not like they have a SWAT team on standby to make you fill out that survey.

... which is part of the list of questions. They ask for your profession and education.
Wanting to keep your personal information personal has nothing to do with tinfoil hats imho. It is just common sense.

Yes. And it it's the one single question in which any company could perhaps have a remote interest in. Stealing (or sharing) that information is just not worth it for anyone.

Keeping your private information private is good. Tinfoilhattery (as in your case) and posting about it in an internet spaceshipgame forum is plain stupid. Go join this petition instead: Deutscher Bundestag: Petitionen
Edit: link kinda fails. Just search it (or google it), there is an ongoing petition for census 2011 tinfoilhats.

...You don't sound German.
And by sound I of course mean your unspoken, typed text.

Don't get me started on how they handle private info out here.
Biometric data on passport chip - not a bad idea! Passport biometric data saved in central government database without asking anyone.... saywhat??!

I heard that anyone that plays EVE will be spared when the illuminati shape shifters cleanse the planet of its filth, then everyone that is left will be jacked directly into the EVE universe via a massive spike into the back of the neck, burgers and lager will be fed to us intravenously to stop us from....waking up.
