Edited by: fukier on 08/01/2011 19:28:38 basically... as it stands you have 4 options when moving your ship in space
1. approach
2. orbit
3. clicking in space to choose direction
4. align to
I think it would be cool if you could pop up the tactical overlay map ingame and pick up to 5 points in space using the x,y,z axis to setup waypoints (just like when you are setting up probes in space) and then turn on auto-pilot or someother button (engage) and then the ship goes from one waypoint to the next...
could this idea work? would you use this option?

Edited by: Jenny Spitfire on 08/01/2011 19:29:57 Yes, I would use your option and also I find this feature rather cool after my few hours of gaming today. I would love a automatic warp to 0km for autopilot. It could save me a lot of mouse clicks and the general tireness waiting ...
This game seriously needs some speed up. There is definitely a need for speed up there. --------- Technica impendi Caldari generis. Pax Caldaria!

i am not sure if it should be used to warp around the system... i was thinking more when you are out of warp... but it could be used for both...
as for autopilot being warp to 0... thats a different topic all together... Signature removed, English only please. Zymurgist |

Would also be cool to be able to set a primary destination on the autopilot and on optimization it would remain the last checkpoint.
Another thing: how about an audio warning when you hit a waypoint? I know you already get a warning when you use the autopilot and you have enabled the relevant option but what about the same when you fly on manual? E.g., I have 30 jumps ahead and I want to make sure I stop at two locations and I fly manually. A warning would be nice.

Inb4 someone explaining that this would kill server performance when 11,375 people in one system do that at the same time and that the idea is thus pointless...

Oh yeah.. WTB this ^^^^^
@OP.. just to clarify, you want an autopilot for the area the tactical overview spans? So around 1-2 grids? What's the use of that?
Or did you mix solar system map with tactical map? In that case, what's the use of an autopilot to warp (?) you around a solar system? I mean, I could see a use for that if CCP would somehow manage to put WAAAAAAAAAAYY more content into a single solar system and we'd get longer warp/jump times (Eve would feel/seem bigger than now and less crowded). But unless such changes are made to the game.. what's the use of a solar system autopilot? support Public Idea Tracker | 24hr PLEX |
