I tried doing the whole "Let's get in a ship, load it with big friggin' guns and blow up everything we see!" action... and I'm not a big fan... I've played a MILLION games like that. My passion lies in scanning. WH's, Strange locations, Rat nests... all that kind of stuff. I fly around in my scanning ship fit with a bunch of stuff to check this out or check that out. What I'd like to find is an agent that supports this type of gameplay. Does anyone know of an agent that supports scanning? If so, PLEASE POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION! =)

there is a tutorial agent that asks you to scan down a few sites.
ah well guess you will just have to deal with setting your own hours and trying to sell billions worth of faction loot in jita without the help of an agent
head out to lowsec and 0.0 for the good goodies.

oh believe me... i'm not new at it. Tutorials done a long time ago... and I rarely find anything in high sec aside from cool photographic opportunities that perk an eyebrow these days.... I'm almost always in low sec and null sec.... you just can't see me. =)
Right now I just sort of fly around and find stuff... I was hoping maybe there was a way to increase standings while I was at it. XD

oh dude I TOTALLY agree... More often than not my corpies ask me where I am.... and when I respond they're almost always like, "wtf are you doing WAY out there?" lol.... I dunno.. just flyin' around I guess. Took some cool pictures in Amarrian space of the EVE Cemetery... And hit up Amarr Prime and the Homeworlds statue while I was there. Just wish I could make a bit of money or something while I was at it. *shrugs*

such as? I mean... I'm not NEW or anything but I wouldn't say I'm very experienced either. I get by. My main source of income is selling WH's... but what else is there? Any suggestions?

I don't think you're going to find the income significant at first... start out by scanning in high-sec...run the sites you find, complexes etc. There's really no direction to be given... no specific loot you're searching for... just find a site/complex and run it, get what you can. Check the names on evelopedia and see what chances are for faction/deadspace drops, escalation etc. A good blog to see what the day-to-day explorer can expect would be: http://explorationalmanac.blogspot.com/

Fair enough. Thank you for the link btw. =)
From what I've been reading it's kinda hard to make any REAL money just going out solo.... so I've talked to a corpie of mine and he's going to join me in a combat ship.... to clear the rats. =)
Bounties plus loot should make it worth it for the most part.

Yip... no money to be made in high-sec exploration...none whatsoever... head to low-sec/nullsec... off you go now.

Well it certainly doesn't pay as regularly as missioning...but the implant I made 500 million off of sure made my month. Though they are few and far between...isn't that what you expect exploration to be? I like just going out and seeing what I can find...it's a nice change of pace from grinding away. Plus its nice sometimes to see other probes on the directional and win the race to get there first |

I agree. Right now I'm somewhere in Amarrian space. Went there to take some pictures. =)
I'm planning a trip around to all the Prime planets to grab some photos of where we are all from *sorta*. Only problem I'm CURRENTLY having is that I can't seem to find the Minmatar homeworld on the map, lol. Maybe if I throw on some cargo shorts, a flowered shirt, and some sandals... possibly with socks on... I can wander Minmatar space asking people for directions. XD

West, i think you have a different concept of what exploring is. You say you just travel around and make photos, which is ok, but for us (the majority of eve-players) exploring is about using scanner probes and finding hacking/analizing/salvaging/mining/WH/complex sites. You should read the exploration almanac that was linked above and learn what exploration is.

I understand completely what "explore" means to you, good sir.... I do that as well... but while I'm out and about I will look around for "scenery" while I'm at it.... or the other way around. I'll be in a system taking photos of something you can't find ANYWHERE else in EVE and will scan down some signatures while I'm in the system. Or visa verse. I know what you mean though. You use scanning PURELY for nominal gain... which is TOTALLY cool because there are a million space combat games out there so it's something different. I'm just saying that while I ALSO use it to make some cash, I also like to fly around and snap shots at things I can't find anywhere else. =)

I used to make a decent amount of isk probing out sites and selling the bookmark to corp/alliance mates. Can't really do it in zerg alliances though since by the time you got back to station with your bookmark to sell it someone else has already probed and started the plex.

*chuckles* yeah I can believe that. I never thought to SELL it to corpies, lol.... Maybe I'll give that a shot. Gonna have to wait though... We're in some war or whatever *rolls eyes*. Can't we all just get along? XD

Edited by: John Triphammer on 11/01/2011 16:11:48 would be awesome to have an "discoverer" mission that gives isk for the pure exploring of interesting sites.i agree with you! when i started playing some months ago i was dreaming with the ridiculous idea to start transporting tourists to spectacular sites - but i discovered that there is no money in tourism- or is there?

From what I can tell, no. Although I wouldn't mind chipping someone a little skrill to kind of show me some of the cool stuff, I don't think many other people will. The majority of players in this game play aggressively. I rarely come across someone who is just sorta "hangin' out" on this game. Except me! lol. There is no nominal gain to being a tourist... and most people don't actually give a sht about some of the interesting sights to see in this game if it doesn't give them a bigger gun or whatever.... so, unfortunately, I doubt there would be much market for showing people around. =(
