Some two and a half years ago, in May of 110, the newly appointed Republic Ambassador to the CONCORD Assembly, Keitan Yun, made an historic speech calling for the Assembly to take action and responsibility for their duty in upholding human rights.
At the time Ambassador Yun's impassioned words went unsupported by the Republic government as they were deemed to be politically awkward. Later on in the events culminating in the Elder War this speech became largely forgotten in the shadows of the Dreadnoughts and dramatic revelations that followed.
Ambassador Yun made a bold and daring speech to the Assembly that has wrongly been dismissed as naive or foolhardy, when it truly deserves recognition as pioneering. This speech was originally made to a closed session of the Assembly, it has taken some time for this record to come into my possession but at last we can revisit this moment, and hear these historic words for ourselves. This broadcast marks the second formal CONCORD protest; the right for all to hear.
Quote: [Recording begins]
'Session shall now commence,' announced the CONCORD session moderator. 'Ambassador Yun, you may begin your introductory address before we proceed with the day's agenda. Congratulations on your appointment.'
Rising to his feet amidst polite applause that came primarily from the Minmatar and Gallentean sections of the audience, Keitan cleared his throat.
'Thank you, Your Honour. It is a privilege and a lifelong dream of mine to be speaking here, at the cornerstone of our civilisation, and on behalf of my beloved Republic, to whom I owe my origins, and my soul.'
All of the Assembly members nodded approvingly, except for Ambassador Saal.
'During my tenure as a professor, I found that the study of history compels a thorough examination of humanity itself. To gain an understanding of our past we must first understand ourselves, and the relationship we share with our fellow man. As an academic, I always emphasised parity in the telling of our history. As diplomats, we have a responsibility to our children to be objective when we record events as they take place today. Only then can we navigate through the challenges ahead, and forge a better future for us all.'
Keitan paused for a mild burst of applause, while the Amarrian ambassador stifled a yawn.
'As the technology of our civilisation advances, so too does our responsibility to promote its application towards the advancement of peace. With the union of man and machine, we have taken our first small steps into an age of post-humanism, in which science has liberated mankind from the chains of mortality. The capsuleers are the empyreans of our age; they are our shepherds to the stars; and these times will undoubtedly be recorded as being among the most pivotal in the history of man.
The awesome responsibilities that come with these advancements have brought with them great challenges. I am certain we will meet some of these with success. But my experience tells me that others, tragically, will remain unconquered, impeding the progress of our humanity and sheltering us from a great enlightenment. I say this because, time and time again within these hallowed Assembly grounds, our efforts to rise and conquer the fundamental challenges of universal equality and human rights have failed.'

Quote: The CONCORD moderator frowned as his colleagues looked on impassively.
'I have always found it astonishing that we have the will and the means to achieve the seemingly impossible, like building Titans, or creating oceans on dead planets, and yet here we cannot agree on the fundamental tenets of human decency. The silence in this hall right now, as I speak these words tells me that the means are here, but it is the will that we are lacking. I stand before you as the ambassador of an enslaved race, speaking to an audience within which the enslavers are listening and I ask myself; how have we survived, we of New Eden, when the definition of humanity remains so elusive, so transparent to many?'
A disapproving shout rang out from the Amarrian section, followed closely by bellows of support from the Gallentean and Minmatar stands.
'For years I studied the history made within this assembly, and I am convinced that history will judge our generation by the achievements we have not made here. So many times, goodwill has been a disguise for indifference; men have stood on this very spot and insulted my Republic with their empty promises, ignoring the pleas of ambassadors like myself for begging them to see reason instead of selfishly running from it.'
Murmurs rang out from the Amarrian contingency seated behind ambassador Saal, who was now smirking.
'My nation holds a seat at this Assembly, and yet the overlords who spit on our freedom are permitted to share this honour as well. Is there any greater insult than this? Here, they can legislate policies for the betterment of New Eden, when the plight of billions cry out from within their own borders. Why is such a blatant hypocrisy allowed to persist? What justification can we give, as an Assembly, to allow in our presence a brutal empire that embraces slavery, peddles the women and children of my nation like cattle across its borders, drugs them into obedience, and then dares to appear in this sacred hall under the pretence of diplomacy and goodwill?'
[As the Amarrian ambassador jumps to his feet in objection, the hall grows raucous. As the CONCORD moderator calls for order he orders Keitan Yun to cut short his introductory remarks and be seated. The Amarrian ambassador is granted a rebuttal before Keitan Yun is summarily dismissed from the hall and threatened with permanent explusion.]
Keitan Yun dared to speak out for the plight of the Minmatar people and was met with sanction by CONCORD officials. Is this the way of things then? The status quo, no matter how unjust, is preserved by the silencing of any delegate who challenges it?
It has been over two years since this address to the Assembly, and nothing has changed within it. The recent Yulai protest called by my own alliance and attended by a variety of Capsuleer groups is a sign of this, and the concern held by many. CONCORD is need of reform, and in its current form represents an impediment to the abolition of slavery and the emancipation of billions.
Heed the words Keitan Yun, beware apathy and the stagnation it brings. Do not let the failing of CONCORD pass unchecked any longer. Raise your voice pilot, it is free to speak and be heard. Let none silence it.

While I'm not Concord's biggest fan, I don't understand you Minmatar sometimes.
Without concord interference we'd have no proxy war between the factions and no doubt you would see Pator under Amarr rule within a week. Concord protects your hi-sec operations and grants near immunity to your allies and friends and concord is fairly responsible for your enemies CVA losing their space in Providence.
I would go as far as to say, you owe concord for your continued existence.
It's almost as if you lot like to complain for the sake of it.

The Empire's fleet is less powerful than you think. You have been bloodied once and can be bloodied once more. That is not the point here, however. CONCORD needs reformations. Merely upholding the status quo was admirable enough once upon a time. Now? Not so much. CONCORD has outlived it's purpose and needs to adapt to a new reality. A new New Eden.

Emphasis mine. Yes, there is a greater insult - the mass distribution of the Pax Amarria by CONCORD itself, a blatant endorsement of the status quo which CONCORD maintains by force. This level of injustice can only be overcome with the combination of true unity and military might that Sansha's Nation alone can promise.

Diplomacy should be left to diplomats, not some academic dreamers with no connection to reality.
Unless I am wrong, a few days later the Republic did demonstrate its worth with a riot in the so-called Parliament. Clearly the Amarr society is wrong, with restrictions on the movement of the lowest social class. We should strive to be a paradise like the Republic where terror is considered a fine political tool. And oh, many of the former slaves, as far as I understand, are currently unemployed and huddled together into refugee camps. I can see only one party that benefits from the situation - the Angel Cartel.
The evidence is overwhelming.
Freed slaves waste their lives in camps. What good is this "freedom", when you cannot afford to leave a slum? I do not deny that there are excesses and brutality in the Empire, but at least here, the slaves can be certain that they have something to eat tomorrow.
Those who have decided to stick into their beliefs are mugged or even murdered for not accepting the tribal ideology of aggression and terror. It is true slaves in the Empire are being converted to the true faith. They are put to work, each as per his mental and physical talents. Violence? In these times it is for those who are too limited to find a better way.
This is not the first time I say this: At certain moments I wonder if the Amarr Empire should indeed free all the Matari slaves. After all, as shown by the acts of the Defiants, the Minmatar do not fight to end slavery or some other goal which I am told is considered "noble". They are just struggling to find a national identity in their rage to burn all that the gifts Amarr have given them. Freeing the Matari away would not be as bad for the Empire as some wish to see it. Many of them would stay, and there are countless other nations that do loyally serve God as directed by the Holy Empress. Several centuries ago, the Imperial economy was run by slaves, but this is slowly changing - specially by the improved links between interstellar and planetary economies. However, as far as the news are reliable, most of the Matari freemen and recently freed slaves are currently unemployed in the Republic, forming dead weight to the society. Freeing the majority of the Matari population currently bound in the Empire would, in my opinion, collapse the Republic economy.
Of course, the Republic economy seems to be interesting. It begun to recover almost immediately after Shakor, the old militant, was chosen as the chief of all chiefs. We know that the fundamental structure of the Republic government is unchanged, perhaps with the exception of finally acknowledging that the Gallentean "parliament" has no role at all and exists purely for show. However, the Republic seemed to function better almost overnight. I have to say, I have seen similar things happen in the Empire, as well, when Holders feud amongst themselves. I do not say that Shakor is a traitor who sabotaged the Republic until the situation was ripe for him to wrench power from the "democratically elected" Prime Minister, though I am strongly hinting that the extremists are the true threat the Minmatar need to be able to deal with.

Rodj, no rewriting history, lets stick to the facts here.
CONCORD was not conspicuously absent by any means. We all knew where they were. Gathered in Yulai licking their wounds because the Elders slapped them like the petulant children they are.
As for the Elders being 'repulsed' by the Empire.
The objective of rescuing the hidden Starkmanir and loyal Nefanter was completed and a withdrawl order given. I'll admitt an Elder fleet was lost, but compared to the Empire losing what was it THREE fleets, and the objective being accomplished; I'd say it was a small price to pay by those willing and knowing of the risks.

I am not prepared to disclose the source, suffice to say that CONCORD's actions and presumptions do not sit well with everyone. It has taken a long time for this recording to find its way into my hands however, even given the relatively low security status of its contents. I think however that it is a simple matter for any of us to verify its authenticity.
I can only assume that our last protest, and the quite varied audience it recieved, might have inspired someone to see the recording finally make it out into a more public light.
